Poor customer service

One thing about USB dongles, you are supposed to be able to remove them. When I removed mine, only the plastic piece came out. The metal casing stayed in the port. I had to remove it with a pair of pliers. On close inspection, it looks like the glue holding the metal to the plastic failed. I opened a ticket with Razer support and they came back and said the warranty department ruled it was abuse that caused the failure. I pointed out the glue issue and the tech admitted the picture proves it was not abuse but the warranty department has final say and they say it’s abuse and nothing they could do. The worst part was the responses kept reiterating how unfortunate this was but they were so happy to be able to assist me. It was sort of insulting. Did the mouse function well? Yes it was decent. It wasn’t the best mouse I’ve ever used. I’m definitely never buying another Razer product. If I want really bad customer service, I might as well buy a knock off gaming mouse for $15 and just replace it when it fails.

Disappointing, even before it stopped working

I would have only given this mouse a three star review even if it still worked. Mouse button 4 went out after playing call of duty and civ6 for about two weeks. I understand that defects exist, but that wasn’t my only gripe. The mouse wheel click is really stiff and the scroll is as well. It is very difficult to switch weapons without cycling twice. The standard razor viper is a much more comfortable mouse. Even if this mouse still worked, I would have likely returned it. I can’t recommend buying this product.

Don’t believe the hype. Not worth the money.

Was really excited to upgrade to a new wireless mouse but was severely disappointed. The right mouse button is so terrible I thought it was defective so I ordered a replacement...nope same thing. It’s cheap plastic that moves and gets stuck with every right click. Incredibly annoying. Was a fan of Razer products in the past but have moved on from their mice and keyboards. Will be looking into a g pro wireless instead

GREAT FOR SMALL HANDS( mushy click?)

I have small hands and its amazing light weight mouse that responds. my only issue is why this viper mini doesnt have the latest sensor that is in the viper ultimate or else it be really amazing Update : after like a month of use the buttons on the mini the rmb and lmb became mushy like the clicks weren’t as crisp. I have ordered one mini before and this issue arose. So I ordered a second one and the same issue arose after playing with it . I don’t click intensively or anything but the clicks are awful it’s like they move and become mushy.

Great for a month, does not work anymore

Love how lightweight and comfortable this mouse is. I wanted something lighter and it feels just right. Not as slick-looking or as customizable as my basilisk, but not really a problem since most of it is not used (other than scroll wheel movement and clicks). However, I get severe frame rate drops on 8000 poll rate. I see single digits while running and turning sharply, dropping hundreds of frames per second. I use 2000 which I lose only around 20, which is not bad. Also, the cord could be longer. Update: This mouse was starting to have connection issues after a few weeks. I had changed USB ports, hoping it would get fixed. It worked for a little while, but now it is completely useless. I have another Razer mouse which works just fine in every USB port, but the Viper no longer connects and stays connected. It starts by disconnecting when the mouse has lifted even the slightest distance off the mouse pad. Now it just does not connect at all. Maybe I just got a bad one, but this was an expensive mouse and I really liked it when it did work. I got this in February and it is now the beginning of May and does not work anymore. This mouse does not work in any USB port anymore. Uninstalling and reinstalling all driver software does not work. No troubleshooting steps work.

Rough glide

I should have listened to the critical reviews. They had turned me off on trying this mouse but it went on sale for half off and ended up buying anyway. Mouse glide is really rough/scratchy due to plastic ring surrounding the sensor. Also makes the glide quite audible which is a little annoying. Haven't even plugged it in but probably returning as this makes the mouse either frustrating or virtually unusable depending on which mouse pad is being used. Sure if for some reason you really really love everything else about this mouse you could potentially sand down the middle ring and/or order 3rd party replacement feet. But neither are acceptable solutions for most of us.

bad mouse do not buy- lots of random problems

ok so obviously this was the first 8000hz mouse released. It looked promising especially with the optical click sensor... but its just not there yet. here are some problems: 1. some games don't work with 4000/8000hz ... they will stutter/be unplayable because the engines dont support this yet (this isn't a flaw of the mouse but keep it in mind) 2. The drivers are totally f***d and need to be reworked... i've tried this mouse on 3 seperate computers (different parts) just to make sure. There are all kinds of random problems like lag being introduced... games not being as smooth.. polling rate not switching etc here is the solution: 1. don't buy this mouse.. just trust me on this. 2. if you want 8000hz and the "fastest" mouse available buy the corsair sabre RGB pro - (lookup nvidia reflex latency spreadsheet if you want to verify it) It has everything this mouse was supposed to have.. it works flawlessly... and it doesn't cause any problems. Ironically its also cheaper. p.s you're welcome

