Excellent for Designing Your Own Shirts

Bought this Cricut machine to make t-shirts and its quickly become a favorite for my kids who Love making their own decals. We’ve made shirts and sticker using both the web-app as well as the iPad app and it’s such an easy process even my kids have done it themselves. For Spring Break we took the family to Disneyland and had planned to wear matching shirts that I designed. Initially I received quotes from online shirt makers and the cost of that one project was easily higher than the cost of a cricut machine + materials. So we decided to make them ourselves. The shirts came out amazing and even after a few washes they still look brand new. One small negative I have however is the cricut app. I with there were more ways to edit your image template to ensure the decals come out perfect. It’s happened a few times where I’ll drop in an image I’ve made and the cricut app processes it in a way that rounded out some sharp corners. Other than that the cricut is great for medium-large format decals, shirt transfers, etc. If you’ve ever paid someone to make custom shirts or decals for you (or are considering doing so), I highly recommend considering a cricut instead.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

I LOVE this machine, at first I couldn't get it to calibrate so I called Cricut and they suggested that there was a defect which i found out there wasn't. I was the defect lol as I just needed someone that knew how to work it show me and I found a friend to help. The possibilities with this new machine are endless and I'm very happy I bought it. The sellers are great to deal with they were going to refund my $ as they didn't have another machine but I was happy to find out it wasn't the machine so I consider this a great purchase.

A little perseverance was required, but the machine itself is very impressive

I'm a novice. This is my first crafting machine of the sort. It took some work, but I was able to create some really fantastic stickers. Here are some of the roadbumps I ran into. 1. Bluetooth? Ugh, why doesn't it just use wireless? Better yet, how about an ethernet port? I ended up running a USB cable down a hallway with a blutetooth dongle on the end. I guess they don't figure people will try to edit on a PC in one room and cut in another. If I had a tablet, there's no way I would use that for Cricut Design Space. It's tedious enough with keyboard and mouse. 2. I was dealing with entirely imported jpg images, but I wanted to round the corners slightly. There are several decent youtube tutorials on how to make a template object that could slice off corners. The frustrating problem I ran into was that sometimes the slice would work, sometimes not. For whatever reason, it was often not slicing the upper left corner. If I rebuilt my template (which takes a few minutes), it would slice maybe 25% of the time and after a successful slice, the template wouldn't work a second time, so I would keep making the template over and over. This was very tedious for the dozens of different stickers I was trying to make. Eventually I had the idea of scaling everything up, then slicing, then shrinking it all back down and that solved the problem entirely. 3. So I bought Cricut's Printable Vinyl. This stuff is pretty amazing, but there aren't many helpful details on the product or on the website about the product. I searched up some youtube videos and some people are using a standard mat, some people are using a lightgrip mat. Given the color of the packaging (green), I'd think to use the standard mat, but how about just making that clear on the packaging or website? Also, what's the weight of the paper so I can set my printer up correctly? Again, not on the packaging or the website. I was a little worried that the vinyl cuts might be a little rough, since I'd been making test cuts on paper for a few days and cuts through paper were a little iffy. But using the correct setting (custom, printable vinyl), the cuts came out perfect. Also, I eventually learned to use a standard mat and set my HP Officejet 200 Mobile to Specialty Paper - Matte. I was extremely impressed with the results. Cutting on something other than paper really showed off how incredible this machine is. The Cricut brand Printable Vinyl is a very high quality product and even when I stuck it to some Lego bricks slightly misaligned (several times), I was able to pull it off and re-stick it without damaging the vinyl at all. And it doesn't leave any residue either. Lots of work just for a one-of gift idea, but now that I have it, I can probably find uses for this machine in the future.

Inlove!!

The media could not be loaded. Always wanted to purchase this product but was initially scared because of some of the reviews found about this problem. Please note that you do not need Cricut Access to use this machine. I am inlove with this product. Would definitely upgrade to the advance machines in the future. I would recommend to anyone who loves crafting.

