Okay, just to be clear, I've never actually used real battle ropes. I've seen them being used in videos, but that's about it, so all I can do is imagine what it must be like. Having said that, these ropeless battle ropes seem like they simulate the actual feel of real battle ropes. In any event, they will give you quite the workout real fast. These are well made, are rather heavy (black 1.6 lbs), easy to hold on to, and will probably last a very long time. The included training poster is very informative and a good thing to hang on a wall. I am (currently) out of shape, and a 5 minute workout of 35 seconds of exercise and 25 seconds of rest, and I am worn out. Keep your wrists tight and use your shoulders. You'll really feel it in your shoulders and especially your forearms. I've had them a couple of weeks and I feel stronger already. Highly recommended!
