Bought it for a flight to Europe to use on a tray table

This is so versatile and usable in many situations where you just need a comfortable angle to view your phone hands-free. I also use it to hold my phone at my desk. I've had the older model of this clamp for about 2 years now. This is a neck-saver on long flights. On just about all the flights I've been on, my seat-mates were so interested in this little clamp that after they tried it out on their phones, I showed them the link on Amazon (thanks to in-flight wifi), and they ordered ones for themselves. Works as a handle/gimbal-thingy so you can hold your phone for camera functions pretty comfortably too. The housing is made of plastic, but the clamp is made of metal with rubber pads to grip the surface. Spring tension strength is better than I would have thought and overall, feels very durable. The plastic teeth on the "gears" used to rotate the holder may wear down over time, so I am always careful about manipulating that part of it. One word of caution: Using this clamp while the seat-back tray table is up and locked is fine. Be careful clamping this to the back of the tray table while you are using the table (in the lowered position). If the person in front of you reclines their seat, it may strike your device and cause damage. I had my device clamped on the side of the tray table when the person in front of me reclined and it looked as if it would have either busted my clamp or damaged my phone.

Worked well to watch movies with in the flight. Compact and easily fit into my bag. Giving some as gifts to friends.

We even had the stewardess commenting how cool she thought this was and asked where we got it. No more holding your phone to watch movies in flight. And you can attach it easily to the seat back in front of you.
