This clips on to the dashboard of my freightliner truck. I usually use it to watch movies while I'm driving through traffic.

I originally loved this because it was the first phone mount that actually worked in my car that didn’t constantly drop it or prevent me from using my AC. The first one broke after about 8 months - two small pieces popped off but I’m not sure from where so I couldn’t fix it and they must’ve been what helped clamp it in place. The second one last 3 weeks - the no slip pad melted. The weather has been average if not colder than usual so very disappointed that it melted, especially so soon after buying a replacement. I am buying it a third time just because it has been great before breaking and melting and the shape/material of my dash has prevented any others from working so hopefully this one lasts

Not enough depth on latching mechanism to stay on my dash

I needed to get a new mount when I upgraded my phone. I drive a 2013 Honda CRV and specifically wanted a mount that was1) low profile2) not suction cup mounted, a cup holder insert, or a vent mountI didn't have issues with it until the recent heatwave that hit Ohio in late august. The thin rubber-esque bottom that provides "grip" melted to my console. To be fair, we don't often hit mid to high 90s (F) but I've never had the issue with other mounts with similar materials and makes. I was able to remove the mount without damaging my console but the grip is bubbled in some place and I'm going to see if it damages the integrity at all.Otherwise I am happy with the mount. Just want others, especially if you are in frequently hot areas, to be aware.

Purchased about 6 months ago for a Ford Focus to clamp onto dashboard. It took a while to find a holder that would work in that car. It fits great! It has/had excellent grip on dashboard. It holds the phone tightly and nicely out of the way of the backup camera screen. However, a couple of weeks ago, it fell off and no longer will grab that dashboard. It turns out the clamping surface melted - see pic. I realize it is as low-cost item and perhaps 6 months of use is reasonable - but it shouldn't melt.

I could not get it to fit anywhere on the dash of my 4Runner.

I liked the fact that I could position the holder where the phone screen would be close to eye level so that I wouldn't need to glance down to view the map. With my previous holder, it would take me too long to re-focus on the phone when I took my eyes off the road. There are a few things that I do not like with the holder. The piece that connects the holder to the dash is a little loose, which would cause the phone screen to vibrate. I fixed that by applying some glue. I need two hands to operate the slide that holds the phone, which then requires that I re-adjust the angle of the phone. Also, after a couple of weeks on the dash the silicone pad melted. I wanted to relocate the holder a couple of inches and had to use a plastic putty knife to gently pry it off. I'm glad I didn't damage the top of the dashboard.
