They work great. They’re heavy, not flimsy like some knives.

Lost my cheapo box cutter so grabbed this off Amazon. So far so good. Works well and seems well made

Love this & plan to order another! Took away one star because it doesn't come with any instructions & it took me awhile to figure out that the additional replacement blades are in a compartment within the box cutter itself, and also that the original blade was already inserted & to figure out how to un-retract. I'm not a "handy" person, so instructions would have been helpful. But it's really a 5-star product overall, because it broke down boxes like a dream & was so easy to hold, yet seems very sturdy.

I frequently use utility knifes, especially for opening all the boxes we get from Amazon orders. I had misplaced one of my knifes so I decided to try this one. Unfortunately the blades could not be properly inserted into the first knife I received. I couldn’t even use it with a single blade. I contacted Amazon and they sent me a replacement. The replacement works PERFECTLY. And it cost much less than the utility knife I lost. Had the first one worked I would have rated this knife with 5 stars because the replacement knife has worked as advertised. But since the first one didn’t work I only rated this knife 4 stars because I wanted to be honest about my overall experience.

After reviewing products that are supposed to be good for opening clam shell packaging, and for cutting thick cardboard, I bought four(4) different types and was totally disappointed with each. In my opinion, if your thinking about buying one of these “special” cutters, don’t. The inexpensive utility knife and the less expensive box cutter does a much better job, and are more versatile and reliable. These have replaceable blades and the others do not. Another option would be a pair of heavy duty scissors which could also be used, although not as efficiently.UPDATEKnife weak locking mechanism. I’ve dropped it a couple of times (from about 8”) and knife sprung open, spilling blades about the floor.

No real complaints, except the blades it comes with are quite dull. Otherwise, works as intended; no malfunctions.

As user Steve noted, the blade replacement mechanism is extremely fragile. Mine broke within a month of light/medium use (breaking down typical cardboard boxes).I now presumably have to probe the rubber grip area to find the attaching screws, and unscrew the two halves to replace the blade. It's surprising such a critical component of the design would be made of fragile plastic (the interior blade locking mechanism, which is supposed to be released when pressing the orange oval-shaped button), instead of metal like the enclosure.

I have never broke so many blades before with a utility knife, it is very sturdy but the mouth seems to be at an angle that loves to snap blades at the slightest off center motion. Still, it's beefy and gives you heft.
