I bought this to introduce my 3 yr old to some hockey basics ... like getting a puck (ball) into the net. The sticks are way short so I use a pair of cheap knee pads from a hardware store to take some pain off my knees. It's a durable set. Sometimes the net sees a soccer ball kicked from across the room. Also, I spend most of my time using my stick to deflect the wild swings of a child with no foresight for the pain he might inflict. All 3 of my kids love to play knee hockey. Do yourself a favor and get the set with TWO folding nets so the kids can play "full-ice." The folding nets also make it easier to put them away when finished. The balls are pretty soft so they don't hurt much when the kids really let them fly but they will knock things over so be advised to set this up in a room where you don't care so much about items on display being knocked over/down. Also, the sticks are made of hard plastic/nylon so they are very durable but they also hurt if used inappropriately. The sets with two sticks usually come one left-handed, one-right handed. Keep that in mind. I think the four stick sets come with two of each which is preferred in case you have two righties of lefties. We started with the one net set and eventually bought additional items to build onto it. We now have several nets, sticks and accessories and the games get quite intense. I would suggest starting with a set that includes 2 folding nets and 4 sticks. That will cover 95% of what you will probably ever need. Read more
