Sold my AMAZFIT Stratos for this, no regrets

So far this watch is what I needed from the start. I did like the AMAZFIT but this Forerunner is what I really needed. I ride 20-50 miles everyday and need a GPS watch to log all of my rides and upload to STRAVA. This thing excels at that and it also ties into my chest heart monitor from MYZONE and my WAHOO Cadence meter at the same time. Logs everything and upload to STARVA automatically. I also use it INDOORS and it does the same thing except for tracking since it is INDOORS on a stationery bike. If you were thinking about the AMAZFIT and ride a lot, or run!!! Get the GARMIN and skip the AMAZFIT! BTW....battery life is way beyond the AMAZFIT. I am getting about 12 days of work on this watch in battery life compared to 3-5 days on the AMAZFIT.

Not noticing this piece of high-tech strapped to my arm means I will happily wear it 24x7

I've owned Garmin Fenix 1, 3 and 5S. I wanted a smaller watch and got the 5S, but realized what I really wanted was a lighter one after trying the Garmin 935, so I returned the 5S. I forget I have the 935 on because it is so light while I was always reminded I had the 5S on because of it's weight. Also the screen resolution on the 935 is higher than the 5S (935 resolution is same as the 5 and 5X). For folks saying the 935 is not as durable because it is all 'plastic', it is actually the same reinforced polymer as what is on the Fenix 5 series, except on the 5 you get a steel back and brezel. But the body of the 935 is made from the same reinforced polymer as the core housing as Fenix 5, but just the entire body is uniformly made from the reinforced polymer and that has resulted in a much lighter and thinner watch. It is by all means the same as a Fenix 5, just slimmed down. Not noticing this piece of high-tech strapped to my arm means I will happily wear it 24x7. Garmin has finally made the Fenix 5 I have always wanted with the Forerunner 935.

So glad I got the 935 instead of the Fenix 5...

I first bought the Fenix 5 and 5s but returned them both. I just wasn't turned on by those watches as I had hoped I would. I then bought a Fenix 3. I really liked that watch but after a few days I just couldn't see my self running and biking with that thing. It's heft meant I had to keep that beast strapped to my wrist like a tourniquet! So I'm all sad because I was ready to throw down and be a Fenix fan boy when suddenly I start seeing comparisons to the Fenix 5 line and the Forerunner 935? Really? Really, so I got one and man I couldn't be happier. The 935 weighs half as much, does everything that a Fenix 5 does and has WiFi which only the Fenix 5 Sapphires do. Even the straps on this watch feel more comfortable than the ones on the Fenix 5/3. I can sleep with it on and it never feels uncomfortable. And the GPS and other features have been spot on (check the Garmin website Fenix 5 forums to know what I'm talking about). So if you're dead set on chasing the bling go ahead and get a Fenix, but if you will actually run and bike and hike your ass off like I do, definitely get the 935.

I Freaking Love This Watch!

Awesome workout buddy and fitness tool. I've had this for about two weeks now, and it works flawlessly for running, biking and swimming. Huge upgrade from my old Garmin 910xt, which after many years finally bonked and started giving ridiculous elevation readings. This watch is lightweight, thin, and I find the wrist-based heartrate monitoring is really excellent; I've not yet paired it with my old chest strap and I probably won't need to. Downloadable and customizable watch faces and widgets make this even more fun and impressive. Auto-uploading works like a champ, no more heading to the computer to plug in the ANT stick after a workout; it auto-uploads activities through my phone using Garmin Connect, and also connects directly to my home wi-fi if my phone is off. Also a useful coach through sleep monitoring, and performance monitoring including training status, VO2 Max, recovery hours needed, weekly training load, and more. Also a good basic smartwatch with regard to receiving messages and alerts when in proximity of your phone, with apps available to extend functionality if you are into it. Finds and locks into satellites within seconds; battery life is astounding; full charge easily lasts more than a week.I also invested in a glass screen protector, which not only protects the watch face but also makes it look a little nicer with a no-smudge glossy shine. Went on perfectly and gives me some peace of mind.

Light and complete information

As far as everyone stating they received an asian model, I can say I did not and this was just purchased 02/21I had the previous version had loved it. What I like about this is the heart rate monitor on the wrist now. Also I had a Apple Iwatch 5 that I was using for swimming. Well that did not last long! The water cooked it and Apple warranty was over by a month! 3 rd Iwatch and last Iwatch.Light weight! Compared to IwatchBigger screen! Compared to IwatchI was surprised how this one has more abilities than the last model and the IwatchThe lactic threshold is great for Endurance training.Has find my phone feature! The battery lasts for a week, Apple!!!Always monitoring heart rateTransfer workouts to MyFitnessPalGPS is pretty accurate, when swimming in a pool may be off by 25yards?Running map of Garmin connect is great!! Shows Zones on map after runFor the price just get it.