Top performing wireless mouse on market with FLAWS

Have been using the Logitech Pro for months and needed a second mouse. Read the reviews here along with Wirecutter and seemed like many people said the logitech is just as good so I was hesitant... but glad I got the Viper. Before going wireless my favorite mouse was the Razer Deathadder. I'm usually wary of these gamer brands like hyperx, etc but I've realized that Razer mice are just objectively good. TLDR: The Viper feels more accurate than the logitech pro BUT it has much lower battery life and has freezing issue. --Pros/Cons compared to my logitech-- Pros: Scroll wheel feels VERY durable. The logitech scroll is fine but it's more smooth... and for mouse scrolling I dont like it when it scrolls TOO easily... the Viper scroll wheel resistance feels perfect for me. Clicking just feels better than the logitech... feels like a higher class of clicking not sure how to describe it, also feels durable and gives me comfort More ergonomic for sure than the logitech. Conforms to the hand more and the side grips are always nice. The logitech form is more generic and very plain. The shape is fine... but for long and hard use the Viper's grip and shape is better suited. Cons: Battery life is MUCH shorter than logitech. You can disable RGB to increase battery life but then you have to install their software... It is laughable how much worse the battery life on this is compared to the logitech g pro... I REPEAT, THE BATTERY LIFE ON THE VIPER IS HORRIBLE. They push their Synapse software too hard. I dont want Razer tracking and selling my data. Side buttons are not removable. (I find that I accidentally click the right wall buttons often. These are removable on the Logitech. Also, if I can disable the buttons then I am forced to do so via their Synapse software.) If it was just a basic program for the mouse settings I'd be ok but this program requires an internet connection so that Razer can constantly monitor data. Have been having freezing issues. Dont know what triggers it but once in a while the mouse will freeze for around 15 seconds... major flaw i havent experienced in any other mouse. Update: 1 year+ later and it still has freezing issue with horrible battery life.

Waste of money -- Scroll wheel problem, terrible annoying software

Don't bother. 2 months into owning this mouse, the scroll wheel started to jump around. You'd scroll down, the page would jump up, then down, then maybe up again before going lower than you wanted. The issue is very common among Razor mice as for some reason dust likes to get into the scroll wheel sensor. And there's nothing you can do to fix this; you can try to blow out the dust, which works for a few hours, but it always returns. Then the software is THE MOST ANNOYING THING. First, the software is bloated, BUT IT'S REQUIRED. Second, it comes loaded on the mouse, so if you set the settings and uninstall the software, it pops up for you to download it if you restart your computer. I DON'T WANT IT. Logitech isn't much better with their double-click switch, but at least you can fix the switches, and their software can be uninstalled and doesn't pop up again. The mouse is otherwise good. Good, basic shape. Good clicks. Light and glides well. But major faults that can't be fixed and are just annoying in everyday use.

Best Worst Mouse Ever

This is the best mouse I have ever used. Hands down. That having been said, I cannot stand it, and had to return it. Why? A known issue with this mouse. I happened to see some reviews mentioning "long pre-click" issues. People saying that just laying your fingers on M1 and M2 (the clicks) felt a little like a "half click". And that over time it got worse. And that Razer support acknowledges the issue. I thought to myself "Oh, these people are probably making things up. There's no way that's the case. This is one of the best mice on the market!". Well, i'm glad I knew to look out for that. I had the same issue, M1 feeling absolutely terrible within around 8 days of usage. A growing amount of "pre-click" that felt as I browsed the web, as if I was clicking any time I put my hand on the mouse. I WASN'T, but it FELT that way. I figured I could maybe ignore it, I LOVED this mouse! I came from a Deathadder Elite, and this mouse was superior in every way. I thought being wireless wouldn't make me enjoy it anymore, but I was wrong. Loved the wireless tech, never had any problems. I thought the sensor being better wouldn't make me enjoy it anymore, but I was wrong. Best sensor on the market, fantastic! The ergonomics were a HUGE improvement over the Deathadder. I have average sized hands, and this was the best feeling mouse i'd ever felt. That having been said, despite all the great things about this mouse, I couldn't ignore the growing pre-click issue. As I tried, it just kept getting worse and worse, until finally I caved and returned it. I had even bought a Wired Viper (non-ultimate) to see if it had the same issue...oh yeah. Same damn thing. TL;DR: Excellent mouse with one known flaw that absolutely destroys it in my eyes. And probably yours too. Don't underestimate how poor that these clicks will feel. Wired and Ultimate both have the issue. If the mouse were to not have this issue, however: 5 star mouse. Easy.
