This is an update to my review below. I am bringing my review from 3 stars to 5 wishing there were ten. This company is outstanding when it comes to customer service. They called me based on my review and wanted me to be a satisfied customer. They sent me a replacement and then called several times to make sure I got it, and wanted to be sure I was happy. When does this happen in todays time? The problem I had with the belt was that there was so much overhang with the belt when it was cut, then if it were cut to the right size it would no longer ratchet. I want to let everyone know that this issue has been resolved! I have a 33 waist and I could cut this thing down another 3 to 4 inches and it would still work properly. Here is a suggestion. Before cutting the belt, put it around your waist to see how much extra belt (overhang) will continue after it would fit comfortably, then cut it. I am a 33, but I am pleased with the way the belt is cut at 36 (Sizes clearly marked on the belt). If you want a great product this is the company to purchase from. If you want peace of mind in a company that truly stands behind their product, then purchase any product with their name on it. I am now a forever customer and will shop nowhere else for a belt! Previous Review: So another reviewer posted that the belt was too long on the other end of the buckle so he had to cut it, but after he cut the belt he then had trouble with the ratcheting part. Other reviewers kind of passed it off as if he did something wrong. Well the description says it is custom up to 44" waist. Well, if you are a 33" like me, then the rest of that belt wraps around you. if you cut it down you only have one or two clicks. That means if you happen to eat more that day, have thicker clothes on or gain weight in the future, then you are stuck. It is a beautiful belt, but I have had times where I cannot wear it.

There are quite a few ratchet belt candidates out there, but I decided to try my first Marino back in July 2016 after some poor results from a ratchet belt from another manufacturer. Each Marino belt comes in a very elegant box, which is perfect for gifting. I am selfish and bought them solely for myself. Since I am unwilling to share my belts, I will share my humble opinion instead The review I am writing today is for my third Marino purchase, bought in October 2018. That in itself should be an indication of my opinion of this product. Each belt I have purchased has been a different style (in both belt and buckle) and each continues to serve me well. I use these belts with everything: shorts, jeans, khakis, and dress pants. In particular, it’s very important for me to maximize comfort during formal events because, typically, most of my attire is built for appearance rather than comfort. Having a comfortable belt during these uncomfortable situations is a must. The Marino fits that requirement precisely. The belt buckle, once secured properly, stays in place and does not become loose, but is not difficult to remove if you need to trim down the belt or switch out the buckle itself. Having the belt buckle come loose during your day-to-day is the last thing you want. I have experienced this with other ratchet belts and it is infuriating, especially when the buckle falls off during an inconvenient time, such as while in a public restroom… into the urinal. But let us not dwell on the horrors of the past and, instead, look to the future. Marinos are the go-to for ratchet belts because they're durable, they look fantastic, and they have an excellent price especially given their exceptional quality. So why a ratchet belt over a traditional belt? In general, a ratchet belt allows for the perfect fit with the ability to make smaller incremental adjustments. This is very helpful if want to quickly and easily adjust your comfort level during the day, if you’re focusing on weight loss, or need to adjust the belt after eating 5 lbs of bacon and cheese during a very dark period in your life. I also find that a ratchet belt has a much smoother on/off process and less degradation in the leather itself as a result of the tightening/loosening process. I highly recommend a ratchet belt and, to fulfill that need, I highly recommend the Marino.

I've had it about 5 minutes and I already love it. Im so glad I looked for belts on Amazon before spending 2-3x as much at a department store. Took 10 seconds to trim it to length/lock the cut end into the buckle (the cut is completely concealed so there's no worry about an exposed part) and I was ready to go. Extremely easy to size correctly and very easy to put on / remove (this is my first ratchet style belt - I've always used traditional hole styles). If this lasts anywhere near what my other belts have, I'll keep buying these from now on.

I've only had this belt for about a month, but so far it's about what I expected. It looks well made and classy. I currently own two Ratchet Dress Belts. These belts seem to be made pretty well and the buckle has not sustained any scratches so far. I like the ratchet belt because you don't need to pull the belt tight because when you pull the belt snug it locks into place. It's a known fact that whenever you wear a belt, you never want to pull the belt so tight that it squeezes your stomach because it can cause all kinds of stomach issues. The first belt I purchased lasted about a year and then the belt which was supposed to be leather cracked in half. The seller says this belt is leather except for the ratchet which is plastic so I will update several months from now after I have worn the belt many times.

