Did I get a bad batch?

I enjoy bold coffee. Some of my favorites are Tully's French & Italian Roasts, Newman's Organic Bold, and starbucks K cups (if on sale). Usually any bold roast is just fine for me, and I find as I approach 40, I'm taking my coffee closer and closer to black. I enjoy the taste of a bold roast, and tend to add 1/2 a teaspoon of sugar and a drop of half and half, if any. My Keurig has 3 brew buttons, and I generally use the middle one.I had family coming for the weekend, and my dad drinks decaf, and mom and sister prefer lighter roasts, which I just generally find too weak. I found this sample pack, and thought it would include a bit of everything, for everyone. Included was 3 types of bold, (express-o, fuggedaboutit, French Roast and one other, as well as a breakfast blend decaf, and a few flavored coffees (cinnamon, vanilla, caramel and chocolate).Once, when I was really tired, I accidentally brewed a K cup twice, forgetting to put a new one in. It was pretty gross, kind of weak and smelled like old grounds. This is the experience I had with every single one of the dark or bold roast coffees. They all tasted like they've been brewed twice, tasting both stale and weak. I can manage about two sips, then down the sink it goes. I tried brewing it on the smallest cup size, to make it stronger, but it didn't help.I don't particularly like flavored coffee anymore, but tried the caramel, and it tasted like caramel flavor in hot water to me. That said, the other members of the family seemed to like it ok, but they also like their cream and sugar with a little coffee in it.I was excited to try out a new brand, and love the packaging, and the fact it's a small business, but the coffee just isn't... well, it isn't MY cup of coffee, so to speak. Off to shop around for something else. If you like Dunkin Donuts coffee, this might be your brand, but if you're an espresso or starbucks drinker, probably best to give this one a pass.

Not for the Bold At Heart

I am giving this 2 stars instead of one because the company is very nice and was very kind in trying to figure out why I was disappointed in their product. I drink bold coffee and if you are used to drinking Green Mountain Sumatran Reserve or Dark Magic, then this is NOT the coffee for you. If you like a really rich strong coffee flavor intermingling with your milk and sugar, this is NOT the coffee for you. If you like to drink a 10 - 12 oz cup at a time, this is NOT the coffee for you. I'm from Brooklyn and had high hopes with the cute names and all but this was NOT the coffee for me. So the real rating on the coffee is a ONE STAR but remember if you are a medium to light coffee flavor lover than bold is for you. To Fugettaboutit, Express-O, Boardwalk, were tasteless so that my coffee tasted like brewed cardboard mixed with milk and sugar. The French Roast has a hint of coffee flavor but you have to make a 6oz cup for that. I didn't bother with Corner Donut or Cyclone. I'm gonna save them for company that I know is too polite to comment and just drink it with a smile while I slip myself a Green Mountain so there will be some sort of coffee smell in the air.

Clogs your Keurig!

I would give this flavor five stars because it smells and tastes so good! I love flavored coffee, but I drink a lot of decaf. I really wanted to love this coffee. The problem is that it clogs the needle of my Keurig multiple times during EVERY time I brew a cup. Why is this? Is it ground incorrectly? I have never had a problem with any other brand of k-cups, even those that I did not purchase at keurig.com. I will not buy this again because it's a pain to have to reset the k-cup multiple times during every brew in order to get a full cup, and then to have to do a "cleansing" brew to clear out the machine. Also, you pretty much have to chew the last couple of swallows because of all of the grounds! Lovely flavor, but no, thanks.

Sorry, but not a decaf worth drinking

Switching to decaf I knew that trying to even come close to the dark roasted flavor and "bite" of a non-decaf coffee would be next to impossible. The Brooklyn Beans "dark roast" decaf was a huge disappointment -- tasting like a watered-down version of a light regular blend. Of the many decaf coffee brands that I have tried, this ranks up there with the least flavorful and has no "body" to speak of. On the other hand, the Tully's French Roast decaf is at the opposite end of the spectrum with a full-body taste and a slight bite of a non-decaf cup of coffee. Maybe Brooklyn Beans regular coffees are good, but as for decaf, I won't be buying it again - Sorry.

Leaky k-cups - coffee grounds in my coffee and leaking out of the pods

My main problem with these pods is that they leak grounds - badly. Almost every cup has loose coffee grounds in it, and I have to keep cleaning the stray grounds out of my Keurig so it doesn't clog. When I remove the spent cup from the keurig, I have to be sure to cover the puncture with my finger immediately - or it drips soggy coffee grounds all over the place. Also, the flavor leaves a lot to be desired. I don't really taste the gingerbread. They're not bad coffee pods - just rather bland for a flavored coffee. I will not buy these again.

I've Had Bolder Medium Roasts

I was disappointed with this coffee. It is advertised as a "dark roast" coffee, but honestly, I've had bolder medium roasts. I buy dark roast coffee because I like my coffee bolder, so that it has a bit of a bitter bite and a smooth finish. Unfortunately, I had to use two pods brewed on the smallest cup size into the same mug to get the desired strength so that it was even remotely similar to any other dark roast I've ever bought. Don't get me wrong: The coffee is good, fresh coffee and it has a smooth finish, but it's missing that "bite" of boldness that dark roast drinkers enjoy. Everytime I took a sip, I kind of swirled the coffee around on my tongue trying to find the "bold, smokey flavor with a smooth finish" but I could mostly just get a hint of coffee flavor like I get when someone gives me a light or medium roast. I feel bad leaving this review but I'm just being truthful, so please remember that taste is highly subjective and varies from person-to-person. I'm sure the beans are of good quality. But I think they needed to be roasted a bit longer to release more of the essential oils that go into making a dark roast.

Poor variety

MOST of the variety was tea...and most of the was flavored with lemon, which I do not like. I expected more coffee.

Weak and watery

I read the reviews, very impresive, too bad they don't express the truth. The coffee in the sampler pack is mostly on the weak side, like drinking hot water. I will not buy Brooklyn Beans.

Not compatible with my Keurig 2.0

Not compatible with my Keurig 2.0 but it says compatible on the box. So I'm stuck with 40 k cups. Also, the box had some coffee powder spilt all over the cups.
