Coming from another well-known higher-priced brand, this belt is a notch above.

I usually wait longer before I rate a product, but this one is pretty easy to rate based on my experience. First off, the 'clamp,' or whatever you call the piece that keeps the buckle attached to the belt itself, has much firmer of a grab than my last one ever had. I believe this is because the leather is thicker and more rigid than my last belt. Which brings me to my next point: the belt itself is pretty stiff which is weird at first, but has relaxed a bit already after about a week of use which I prefer. Lastly, the design of lifting the entire buckle to loosen it up is a GREAT idea. This is so much easier than the release I used with the last belt, though I can say based on the situation the release could be the better option. It does look like this design is simpler and a bit more robust, though. I expect to wear this belt even longer than my last one, but only time will tell. I will update this review should I ever experience any issues!

Comfort is the best selling point

So first of all, yes it is stylish. Second and more importantly, it works well to keep your pants up. Why this belt? It is comfortable. The ratchet closure keeps you from being in-between sizes, or if you are like be stubbornly denying that you need to go up one. It catches right where you need to be and stays put. That is one thing you might be wondering, when you sit down and your 40 year old man gut hits it does the belt slip, ratchet let loose? No not at all. Holds as tight as any other belt I have owned. I put a 5 star for durability but have not had it long. Should I find something gives way over time I will update.

Ratchet Belts are the Way To Go

This is my third belt from Marino Avenue. I've purchased a few because I like these belts and having different buckle options depending on what I am wearing. While other companies make these (e.g. Slidebelts, Mission, and a ton of other unrecognizable Chinese brands), I think Marino Avenue offers the best combination of style, design, performance, and price. You can save a bit of money by opting for one of these over a Slidebelt or Mission Belt with a slight drop in quality, as those companies do offer better leather options. That aside, these are great for everyday use with jeans or dress pants. The customization is as simple as cutting the proper length of the belt (I use simple kitchen shears), which is marked for you, clipping the teeth of the buckle to the leather, and snapping it shut. Then you can easily ratchet your size and the buckle itself has an easy release. My older Marino Avenue belt has a small release lever that is a bit harder to use, but I've never had and issue with any of them releasing by accident. Overall, I think ratchet belts allow for the most proper fit on your waist and the Marino Avenue options come nicely packaged, are well made, and perform flawlessly.

Could not ask for more! Very happy customer.

Really happy with the product and the seller! I got two of the belts one for my husband and one for my brother for Christmas. They are really nice quality! My husband had been wanting a belt like this for quite some time. He was very happy with it. My brother didn’t even know these types of belts existed haha. Once we explained he was so excited because he is a college football player and is constantly changing weight so he loved that he could adjust it. Unfortunately my husbands belt came with a dent in the buckle though so I was really sad as I had this sent to Florida since that is where we would be spending Christmas. I contacted the seller and explained the defective belt. They did not bat an eye when it came to sending me a replacement belt and even sent it to a different address for me since I would no longer be at the Florida address! They were prompt not only with their response to my concern but the replacement arrived extremely quick and I was given a tracking number as well. Best customer service I have received from an amazon seller. Would recommend this belt to anyone looking! I would give higher than 5 stars if I could.

Reminds me of when I discovered men's "Jeggings"

This belt rocks. I didn't expect it to be as nice and easy to use as it was. You basically size it by: 1) Putting the ratchet part directly in the middle of your waist (aligned with your belly button) 2) Wrap the other side of the belt around as if you were going to wear it. 3) Make note of the amount of the non-ratcheted end that's left. Leave a good 3-4 inches. 4) Cut the non-ratcheted end (the markers are already fairly accurate, but I left another size or two). I cut it down with a paper-cutter. 5) Slide the cut end into the toothed bracket facing down so the teeth dig into the numbered side. 6) Smash down the toothed bracket so it pokes holes in the underside of the leather (I recommend using cloth or something soft to do this and maybe even stepping on it to get it to go in. It is hard to smash down the teeth. Something soft will prevent any damage to your hand or the belt or the floor/surface) Pros: -Adjustable fit -Easy to adjust and put on (way easier than a normal belt) -Stylish (I was half expecting it to look velcro shoes compared to normal shoes or something similar) -Sturdier construction than expected -Quick to put together Cons: -Toothed bracket is somewhat hard to lock in the first time. Could cause damage to front of the buckle if you push too hard against a surface. -Waist measurements seemed a little too small to me, but maybe I'm just fatter than I knew!

