Just longer please!

My teen loves these pants, they are *almost* perfect. These are essentially the pants version of the “Woven Tech E-Waist” shorts, which is what we hoped. They’re very well made for the price, and have a hidden side pocket with a small nicely sewn zipper on the seam at the waist. The fabric is very stretchy. I was concerned at first the texture on the inside would chafe but it doesn’t seem to. The pants unfortunately are a very specific cut, with a shorter inseam. You can see in the photo if you look closely, they’re above the ankle bone. Same on my 5’8” teen. This looks stylish with no socks and specific shoes but looks goofy with socks, sneakers, sport sandals... If they were just a touch longer they’d be the perfect “all occasion” pant for all different people. The boys version of these pants have an elastic bottom (not a rib knit cuff) and longer inseam, and my kid wore them for a week straight camping and then on a cruise from lounging to “dressy dining room”. Unfortunately this men’s style won’t cut it in the dining room this year except with that one type of shoe as shown. This is too bad because the fabric is utter perfection: it washes and dries easily, doesn’t wrinkle much, doesn’t grab lint and pet hair, feels like a lounging or athletic fabric, and looks like a dressy twill. Whomever is getting pills on it probably dried it too hot (which will kill the spandex too) or introduced some unusual amount of friction. Pills at friction points (inner thighs) isn’t that unusual even for good quality fabrics; a fabric shaver is a good thing to have. These don’t pill from normal washing (judging by the shorts made from the same fabric, which we’ve now washed 20 times). I can see how the fit might be odd. My kid finds the waist very loose and I agree he couldn’t size down in the legs (and he’s a teen with thin legs). The company gets it right with the shorts which use the same cut from crotch up, but would do well to cut a straighter leg from there down. At any rate, if these fit you well, they’re a great all-around multi-purpose pant. The fabric and construction rival pants from REI that cost twice as much (and are also too short).
