Great smelling coffee, but lack of taste

I'm a coffee snob. Let's just start with that. I prefer my coffee black, no cream/sugar/flavoring mainly because I am lazy and prefer the taste of black coffee. I find most flavored coffee to smell great during the grinding and brewing process, but doesn't have the same taste. This vanilla dream is no different. While brewing, it has great hints of vanilla. But in the cup, it tastes like a watered down light roast (more acidic than other coffees) with hardly any hints of vanilla or toffee. I used these in a French press, so it maximizes the flavor of the coffee and there's no flavor here. With a Keurig, I can't imagine it being any better actually as the water just passes through the K-Cup whereas my French press steeped the grinds for quite longer.

A GOOD VARIETY AT A VERY GOOD PRICE

I received this variety pack for review. I’m a bit of a coffee nut, so I was happy to sample new brews and flavors. I’ve had a couple of cups of each of the six flavors now and am impressed. All six are high quality and at 39 cents a cup, you can’t beat the price. I’m not a fan of flavored coffees but I found the Choconut blend good tasting, with just a touch of the chocolate-coconut flavor (more chocolate than coconut) and not at all too sweet. It’s not so much a dessert coffee as a different-flavored morning blend, and smooth and mild. Da Bomb and Dark and Handsome are dark roasts (Da Bomb “double-caffeinated”), Smooth Caffeinator a very pleasant tasting medium blend, and Wakey Wakey a light morning blend. Vanilla Dream is the only blend I have reservations about, though not extreme. It’s a light roast coffee blended with vanilla and butter toffee flavors –it wasn’t surprising that I wasn’t enthusiastic about it because in general, I don’t drink flavored coffees. Having written that, it was still an acceptable brew, and the five other brews were first-rate. Java Factory Roasters are distributed by Two Rivers Coffee and I’ve reviewed another of their samplers. In both cases, I was quite happy with what I got. Well, that’s enough writing. It’s time for another cup of coffee now.

Great variety, spans a wide range of tastes.

This variety pack does just that...it offers a wide range of different choices for coffee. I've now tried each one, and here is my assessment. My two favorites by far are Da Bomb and Dark and Handsome. I like a rich, robust cup of coffee, and these two flavors deliver that without being over the top. Received nine Dark and Handsome pods, and seven Da Bomb pods (see photo). The two flavored choices, Vanilla Dream and Choconut, have a nice enhancement for each of these flavors, but it is kept somewhat subtle. I liked both, but they were both more medium roast than bold. I think they'd be better if they were a little stronger and richer in flavor. Received four Choconut and three Vanilla Dream.Smooth Caffeinator is for everyone in-between, someone who doesn't like a bold flavor but also doesn't like their coffee on the mild side. It was okay, but too light for my taste, appreciating that everyone's opinion may be a little different. Received nine pods in total (they're split in the photo).Wakey Wakey was by far my least favorite. I can't even call it coffee....it was more like colored water. I probably won't even finish these, and I know my wife won't...she likes coffee that you can stand a spoon up in. I've no idea why they called this one Wakey Wakey....Sleepy Sleepy would be more like it.Bottom line here is that if you have a household that likes a variety of strengths of coffee, plus coffee that is flavored as well as non-flavored, or if you are that way yourself, then this is a good choice. I'm not sure if the count for each type that I received is standard or if it is luck-of-the-draw, but if I were going to order these again I wouldn't want to take a chance on getting too many of the Wakey Wakey flavor. I wouldn't hesitate, however, to place an order that is purely composed of Da Bomb and/or Dark and Handsome. Those are excellent.I hope this review helped you in your buying decision....if you have any questions please let me know and I will do my best to answer!

Java Factory Da Bomb Extra Bold K Cups

Da Bomb creates a cup of bold double-caffeinated coffee that serves as a genuine morning eye-opening jolt. The brew is dark and strong, not espresso level strong but darn close. Taste is subjective so reactions will vary but I drink unadorned black coffee in the morning and this is the closest that a K Cup has come to something resembling a real brewed cup of strong coffee. I like it.

Uneven distribution, but tasty coffee

One of the great things about this Java Factory pack is that I've never tried this brand before, but the 40-pack allowed me to try six different flavors without making a commitment to any one of them...well, mostly. There's nothing in the product description to indicate how many of each of the flavors you will receive. And the reviews that I've read, when they mention it, are quite varied. In fact, I found the distribution of the coffee flavors to be very uneven.I received 3 of the Vanilla Dream, 4 of the Choconut, 7 Da Bomb, 8 Dark and Handsome, 9 Caffeinator, and 9 Wakey Wakey. While I think the Wakey Wakey and the Caffeinator are good, I would have liked a more even distribution along the other end of the spectrum, particularly since the Wakey Wakey is the lightest of the coffees and, while tasty, I prefer my coffee stronger and bolder. In this, the Dark and Handsome lives up to its name; it's a rich blend that I can add just a touch of cream to for a nice pick-me-up in the morning.Because I have fewer of the flavored coffees, I haven't tried them yet--I'm hanging on to them for a special treat, but will report back after I've tried them.ETA: I just tried Da Bomb today. It was one of those mornings where extra caffeine was warranted. This was seriously the best cup of K-Cup coffee I've ever had. Rich and strong, I wouldn't have known it came from a K-cup if I hadn't brewed it myself. Best K-cup I've ever had.ETA: the Choconut is amazing. It has just the right balance between coconut and chocolate. Neither dominates, but both are clearly present. What I like most about it is that it doesn't leave a chemical taste in my mouth, as so many flavored coffees do. I definitely look at the Choconut as a little treat. I drink it with just a bit of cream, and it helps calm my sugar cravings.