A Great Gift for Any Man!

This was a gift for a dear friend who mentioned he needed a new belt. Since I have purchased them in the past for Christmas gifts, I was certain that he would like itl He loved it and the belt buckle chosen was just perfect for him. When in doubt for a gift, this is a perfect choice. It is so adjustable and with the weight challenges many have faced with the covid thing - and others - it is ideal. The choices of colors and buckles make it more personal too. Needless to say, I will be purchasing more belts in the future as long as the quality remains as it is today.

Like these Belts

I had a black ratchet belt and wanted a brown one. This one fits the bill. I love the packaging it came in and like the aesthetic of it. If you're looking for a good ratchet belt, seems like there's a lot of good companies out there. This belt here is a good one. If you like a style, I'd say buy it. Like I did for this one. ALSO. Make sure to measure it and cut it like the directions say. I made the mistake of cutting my belt to the size of my other belt, and they have two different designs. Fortunately for me it still fits but is not exactly how it could be if I followed the directions. Follow the directions and you'll be okay.

A well-built item sold for a fair price.

The company has a range of styles and colors of belt/buckle combinations to choose from (They actually sell a bunch of men’s and women’s accessories and gifts, but I’m only reviewing the belt I bought). For the money, it seemed like a reasonable purchase, but I was unsure about the ratchet mechanism for the belt. This item arrived quickly after I ordered it and I had no issues at all with the shipping or delivery. The packaging of this item promised high quality. The company could easily have just wrapped the belt up in a rubber band or a cheap twisty tie, thrown the buckle in a plastic bag then dumped the whole thing in a nondescript box filled with packing peanuts and sent it on its way. Instead, the packaging was, well, kind of elegant. The cardboard box was decorated inside and out with a tasteful nautical theme. The belt, buckle, and even the bonus key chain were all secured in hard, smooth styrofoam organizer fittings inside the box that kept them secure in transit but also gave a presentation that was simple but also made me feel like I had been given a to-go box from the haberdashery in the Kingsman movie. I’m kind of old-fashioned and I like a company that goes the extra mile for things like this. To me, it speaks to the company’s commitment to excellence, not just for the product, but for every aspect of the consumer experience. So, from ordering to opening, high marks all around. Delving inside the box I was impressed with the quality of the items. The buckle was made from sturdy metal and the pattern on the face of it demonstrated quality craftsmanship. The belt itself was real leather too with subdued but hearty stitching around the edges and also anchoring the belt’s half of the LiNXX™ ratcheting mechanism. Both looked just as good as the pictures online. The buckle and belt need to be assembled before being worn, so it could be adjusted to the waist size of the wearer. The company tries to make this process as painless as possible by putting size reference markers on the inside of the belt, clearly showing where someone should cut (The belt I bought had markers from 30 inches up to 44 inches). I had to get a heavy duty set of cutting shears for this job because, as I said, this material is tough. That being said, I appreciated that the belt did not flake or crumble during the cutting process, which would indicate a poor material. Some other belts I’ve purchased in the past that also said they were made with “genuine leather” were poorly made leather/plastic hybrids that just cracked and peel from normal use after as little as a few weeks. This material stood up to being cut directly into it and either side of the cut looked just as out of the box perfect as before I cut it. All that being said, it made the next step a little tricky. Once the belt had been cut to the appropriate length, it had to be inserted into the buckle and attached via a spiked pedal that had to be pressed firmly to push the spikes into the leather of the belt. The pedal has to become flush with the rear side of the buckle in order for the spikes to completely penetrate the leather, for the belt to be worn comfortably, and so the belt will be completely secured to the buckle. Like most men, I fall squarely between the extremes of “manly man” and “wimp”, and pushing the pedal’s spikes through the leather belt is hard to do, especially without scratching up the front part of the buckle. I found it helpful to wear some workman’s gloves to add some extra purchasing leverage for my hands. Once I got the spikes fully seated, I was convinced the belt wouldn’t fall apart while holding up my pants. The LiNXX™ mechanism for the buckle that ratchets the desired tightness of the belt onto the wearer seems to work as promised. Inside the belt, there is a plastic strip sewn into the leather that’s approximately 6 inches long and 1/3 of an inch wide. The strip has a series of wedges on it that friction lock against a clip on the buckle which creates the ratcheting mechanism that enables the belt to not need holes in it. Upon first trying it, I was a little apprehensive. I have a concealed weapon permit and sometimes I carry a firearm with me. I was concerned that LiNXX™ wouldn’t be robust enough to support the weight of a firearm, but it locks in very securely and I have no issues carrying the extra weight on my hip. My only concern so far is that the buckler can be a little sensitive to unlocking. So far, I have had two occasions where I was adjusting the waistband of my pants and the mechanism unlocked, loosening my waistband for a moment. It locked into place on the next notch and my pants were never at risk of falling down, it was just surprising. This has only happened when I was adjusting my waistband near the buckle, and never when just casually moving around or bumping into things. So, it seems that as long as I only put my hand on the buckle when I intend to loosen my pants, there isn’t an issue. This isn’t necessarily a knock against the belt, it just makes me concerned about long term wear on this mechanism. I’ve got an old school belt, the kind with holes notched into it, that I’ve had for almost 20 years now and it still works great. The only reason why I needed to replace it was that the buckle has become (out)dated, or so it has been explained to me. I just wonder if the mechanism on the Mio Marino belt will endure as well as my former belt. After I’ve worn the belt for a while, I’ll provide an updated review in regard to its endurance. The belt also came with a leather key chain set that appears to be made with the same high-quality materials and workmanship as the belt and buckle. It’s essentially a 2-inch leather strap with 3 small snap clip hooks on one end for keys and a larger snap clip hook on the other to attach to a belt loop. While I didn’t need this item, it was a nice bonus and I can include reviews of this item later if anything noteworthy is observed. I can’t speak directly to the company’s customer service yet. They reached out to me by email to see if I had any questions, problems, suggestions, or concerns with my purchase and encouraged me to write a review for the product. It seemed like a form letter but it’s still encouraging to see a business actively seeking feedback. Overall, the product seems to be a well-built item sold for a fair price by a company that takes itself and its prospective customers seriously. Before, I was skeptical but curious. But since I had such a positive buying experience, now I think I’ll be going back for another belt in a different color.

