Alfa R36 USB router

This model Alfa R36 is a special 802.11n router with a USB port that allows you to share the long range Wi-Fi connection of the Alfa Tube-U(N) outdoor USB wireless adapter. Now you can extend a weak Wi-Fi signal to all of your devices such as smartphones, printers, and tablets.

Alfa Tube-U(N) outdoor USB Wi-Fi receiver

This component comes with a 8m (26 feet) USB cable that runs to the USB port on the R36. This is the receiving radio that picks up the distant Wi-Fi signal. It has an N-male antenna connector. It features a 1-watt (1000mW) high power amplifier and is light-weight and easy to mount (it is 4.1 ounces and just over 6.5 inches tall). Simply use the two included mounting ties to fasten it to almost any type of infrastructure. It is fully weatherproof and can handle outdoor temperatures down to freezing.

If desired the Tube-U(N) can also be plugged into the USB port of a compatible Windows computer to extend range just to that PC, but using it with the R36 will allow you to share reception with multiple Wi-Fi enabled devices at once.

AOA-2409TF outdoor fiberglass encased 9 dBi omni antenna

This antenna fits right into the Tube-U(N) model Wi-Fi receiver and gives you excellent reception range with a wider scope of vertical axis coverage as well, useful for pickup up Wi-Fi signals bouncing off obstacles. It is a light-weight outdoor omni-directional antenna priced much lower than comparable products from competing brands. It is 1.5 feet tall.

How it works

Use all three of these components above together to boost and share a Wi-Fi signal. Simply connect your computer to the R36 via ethernet cable for a one-time configuration and setup. Connect the AOA-2409TF antenna to the Tube-U(N) receiver, then connect the Tube-U(N) to the USB port on the R36. Using Wi-Fi scanning software built-into the R36 that you will see during the setup wizard, you can scan for and connect to available wireless networks in your area. Once the R36 has connected to a network, you will be prompted to name and password protect your own new local Wi-Fi network, offering any device within a few hundred feet the ability to use the same distant Wi-Fi signal.
