The House Of Rain And Fog

The shower head in my main shower needed replacing. I wanted something more versatile, as opposed to an orb affixed to the pipe, perpetually raining from above at a 35-45 degree angle. This Xixitaihao model provides the ability to remove the shower head from its perch and wave it around like a wand, projecting water in weapons free fashion. All right. When the item arrived and I held the packaging it felt as if the product quality will be good at he very least. Of course, well constructed cardboard boxes are liable for such impressions. Removing the shower head from the formidable crate revealed a moderately confident apparatus...with "The Little Engine That Could" enthusiasm. Accompanying the device were the bracket, hose and teflon tape. The entire cast and crew for fitting the new shower head were present. The entire shower head is fabricated of plastic. The reflective chrome like finish makes it difficult to ascertain if this plastic is cheap or superior. The human sense of touch provides a better perception of the material quality, slotting it somewhere between "I want a divorce" and "Let's have another baby". But never mind that, now. Let's install the unit, shall we?...And, done. It's very simple. Ensure you apply some of the provided teflon tape to the threads in order to eliminate or at least minimize leaks from the gooseneck pipe and any other threaded section of the component. Then ensure your gaskets are intact and inserted. Following this, attach all connections accordingly and hand tighten, beginning with the bracket, following up with the quality articulated metal hose. After installation and hand tightening a gradual leak from the bracket connecting to the gooseneck pipe and the hose became evident, in my case. Once everything settled down, the leaks disappeared. No need for re-tightening with wrenches. However, should this become a necessity for you, apply a protective cloth or tape around the wrench to prevent damage to the components and DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.The installation was easy, and the result of this painless labour was an attractive main shower, celebrated and passionately lauded by the women in my life. There was, however...a dark cloud of rain on the horizon. Initial testing yielded positive results with a well pressurized shower head design. Matter of fact, from the height at which the shower head is now perched (with the added handle, upward design and added bracket it sits much higher than the previous module), the sensation of the water striking the top of my cranium can be described as energetic, impressive, violent, unforgiving, powerful, authoritative, remarkable but contemporaneously relaxing. When the shower was first fired up and all available horsepower was unleashed I was moderately overwhelmed. There was no comparison between the old shower head and this one concerning performance.Nor was there any room for dispute concerning the spray settings. It is six to three in favour of the newcomer. These settings are easily toggled with the obligatory use of a single limb and its digits. Attempting telekinetic selection failed, but this is a human limitation. The low resistance lever allows the user to cycle through the spray options with ease using one hand, with the other free to continue swaying to the wonderful songs of the "singing in the shower" environment. It is a nice touch for a product at this price point. The tilt and swivel are also terrific. Although I have very little demand for swiveling, the vertical tilt, on the other hand, is often engaged. It has a range between vertical waterfall to OMG IT HIT THAT PLANE. A bit of an exaggeration but it does reach the end of my tub from mounted position. Also, when in rain from above position it leaves room to circle around the heads torrential downpour and slip in behind or in front of the cascading water...... Neat! Then these rain clouds opened up on the shower head, itself. No, not FROM...but ONTO. And on our relatively clean lives. You see, the device itself is very good, actually. But a couple of minor issues persist. These being pressure forcing the head into retreat in its cradle when fully throttled. And I have a single lever shower faucet so I have one water flow setting...... Turbo!!! If properly nestled the head simply experiences recoil but maintains its composure. However, if not securely mounted in the bracket the pressure could dismount the shower head entirely without warning, striking an unsuspecting cleanser in the skull causing...well, minor irritation, really. It weighs an entire metric gram, this thing, come on. Or, it could liberally spray water beyond the security of the shower's protective gates forcing imperative spillage management. The second issue is that certain spray settings, specifically those emitting two different stream types, are a bit annoying. What I mean by this is that from the mounted height water droplets in the form of heavier mist drop onto my forehead feel out of place with the heavier flow barraging the top of my skull. Feels like all control has been lost. Anyone? Is it just me? Maybe it is just some form of OCD or the onset of insanity distinct to my nature. But I don't like it.Aside from the above, the shower head provides excellent pressure and all features work well. If only the spray settings were a little kinder, and the shower head cradle had a firmer grasp it would be almost perfect. Was close, but not close enough. However, I enjoy this product MUCH more than I dislike it. Between the build quality which seems above average at worst, the wonderfully elementary spray setting switch and obviously the ability to remove the shower head entirely and aim it at the wife or daughters as they emphatically stare into the bathroom mirror whilst applying make-up they ABSOLUTELY DO NOT NEED because they're all beautiful...this is a great product at the advertised price of $29.99 CAD. And that is the primary reason I chose this product, the ability to dismount it and use it as a water cannon on myself, or unsuspecting recipients of my addiction for personal amusement.I highly recommend this product despite some flaws. I also suggest arbitrarily spraying your wife and children with water if an opportunity of such comedic value presents itself. But do form an escape plan. :/

Good features, not so good durability

I've been through 3 of these shower heads. I use these for my camper, it has a mode that concentrates the water so it comes out with "more pressure", along with three other modes. I use this almost daily, I stay at my camper 5 days out of the week for work. The lever to change between the water modes is the main issue I have with this shower head. They've lasted me anywhere from 6-8 months before the lever stops changing the water mode. At that point it's useless to me.Despite it having good features, the weak/cheap internal construction has forced me to look elsewhere.I've decided on a shower head that you rotate the whole head to toggle between modes. Perhaps that switching method's construction is sturdier than this small internal switch.

Works Well at First

For the first year and a half this shower head has been awesome! I’ve loved the different pressure it has. It’s so relaxing. However, after that, it stops working well. For the past few days, I haven’t been able to change the water pressure; so I’ve either had super stabby water or a really fine mist. Neither are conducive for having a very functional shower. I don’t know if this is a common issue.

last a year

After about a year the switch mechanism starts to deteriorate. Only by turning off the water, switching, turning on the water again, I am still able to switch through the shower modes.

Works well, but switching to different flow types

Probably depends on your water hardness but it seems to have trouble over time switch between the spray types.

Trouble

This shower head was working great, i loved every function however after 1 week it started malfunctioning. The functions weren't working. When I contacted customer service they immediately shipped another. I'm happy about that. I haven't received the new one yet.