Nagging wife? This will distract her for HOURS each day.

Hands down the best Christmas gift I have ever bought for my wife. She has raved about this thing to all her family and friends, and has thanked me numerous times. Guys, you know how you get in trouble when you're watching the game and she is trying to talk to you about something unimportant and she catches you not listening? This is the exact state that she will be in cutting up little pieces of paper with this thing. Hours will go by and she won't even realize it. She won't notice any of the projects that you're behind on. The baby could be crying in the other room and she would have no idea. If the house was on fire, she would grab this thing before the photo albums. You could tell her you're going to the strip club with the boys, and she would probably give you some spending money and tell you to have a great time. Another guy on here said that if this thing vibrated, he would be divorced...Dead on.

Who knew I was actually so creative?! I now have a side business thanks to Cricut & Amazon!!!

Love is a strong word... but I love my Cricut! At first when I bought this machine, I thought, I'm really not all that crafty and I probably won't ever use this machine and it'll collect dust just like all the big dollar items I've purchased over the years BUT little did I know that I'd start cutting vinyl and end up making a business out of it!!! I now have a steady flow of customers that buy from me on Etsy and eBay daily! I'm definitely more creative than I thought I was and I actually love sitting down to design decals and cut them out with my Cricut Explorer Air 2! Even though I've only mentioned vinyl, this machine does SO SO SO much more. I believe it cuts 100 different types of materials including vinyl but I've had so much fun cutting vinyl decals that I've yet to explore any of the other projects that you can make with this little work horse! So far, I'm still using the original blade that it came with (fine point) and it cuts like a dream! If you're curious about this machine and would like to hear more about what all it does, go to QVC or HSN on YouTube and watch the sales videos. That's how I first heard about it. It really does give you a good idea of what you can do with it. I recently made two heat transfer vinyl shirts with this machine as well and I get compliments on the shirts all the time! I now have a new hobby to this little work horse! Thanks Amazon for selling it to me at such a low price on Amazon Prime Day!!! Thanks Cricut for making such a wonderful product, and thank you for allowing Cricut users to use your design software FREE without having to purchase a separate license to use your Design Software!

HEAVEN

Okay, maybe it is because i started out with the Cameo 3, but this thing is a little slice of heaven. It took 3 hours for my genius husband to help me figure out how to cut HTV on the cameo, and even then we still had to cut certain spots ourselves. It was a nightmare. Took me less than 3 minutes from the time I first plugged my Cricut in, until my HTV design was done and cut. This thing is AMAZING. way outbeats the cameo. Only thing is i wish it was better at cutting felt, but I hear the maker is good at that.

The hit of dopamine I’ve been waiting for

This machine is AWESOME! The software to use this machine was easily downloaded on the cricut website! I’ll admit, it’s a bit of a learning curve but YouTube has tutorials for everything! So far I’ve made 3 cards and a label for our brush (affectionately called The Egg Brush because it is shaped sort of like an egg.) Keep in mind before purchasing that there will be more you’ll need to get such as weeding tools, transfer paper, a standard mat and vinyl. All in all including machine I think I’ve spend close to $300-$320. To me this investment is worth it! It’s fun and has many different uses.

Great for home projects - even better for school room mom/PTO projects

I love this little thing. I have tried to make pajamas for my kids and fail miserably at the top. With this, I just have to see the pants and buy a t-shirt that I can customize with the heat transfer vinyl. I loaded up on some cricut branded materials. They aren’t bad - but you can get cheaper that works just as well. My wife is really excited to use this for PTO/room parent projects for the kids classrooms and teachers. I like that you can add markers and write/draw just about anything. We made the teachers some cards and they came out really nice. The materials can get expensive, so make sure you nest your cuttings well and save scraps. Still learning all of the things I can do with this. I’m looking forward to cutting out stencils that I can use to paint wood projects I have planned. This thing is incredibly versatile and I’m sure I’ll still be coming up with new uses for it years from now.
