Good set of true wireless earbuds - sound volume might be to small for some

UPDATE: 3/8 iPhone 7 experience My Android phone died a couple of months ago and so I've been using these exclusively on my iPhone. They seem more consistent signal wise than my Idol 4s and basic controls work. I've noticed that video and audio won't stop when I pull both out of my ears sometimes...maybe 30% of the time they fail to notice. YouTube video is good 75% of the time with latency affecting some videos for extended periods of time. Battery indicator on iOS is a major win. Why doesn't Android do this? I don't know if they show an indicator on the Galaxy lines, but I don't think I'm going to go Samsung for my Android needs. Volume is not separate in iOS so you can't crank these up as loud as Android (or W10M...IKR?) Phone calls are handled in stereo which is great. Some latency has occurred but not terrible. Misc comments: Fit has been perfect for my left ear, but I can't get consistent fit for my right. The medium wing is just a tad too short and the large wing is way too big. I have not taken these out for a run, but plan to when the weather gets warmer. Battery life is good and I am getting annoyed about the charging case only hold 1 additional charge. I don't know why but I just feel like it could have been better. One last thing about the case, I wish I didn't have to insert a little piece of paper into the ear tip well to make these charge. I found this to be the only way to have worry free battery charge connection without seeing blinking red lights. Overall I still like these TWBs. +1 star for consistent performance - DISCLAIMER I would not pay full price, find a refurb or Amazon warehouse deal. --------------------------------- I've had these true wireless earbuds for a little over a month and so far they've been ok. Design is compact and clean. Touch interface takes some getting used to, but it's not a huge learning curve. Battery life is as advertised in my usage mostly for work. Connectivity is great depending on the source. Alcatel Idol 4s is my daily driver and it does not perform as well as my secondary phone iPhone 7. Not sure why, but I can describe it as some cut out between the buds. I need to run more tests. What I like: + Fit - it does take a bit to get the right fit, but once you do, they simply work. Comfort isn't bad for me. Some reviewers talk about some discomfort after 1 hour of wear. I have not experienced that, but every ear is different. + Battery life - rated at 5 hours for streaming and 7 hours using the onboard player, I found that they hit that level of battery performance. I've only run it down fully one day where I didn't place them in my case when not in use. + Onboard storage - this is a nice to have. I like being able to leave the phone behind and it works pretty nice. disconnect from phone and just tap the button to start your playlist of songs. Connect back to your device and your back to the usual use. If you have a galaxy device, there are more options to add music from phone to earbud pretty easily. If not, you'll need to have a Mac or PC to add multiple tracks. Bluetooth transfer is slow and can only be done single songs only. Still a nice problem to have though. + Touch controls - each earbud has touch controls and with different taps and long presses, you can activate an assistant, turn on ambient sound, start a workout and control music/video (sometime). Using the gear app and plugin (which is optional) you can decide what the menu is after a long press of either touchpad. +Ambient sound - I've used this more often than I thought. Basically opens the mics on both earbuds to let sound pass through during music playback. Works ok, but if your music is cranked up, It's not that useful. I use it when working from home or office with anticipation of some form of interruption. +Call quality - very good. In a normal office environment you can hear calls very nice. People on the other end have told me I sounded normal and not robotic. AND unlike some of the cheaper TWE, calls come in on both earbuds. What I also like about using these for calls is that it does have a mute feature by simply holding on the touchpad for a second. Takes a little bit to get to that option, but easier than having to keep the phone on you. What I didn't like - - Battery case - it's not as magical as the Airpods. You have to have them placed just right or the contacts won't connect because there isn't a magnet that pulls to ensure the contacts are connected. I've had to place a little piece of paper inside the case (ear tip channel) to make sure they balance out. This is probably due to the size of ear tips/hooks that you use, but really should not be a problem at this price point. - Gear App - it does just the bare minimum IMHO. Again if you pay full price, you'd expect it to be a little more helpful - no on/off switch - if you don't have the case, you can't technically turn them off. If they do shut off because of not being used (which hasn't happened to me yet) it states in the manual that you'll need to place them into the case (close and open) to activate them. With the touch controls, they could have added a gesture for low power mode or some kind of sleep mode. This isn't a deal breaker, but come on. Would it kill the battery or change the design if you had some feature like that? Guess that is me being nit picky because you really shouldn't be leaving the buds out on their own to get lost. - Sound - I'd say they are more balanced than a 'fitness' focused product, but what really hurts these is the loudness. Volume using Android is separate from the main source. Not sure about iOS but will check. Anyway, there isn't much volume and requires you to crank up the phone. Now if these were more bass focused like most fitness focused earbuds, you probably wouldn't notice that much, but like some reviewers have said, the sound isn't that loud unless you get close to max on the earbuds and then crank your phone up to 50% (for me) or so (prob different on different phones). If your phone has an EQ that works across BT, these will sound better. For me, my Idol 4s does a pretty good job with different sound profiles. Overall, I love these. If it wasn't for the case being so tricky and the sound being low, I'd give these a 4 star review. These are a solid option for fitness folks who don't want to carry a phone around. There is fitness tracking onboard which I didn't cover because I don't use it (I'm a Fitbit guy), but nice to have the option. I would probably be very disappointed in these if I had to pay full price, so if you are in the market for new earbuds, give these a shot because of battery life alone. Or you could wait until the crop of new Qualcomm chip enabled devices comes out with their touted battery life improvements...but hey, who wants to wait?