Literally my favorite piece of tech

Before I starting training for my first 70.3, a friend recommended this watch. After doing my research, I decided to buy this one. It has far exceeded my expectations. I'm glad I didn't spend more to buy an even higher end Garmin, or some other brand. The battery life easily last several days, and several activities. It provides a tons of data. I will admit that I don't always reference all the data. It easily syncs with Strava. I even use the alarm every morning instead of an alarm on my iPhone so that it doesn't wake my wife. I even use the timer function on a daily basis to time how long my tea needs to steep. I know this sounds weird, but I love this thing. The only time I take it off is when I shower. It is also very lightweight so I don't mind wearing it all the time. I have typical "fashion" watches that I loved and wore daily before this. I rarely wear those anymore. I would buy this again without hesitation.

I dislike watches and I never take this one off!

This watch is amazing. Like I said, I dislike watches; I don't like them on my wrist, and I get annoyed at how easily I become slave to time-checking. I bought this for running and general physical activity (I own a Garmin bike computer so I probably won't use it for that). The watch feels great on my wrist. I am generally unaware of it due to the comfort level of the band. I tried a third party band and took it off after a couple of hours because it didn't fit as well.I use it for tracking, and I use a HR chest strap (generally more accurate). I tried a pair of UA Hovr Infinites with the embedded cadence sensor, and the watch picked it up immediately (the ONLY redeeming quality of those shoes).I've created routes and interval routines using Garmin Connect. Very handy to be able to quickly upload a workout to my watch and have it tell me what to do! I also enjoy using the cadence and HR alerts. The battery life is amazing. I charge it every couple of weeks when it drops to about 50%, or so.If you are looking for a social smart watch, this may not be the best option for you. It has limited text messaging capabilities and no NFC, both of which are fine by me. I bought my watch to workout, not to talk to people or pay for my lattes!

Great watch for the serious athlete.

When my Forerunner 410 finally bit the dust (battery life under 2 hours fully charged) I did a lot of research on Garmin and other watches and settled on the 935 to track my running training, backpacking, and off-trail running races. I couldn't be happier. It is light, the battery life is wonderful, and the analysis it provides through Garmin Connect is impressive. I was most impressed last weekend. At the end of several weeks of hard training my body was beaten down a bit. I have been running for a long time and am very familiar with the signs. When I came home from my run I noticed my training status had changed to "unproductive" for the first time (meaning training load is fine for my condition but I my fitness is decreasing suggesting being worn down). What algorithm it uses to differentiate the body breaking down vs. just having an off day (have had a couple of those over the last couple of weeks but didn't change my status) I don't know but I was impressed! My only complaint is the watch face got scratched on my first off-trail race. I knew that was one of the differences between the 935 and Fenix 5 but being a triathlon watch I expected the watch face to be a little more durable (after all I never had this problem with my 410). I promptly bought a screen protector and haven't had a problem since, so for new buyers that are likely to abuse this watch a bit I would definitely suggest doing the same.

Accurate but costly

I only use this watch for running. I run about eight miles per day at a good pace. The wrist-based heart rate monitor works well on my wrist when the strap is tight; any looseness and it becomes unreliable. Occasionally the heart rate shows higher than actual for the first three minutes, but then settles on the actual rate for the rest of the run. I have run the same course at the same pace both with and without the chest strap and the heart rates agree very closely. The GPS locks on to the satellites quickly, taking between 2 and 10 seconds – usually less than 4 seconds. I set it to use Glonass satellites. The GPS appears to be dead on accurate. I have three complaints: 1) When you push the stop button, it displays performance details that you cannot customize, i.e., time, distance, and pace. It would be much better if the user could select what metrics to view at that point. 2) When you push the lap button, it shows the time of the last lap. Again, it would be great if the user could customize what metrics to show. Better still, it could simply freeze the current display for ten seconds so you can review whatever metrics you already had selected. 3) The current pace appears to be an average over the last minute or so. I would rather this be over the last 10 seconds, or better still, configurable like Garmin’s bike computers. I purchased a screen protector and consider it essential; a watch this costly should come with one.
