I recently bought Apple iPhone 8 for my dad, which was his very first Apple product. He asked me to buy an extra charging cable so he can keep it inside his car for charging while using it as GPS. I have purchased lightning cables from 3rd party vendor many times in the past but they all end up not being recognized by iphones and iPads after a year or so (most likely due to iOS updates) and I didn't want to go through the hassle of returning or buying another one for my dad so I just bought this authentic cable by Apple and this is what I should have done in the past. I currently have iPhone 8 and XR, and have confirmed that this cable works perfectly with both phones. This cable feels and works just like the one that came with the iPhone. THE BOTTOM LINE: 5 out of 5 stars. You can't go wrong with authentic Apple cable. You get what you pay for and in this case, you are paying for the quality and peace of mind, as well as valuable time not wasted in returning for exchange/refund, etc. I hope this helps and if it did, please click on the helpful button below!

I originally got this cord to charge my phone until I got the lightning usb-c cord and block. It did the job just fine. I also, currently, work as a delivery driver and I needed a cord to take with me to work so I can connect my phone to listen to music, while charging my phone as well. This product is the perfect length for when I’m in my personal car or my delivery van. I don’t regret the buy. I gave this cord 4 out of 5 stars for charging power, 5 out of 5 stars for the length, & 3 out of 5 stars for durability. The best Apple charger in my opinion is the lightning usb-c cord (very fast), but it isn’t compatible in most cars. Hence my rating for this cord. As I said before, the length is perfect for use in the car. It’s not too long or too short. As for the durability, my rating is based off of Apple cords I’ve had in the past. Since getting the lightning cord and block for my home, this cord is only used in vehicles.

I bought this in Nov, 2020, and it is a genuine Apple product, came sealed in the Apple-branded packaging. It works as it should, however, the casing that covers the wiring has broken where the cord meets the Lightening connector. I only use it in my car, and it stays there. It’s not taken in and out. It works fine, charges as it should, but now that the wiring is exposed I have to replace it. Seems like Apple could reinforce the areas where the cord connects to the connectors at each end. I’ve seen 3rd party products that do that, but I prefer to use genuine Apple products to protect my phone.

These may not last as long as some lightning cables but they're easier on your expensive iPhone, iPod, etc. A lot of the third party cables have much larger connectors at the device end, with longer strain reliefs, thicker stiffer cables, etc, all of which end up putting a lot more stress on lightning jack in the device (it's a simple concept called leverage and torque). I'd rather buy a cheap cable every year or two than a new $600+ Apple device because a poorly designed third party cable trashed the lightning port and Apple products are all but un-repairable these days. They just want to sell you a new or refurbished one unless you pay for Apple Care and that only lasts two years.

The only Apple product I use regularly is an iPad Mini 3. I am technically literate when it comes to Windows, but am a dummy when it comes to Apple products. All I know is that this official Apple Lightning cable (and yes, it is official) works better than the third-party alternatives. I sometimes need to connect my iPad to my Windows PCs. I've had a few third party Lightning cables for that. When they work, they identify the iPad as an Unknown Device and the iPad prompts me to put in my Passcode to Trust the PC to which I've connected. Oftentimes, the third-party cables would straight up fail or not acknowledge the iPad to the PC. I'd have to reset my PC, try different USB ports and even update iTunes. This has resulted in misery and time wasted every time I needed to do anything with my iPad. This official Apple cable was like day to third party's night. You plug in the cable to the iPad and to the PC. And it connects. I get one Trust prompt the very first time I connect my iPad to a new PC - but no Trust prompts after that. No need to enter my Passcode every time I connect. No hours spent playing with USB cables. DONE. I don't know whether this is a result of Apple's engineering or the shoddiness of some of my third-party cables. But if an official Apple Lightning cable does the job without grief or wasting my time, I'll use it and recommend it.

Received 6/15/21 Apparently other reviewers received non Apple products in 2018, that issue has been corrected, these are the real deal. As for Nina Tavares' review on 6/17/19, you can see the 4th terminal from the left is black or discolored. This usually results from someone (usually a toddler) putting this in their mouth while its plugged in. I don't know if they get a tingle or what, but it instantly ruins the plug. Doesn't matter if it's Apple or not, keep it out of the mouth!!

Very flimsy made and doesn’t hold a charge.

This is, indeed, the authentic Apple USB-lightning cord. I do not get a notice it is incompatible, and I can see the exterior material is more sturdy than the knockoff brands made to look like authentic Apple product. ..and yes, I have purchased the other well contructed brands that are not compatible. If Apple would accept other sturdy cords, that would be acceptable to me because there are some cords sold that are much longer and are very well made. However, if you want no incompatibility issues, I found this cord is authentic Apple product.

Honestly, who steals a charging cable? Someone broke into my truck, couldn’t find anything of value, but they took my charging cable. I bought this one to replace it because it is the same cord that came with the phone. The length is perfect from the dashboard to the center console and it is a brand I trust.
No, take back! Bad reviews
It arrived four days prior to promised date! OMG was thrilled! Shorter than expected but suitable. Sturdy and does the job. It’s a stupid plug. Timing was most important to me. Was $15 but means nothing to me. No idea what it’s suppose to be? All I knew was that I needed a bla bla and boom, it was there on my steps!!!! Amazon is amazing!!! I am floored. Was here in less than 48 hours? Not to mention my other products that also arrived. I have a love/hate relationship with them. I love them today. Thank you today🥳
