We at Tanga take pride in our company culture that includes a Movie Poster wall, a Baby Pictures wall, daily planking, weekly meditation, corporate Bitmoji, dress up days, community service, monthly off-site events and more! Our main cheerleader and CEO Jeremy Young aka TangaMonkey mapped it out for Entrepreneur.com. Dive in!
“Serial entrepreneur Jeremy Young has started and sold a series of companies for up to eight figures each, including comedic T-shirt retailer, LOLShirts.com and artisan retailer BelleChic. Currently, he’s the CEO of daily deals company Tanga, in Chandler, Ariz. The veteran entrepreneur sees company culture as the key ingredient in a successful startup.
He says a strong culture boosts revenues, profits, stock price and valuation. However, “culture isn’t something that comes naturally,” he said at Phoenix Startup Week, an event sponsored by Chase for Business. “As a CEO, you have to think about culture and build it.”
During his keynote address at the event, Young shared his opinion on 13 ways a company culture can get derailed in a startup…."

“Someone tells me they doubled the traffic to their website through marketing. I want to know, was it from 100 users to 200 users or from 1 million to 2 million?” says Matt Verbin, CFO and hiring manager of e-commerce platform Tanga.com. “Or they say they cut costs by doing X, Y and Z. Great, but what financial impact did that have? Hiring managers love seeing dollars and quantities of impact.”

Internet Retailer Magazine, February 2016
“Tanga has a unique view on marketplace management and knows how important inventory controls are. The mass merchant sells its own goods on Tanga.com and other marketplaces, while also operating its own marketplace that allows other merchants to list products for sale as daily deals or limited-time flash sales. It works with hundreds of vendors and carries a frequently rotating range of products at low prices meant to drive impulse purchases.
“We have company revenues of deep eight-figures and strong double-digit growth,” says Jeremy Young, founder and CEO, declining to be more specific. “We act both as a platform for smaller retailers to sell their products and as a retailer selling our inventory on different platforms.” Tanga recently began working with ChannelAdvisor to add Tanga’s own products to marketplaces including Amazon, eBay, Jet and Trade Me, an auction/classifieds marketplace in New Zealand, he says.
Tanga’s staff had to tackle the categorization issue when it began selling on marketplaces because it wanted to make the single feed more usable across the marketplaces. “We streamlined our categorization based on common search terms and generally accepted product terminology,” Young says. “This allows for products such as Beats by Dre headphones to also be found using search terms such as ‘earphones’ and ‘earbuds.’ Actual product categorization has also been significantly overhauled to avoid unnecessary specification, which can lead to products being difficult to find via our navigational headings.” This was, and continues to be, a labor and time-intensive process that Tanga’s staff tackles manually, Young says."

The Arizona chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI) named Matt Verbin, Tanga’s Chief Financial Officer, a finalist for the 2015 FEI CFO of the Year Award. Selected by an independent set of judges from Arizona’s business community and academia, Verbin was honored at a special event at JW Marriott in Scottsdale last night.
The CFO of the Year Awards celebrate the achievements of outstanding senior level financial professionals in Arizona. The nominations recognize CFOs for exemplary financial management, contributions to their organizations, and involvement in the Arizona business community.
Since joining Tanga as CFO in 2013, Verbin has used a combination of creative internal financing and cost saving methods to significantly reduce expenses and improve cash flow for the completely bootstrapped company. He is responsible for all finance, accounting, legal, HR, operations, real estate, insurance, and customer service functions. Recently, he has established a sophisticated business intelligence department, introduced profitable new lines of business, and overseen the move to an employee-friendly and modern facility in downtown Chandler, making Tanga one of the best places to work in Phoenix.
Jeremy Young, founder & CEO of Tanga, said, “From the day he joined the company, Matt has made a major impact on all aspects of our business. Not only did he free me up to focus more on building the company, he has also contributed immensely to our company’s efficiency, strategic planning, and financial growth. We are thrilled Matt was honored; this is a well-deserved recognition.”

CHANDLER, AZ, August 17, 2015 — Inc. magazine today ranked Tanga.com number 1687 on its 34th annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. Tanga’s three year sales growth of 241% earned them entry to the list that represents has featured companies such as Yelp, Pandora, Timberland, Dell, Domino’s Pizza, LinkedIn, and Zillow in the past.
“Being recognized for the second straight year on the Inc. 5000 list is a huge honor for our small company,” said Jeremy Young, CEO and founder of Tanga. “We believe that shopping is fun when you find something new, exciting and best of all, at a no-brainer price. Especially when you weren’t expecting it! It’s that joy of discovery that keeps us pushing hard to find amazing deals for our customers.”

As Young added products from many verticals, customers kept flocking to the site to discover the latest deal. Since that time, millions of customers have enjoyed Tanga’s deals on well-known brands at closeout prices.

“Every day customers find mind-blowing deals on brands they care about,” said Young. “It’s like a treasure hunt for them. They never know what they’re going to find.”
“What surprises me, even though I know it’s coming, is the sheer variety of the paths our entrepreneurs take to success, thematically reflecting how our economy has evolved,” says Inc. President and Editor-In-Chief Eric Schurenberg. “What doesn’t change is the fearsome creativity unleashed by American entrepreneurship.”

Views: 1,045Introducing TangaExpress™: Cut Your Shipping Time in Half
Tanga is a small company that works with larger companies to bring you the best deals. This means slightly longer shipping times than you might be used to, however, you can sleep well knowing that you’ll be getting the absolute best prices on the internet.
And now…Tanga is happy to introduce TangaExpress™, our speedier shipping service on select products!
Look for the NEW TangaExpress Icon
Whenever you see the TangaExpress icon on a product listing, that item is eligible for upgraded, faster shipping service. For a modest upcharge, we can cut the shipping times in half for that particular item.
- Regular shipping time for these items average 6-12 business days.
- TangaExpress shipping time will average 3-6 business days.
While TangaExpress shipping service is only available on a portion of our products, we expect to roll this out on more and more products in the future.FAQsWhy don’t you offer TangaExpress on all items?
Tanga obtains products from all over the world. We have a few primary warehouses that we use but much of our product is shipped from different locations. We are rolling out the TangaExpress program on items found in our primary warehouses to begin. We hope to roll out this program on more products in the future. What about other Expedited options, such as Next Day service?
Not available yet, but could be in the future. Why do you calculate the shipping on each item?
As mentioned above, our products ship from various warehouse locations. Sometimes from our primary warehouse, sometimes directly from the manufacturer/partner from whom we acquire the goods. As shipping charges vary from location to location, we have to charge them individually when they are sent in separate shipments.