Works quite well when you're losing weight. You can click the belt closed more or cut it shorter. The back side of the belt shows measurements for cutting. I recommend not cutting too short until you're confident in how long you want it. It's great you don't have to keep punching holes in a standard belt and have the previous ugly holes and belt showing on your waist as excess belt. People are giving it low reviews because they can't undo the belt. I'll try to explain this so you can understand: the latch that clicks as you tighten the belt gets stuck when you try to slide the belt out of the buckle when removing the belt. It gets stuck where the hard plastic track on the backside meets the tip of the belt (the plastic track doesn't run the entire length of the belt). I have to push the leather right next to the last clicking point down with my thumb or finger so the latch doesn't get caught on that transition point. It would be nice for them to engineer a solution so the latch doesn't get stuck while removing the belt, but oh well. I recommend this belt and I really like all the various options to choose from.

I like ratchet belts. Easy to adjust the belt size cutting to the right length. The ratchets are in smaller increments making a comfortable fit and the belt looks good without any holes that get stretched out. I've tried the more expensive brand and the Marino is just as good. I like that their belt buckle has the lift up release instead of the little button on other brands. The buckles with the release button have a tendency to release when you don't want it to. The buckles like the Marino with the buckle top lift stay put until you want it to open.

This is my second Marino belt. I bought the first one a month or two ago and liked it even though dealing with the quirky release button is a pain sometimes. I recently went to look for second belt in a different color and I noticed that they had a new release method, the Linxx buckle. It seemed better and had some good reviews so I thought I'd try it. I was actually going to try a competitors belt with the better release button but when I saw Marino had changed their release mechanism I thought I'd give Marino another try. First of all it's cheaper pricewise, they have a better selection, they obviously care what their customers think, and I really like the key chain included with it. And I'm glad I gave the Marino another try. The most important thing obviously was how much better and easier the Linxx buckle is. It makes a big difference and now works so smoothly. Time will tell regarding quality but so far it works like a winner. When I decide to get a third belt there won't be a need to consider the competitors. I also hope they continue including the key chain. At this point there is nothing on the belt that I would want to see changed. Love the variety of buckles.

Love this thing. I wasn't sure what to expect, since this was "off brand" from what I've seen advertised on TV. But there were mixed reviews on the "as seen on TV" belts, and there were complaints about the quality of the leather and ratchet system. This product was pretty consistent in its ratings. I'm here to confirm it's true. This is a quality product. The material is both supple and firm, offering a level of comfort while still feeling sturdy and well-built. It comes with the belt unattached to the buckle, as you're asked to trim the belt to fit your waist size first. Doing so revealed a quality construction from the cut pieces, with no cheap glue like you'd expect of a low-quality product. After sizing, I've had zero issues with the belt, I enjoy its appearance, and the ratchet system has thus far worked flawlessly. I'm going to give it a few more weeks, and if my enjoyment of it holds, I'll be ordering another in brown to replace a $150 namebrand belt.

I recently purchased this belt to match some new shoes I purchased. My piece of feedback is make sure you measure it around your waist before cutting. I noticed that while I'm a 33" waist size, I felt it comfortable to cut at the 36" spot so I have space to pull it through. If you cut it what you think your waist size really is, it might come up short. I really like this design the release switch is the front of the belt which is much more simple than having a little switch that can be activated when sitting. I really like how I get a tight fit every time. I am a bit concerned that the teeth on the back of it won't last but I'll write back if they break. I would recommend grabbing one of these belts tho! Much better than having the 1 hole belts especially if your weight fluctuates.

For years I have worn a braided belt. I hate having to search for a bolt hole, and the holes never seem to be in the right place. Belts are always either just a little to tight or a little too loose. The problem with the braided belts is that they wear out quickly. The thin leather braid just does not last long. I saw an ad for slide belts somewhere on the internet and came to Amazon to check it out. I bought this one, and another, more expensive belt to compare ( SlideBelt - Winged Black (Mocha Leather with Winged Black Buckle) ). Overall, I think that this belt is nearly as good as than the other one. The leather of this belt itself feels slightly thinner. The buckles themselves are identical in how they work. This belt has more space between the end of the ratchet strip and the end of the belt. In jeans, I do not notice a difference between the two, because the belt loops line up differently than my work pants. In work pants, sometimes it feels like there is too much of this belt left hanging. I suppose I could just cut it a little shorter and re-attach it to the buckle. I reviewed the other belt and gave it 4 stars. Why the five stars for this belt? Simply because of price. For me, I don't think the differences are that great. Certainly not worth nearly double the cost of the other belt ($45 vs. $25). We'll see how they hold up over time. If one belt lasts longer than the other, I will come back and update the reviews accordingly.