Great earpods for Samsung phone

Hi all I decided to write a review after a few months of purchasing this item. I bought then back in July because I was tired of my Skullcandy not working. These earpods are great, Yes they can be bit sensitive when tapping to skip or replay a song. Tap twice to skip and 3 times to go to previous track. The quality is good the music is clear, I do dynamic and ambient sound. I don't use these for running or jogging, just walking, watching Netflix, Amazon and movies. Lastly I've read that after a while the quality of the sound is lower than the other pod. I had this issue too, I attached a photo it comes with a brush and you can take out the ear tip then remove the mesh and put a new one and it should work fine, good as new. As for battery I charge them every 2 days and use them for 9 - 10 hours a day.

Woulda' Been 5 Stars if not for...

I would give them: * Sound Quality: 5 Stars * Battery Life: 5 Stars * Recharging Speed: 5 Stars * Comfort: 5 Stars (you just have to get used to them for about a week if they start out uncomfortable) * Samsung Health Connectivity: 5 Stars * Touch Controls: 5 Stars So now you may be wondering why I didn't give them 5 stars all around. Well sadly, there has been an issue with them. If you Google "Gear IconX one not working" you'll find many results. Videos, blogs, and more about how people have loved the IconXs, until suddenly one of the two earbuds goes quiet, almost silent. This is excessively annoying. This happened to me. It's not a software thing. Rather, I had to remove both the mesh filter and the white "filter" behind it, inside the sound port, and carefully replace them. Somehow, something got out of whack. Samsung claims it's likely earwax building up inside. Some people have fixed the issue by blowing into the soundport with the filters removed. Either way, I would give everything but this 5 stars. If the issue persists or gets worse, I will update later.

Galaxy note 8 user experience.