I only had half a cup & was having a pretty active day

I was a little skeptical, after seeing the claim - double caffeinated. Double what number though? I'm still not sure, but it's a lot of caffeine. First day I drank the Da Bomb, I only had half a cup & was having a pretty active day. Normally I drink one large or two normal coffees every day. This day I only had a fraction of that & was completely caffeinated. If you are used to a lot of caffeine this may seem normal to you, but this coffee is definitely higher than some stronger breakfast blends I consider in high in caffeine. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars, is the taste / aftertaste. The Da Bomb flavor is pretty average, but there is a burnt coffee taste i get occasionally. It's not like a dark or French roast, but more like a burnt carbon like you get from a lot of coffee that sits on a burned too long. It's not enough to make me hate the coffee, just enough of an annoyance to not overlook it.

Da Bomb is Indeed Bold and Flavorful

I use my Keurig K40 to brew the largest sized cup it will make (9.25 ounces). Often times this yields a weak, watery cup of coffee with most k-cups, so I wanted to try this "Da Bomb" coffee to see how it tastes. Turns out it is quite bold. Even on the large cup size, the coffee is flavorful (or "strong" according to my wife). Interestingly, I don't find it to have a dark roast flavor especially, but rather a bold, fairly bright taste. There are other brands of "Donut Shope" kcups, but this one to me tastes like what I expect when a restaurant serves good old fashioned coffee brewed nice and strong. I haven't noticed the double dose of caffeine, but I drink several cups of coffee a day and don't usually notice the caffeine effects (unless I don't drink any coffee, which results in deathly withdrawal headaches!). Torn between 4 and 5 stars, going to give it 4 because I expected a darker flavor. Still, it's nice and strong with plenty of flavor, and should satisfy Keurig users looking for a nice bold cup.

Definitely strong!

This does make a strong cup of coffee. I usually end up using the "brew bold" setting on my coffeepot, and with these, I found that made the coffee far, far too strong. I brew at the regular setting instead, and if I am making a 14 oz cup, it is perfect. If I only make an 8 oz cup, I find that too strong.I have been drinking less coffee -- and I haven't had migraines -- so I am tending to believe the extra caffeine claim. I don't feel the need to have a cup going all day long. The price is decent (about $.50 per kcup as I type this, less if you subscribe) and this is something I will seriously consider repurchasing.

Good flavor, despite a single issue...

This coffee is really good, and, I must admit, I'm impressed. I chose Da Bomb as my flavor. I don't usually buy coffee with extra caffeine, as it has a more bitter taste. I generally use a French press, so I get a stronger brew. I've got dozens of K-cups that go unused unless company comes, because they're just not strong enough for me.Da Bomb has a very good flavor, and, while I do taste some of the bitterness of the extra caffeine, it's not overwhelming, and is easily tamed with an extra splash of cream. Also, this coffee is much more than just the jolt of caffeine; it's rich, robust, and surprisingly smooth. I really didn't expect it would be so smooth, given its strength.I'm excited to be able to use my coffeemaker on a daily basis again. These K-cups save a lot of time. I don't have to spend time grinding the coffee beans. I don't have to spend 5-7 minutes waiting for it to brew. It also means I don't have to spend the time dumping the grounds, washing the press, and trying to clean the filter. The one issue I've had is that there are always grounds left in my cup. I don't know if the grind of the coffee is too fine, or if it's an issue with the plastic of the cups. I'm used to dealing with grounds because I usually use a press, but I've never had this issue with K-cups, and I've used dozens of brands. All in all, despite the grounds, I'd have to say the taste of this coffee really is Da Bomb. :)I received this coffee free to evaluate in exchange for my honest review. Any opinion I've expressed is purely mine and based on my own personal experience drinking this coffee.

Nice after dinner drink

Flavored coffees generally don't appeal to me. But I have to admit that the idea of chocolate-and-coconut-flavored coffee sounded interesting. Of course, thinking about a flavor combination and actually tasting it are two different things.I brewed a mug of it in my Keurig 2.0 brewer. I set it for 12 oz, which is my normal setting. I also told the machine to brew it "strong". This setting seems to work best with coffees I've tried with the machine. The resulting cup had a pleasant, light chocolate scant. It didn't smell much like coffee, but it smelled good. The taste was interesting. The flavor is very hard to describe. I could taste the chocolate and there was something sweet that must have been the coconut, and, of course the coffee. There is an sweet aftertaste that I don't like, but all in all, this is a nice coffee drink. I think it would be a nice after dinner beverage, perhaps with some liquor added.
