I am very happy with this product and the price was exceptionally good.
I love the multiple grind settings from fine to course. It lets me pick any grind that I want. Also, the variable timer settings allows just the right amount of coffee to be ground and dumped right into the filter without measuring.
After years of using a Krups blade grinder to feed my drip machine, I discovered the joy of Chemex pour over coffee. So much more control over the taste, no bitterness, etc. But because of the need for a more uniform grind, my uneven little Krups would literally no longer "cut" it. I looked at the 1st gen Fellow Ode for high-end $169 flat burr, this OXO for mid-level $99 conical burr, and the ever-popular Cuisinart Burr Grinder DBM-8P1 $59 flat burr as an entry-level model. I got to play with the Fellow and Cuisi at William Sonoma. My verdict: The Cuisinart created a huge amount of static electricity in the plastic cup sending coffee powder everywhere, plus the amount of what they call "fines" created even on the coarse setting (I actually found whole beans it missed as well), plus the surprisingly high noise level made it a pass for me. The Fellow was gorgeous, of course, all metal (no static) and very quiet, but messy, and does not do an espresso grind (whaat???) + a full hundred more than the Cuisi. Pass. Then the OXO. No static stainless cup, conical burr (acceptably quiet) that you can easily pull out to clean, plus man can it grind! And I mean everything. Want a powder-fine espresso? You got it. Want a course French press? You got that too. No "fines" no missed beans or chunks. Just perfect, uniform grinds every time. Mid-priced, mid-quiet, Goldilocks-approved. Now if they could add a little cleaning brush, it would be perfect. :)
Just used a couple of times, but enjoying it so far.
This was actually a replacement which Oxo provided when my original seized up. Happy with the product and very pleased with Oxo customer service
Lots of grind size choices that are easy to choose. Timer works great allowing me to simply dump ground coffee directly into the filter from the grinder container. Also a don’t find this noisy. Great choice.