I have gotten these buds for work because my wired headphones are completely annoying. But I will give these 4 stars. Let me explain why: Sound: these are fantastic. Not a lot of bass, but clear sounds nonetheless. Could had been better. 4 stars. Note: changing the sound quality with the equalizer settings has fixed the sound quality. Recommend it if you know how to use it. Connection: 5 stars. No complains. Calling: Same as using your phone to call. They don't give any problems. 5 stars. Ambient sound: Sounds as if you were going through a water fall. You can hear, no doubt. But, you'll hear things louder than usual and yes, they sound weird when you talk. 3.5 stars. Battery: Fixed from the 2016 issue with a shut down button. So far, you can keep your charges for a week or more (by using the shut down button). They do allow 5 hours of power (tested). 5 stars Single piece: You have to go into settings and change your sound option to mono if you're using one. You can still use some features (functions) with just one of them. They're both touch sensitive. 5 stars. Sensitivity: you will get used to them. However, if moving or placing them on, they do activate rather quickly. They're not bad, unless you're that person who sweats and needs to dry up. 4 stars Feel: they are comfortable after you switch the wing tips to the right size. They're very small in actual size. After a while you'll actually forget you're using them. But I want to address something. The small plastic on the top where the wing tips are is very uncomfortable. It will irritate your ears. My recommendation is to move the buds clock wise and counter clock wise until you can't feel it anymore. However, after a while, you'll feel it again. 3.5 stars. Find my gear: These are not GPS enabled. However, they give out a sound that you can hear (not loud). They'll beep for 3 minutes and then stop. They need to put more effort into this feature. This is the main thing that these buds will need. They're not loud enough to hear if it's under your couch.. 2 stars. Overall: the performance on these buds are amazing once you get used to it. You do have to mess with it for a while. Extra info: these buds will have another issue (all earphones has this problem). Your earwax and sweat will cause the gears to sound lower than normal. I recommend cleaning the grill that covers the speakers if that happens. Also, the battery does slowly drain from the case. So you will need to shut them off using the shut down button on the top where the wing tips are. It's behind the plastic point. Hold it for 7 seconds with a paper clip or a needle to shut them off. Final edit: if you're reading other reviewers about the low sound problem, please read where your earwax will cause this issue. Clean the grill every month or 2 weeks depending on your usage. Or better yet, remove it and keep the area clean whenever you see the earwax. Final edit#2: these has been updated for better sound in ambient and now has an equilizer.

Almost perfect!

I've had a few earbuds, one other dirt cheap set of bluetooth earbuds (mpow), wireless and wired headphones and I can honestly say these are the best audio devices I have purchased after my Sonos system. Here's why: 1. Inconspicuous. In the office, I can enjoy my music without looking like I'm slacking off with cans on my head. Also nice when you go for a walk at lunch break or whenever. Couldn't do this with my Marshalls and definitely not with my Beats. 2. Sound quality. Excellent, as long as you're not delusional. At what point did you expect $150 (as of the time of my purchase) earbuds would provide ear-shattering base, amazing highs etc? Know what you're buying before you buy it people. Even when listening to music I have listened to before on better sounding equipment, the sound is better than acceptable. Not barely passable, but actually enjoyable to listen to. 3. Touch controls are very responsive. I do not understand the criticism as I do not have particularly dexterous or small fingers (6' 5" used to lift heavily at the gym), yet even I can work the controls. When they don't work, I actually know what I did wrong. No false inputs. 4. Watching videos, as has been mentioned by other reviewers, is a pleasure. No sync issues between buds, as reported by others. 5. Standard tips and wings that came with the earbuds fit in my ears. This was a surprise as I'm one of those people for whom ear pods simply fall out. 6. Solid build quality 7. Very light. They look and feel like they would be heavier but I guess either I was blessed with powerful ears or these are light. Cons: 1. Sometimes, the earbuds lose sync for about 2 seconds. Frequency would be about once every 10 uses. No big deal but when it happens it's very startling. 2. The fit can be a bit too snug if you accidentally press the earbuds in as you twist into place. Do not do this and they do not cause discomfort. 3. I do not believe I can connect to PC and phone simultaneously. After getting it connected to my laptop, it would not connect to Note 8 until I disconnected from laptop. 4. I have yet to test battery life fully but I've been listening to music via bluetooth for maybe 2 hours now and battery life is still over 75% (going off the graphic in the app). Yeah, how about an actual numerical value for battery percentage Samsung? 5. I can't get Bixby or Google Assistant to work reliably yet. I'm not sure if the earbuds are hearing me or the phone is the one responding. Other than that, this is an excellent product and I would wholeheartedly recommend for anyone.