Subtle High quality and exhodes elegance and excellent taste

* * At first glance, the design elegance bespeaks poetry of understatements and subtlety. Upon handling, an ethereal sense of high quality material overwhelms your thoughts. Then comes the width, a definite individual character of distinction from the competing herds. It is 30mm wide, and not 35mm. This is probably the source of its elegant understatement. Worn on an Italian Super Worsted Gabardine, or super 160 Italian Marino, this belt will speak volumes of highly developed sense of elegance. It will translate a European statement of high fashion into a simple American lexicon of cool, confidence and trendiness. So much so, will it take your sense of what mens fashionable accessories should be like, that you won't hesitate to gubble up all the different colors and textures for a complete wardrobe of leather accessories. Mind you, while this is definitely a real man's belt, I sometimes find one or two of mine in my girlfriend's closet. She likes the boyish look on her, wearing them on a pair of girly Italian slacks. ,,,,,, I don't mind, I just wish she would ask me to buy her a couple and leave mine alone. They reek of feminine perfume when she wears them. * *

Superior Product

This particular belt is not just a strip of leather. It's got sewn seams and is quite flexible. There are gradations that make it easy to cut to size (check for fit first!) The buckle fastens to the belt very tightly. The set is exactly as pictured. The buckle grasps the belt solidly when you put it on and quickly releases it when you lift the edge of the buckle. No little button to push one way or another. Haven't needed to contact the seller, but other reviews seem to indicate they are customer and service oriented to a degree few other companies meet. Would absolutely recommend this to other prospective buyers.
