Disconnection / Audio Popping and Dropping in Xbox Party Chat

I enjoyed these headphones, the sound quality and the ability to simply sync like a controller were really nice features. However, even after applying the available patches on the website I continuously would have issues with them dropping while in Xbox Party chat. If I was playing a single player game, not in party there was no issues what so ever but as soon as I entered game chat the drops would begin. It was noticeable to everyone else in the party as well. I don't think it was an issue of being too far away or signal interference in my case, it seems more like I received a defective unit or they are still working out kinks with the firmware. I was able to return these, and I did contact LS support and they were helpful. I am going to give these three starts, maybe they will work better for you but above is the issues I ran into to. Hopefully the helps other potential buyers.

Sounds good, mic won't work

This headset sounds great, is comfortable and connected in seconds. The range of connection is pretty limited compared to my old turtle beach ones, but isn't bad. My main complaint is that the mic doesn't work. I can hear myself through it, but no one else can hear me. I've tried all the troubleshooting from lucidsound, but it seems I'm alone on this issue. I hope they contact me back on a fix. But as of now, its back to the old beaches.

2 years later

...and it can't hold a charge anymore.. I used these roughly 3 hours a day, everyday. Unfortunately they cannot hold a charge now. Keep in mind, 90% of the time I had these charging while playing since where I sit is by an outlet and I have a 6' cord. Similar to how folks use their phone while it's charging. I never had the issues other older reviews with drop out. I'm just sad after 2 years exactly they won't stay on even while it's plugged in. Great headset but I can't recommend them anymore. Luckily I pre ordered the new Microsoft headset that's $99 in March 2021

They work. But the controls are very wonky

So the sound of the headset is great. Problem is the controls you use to adjust the game volume and chat volume work against each other. If you go to turn to chat volume up, it automatically lowers the game volume. If you go to turn up the game volume, it turns the chat volume down. Sometimes turning one makes the other one just turn off. Sometimes none of them work lol. For 89$ they're ok but if you have to pay more than that I would vote for turtle beachs.

Didn't even last a year

I bought these January 2019. It's now December 2019 and they are broken. I don't game a crazy amount. Maybe on average 10 hours a week, but one day when I was done gaming I was pulling the headphones off of my head and the plastic right where the headphones twist just snapped in half. I'm very disappointed with the durability of these and do not recommend them. I could spend a fraction of the price and get headphones that will last twice as long. Update 1: I contacted LucidSound, because it was still under the one year warranty and they were very prompt in responding to me and are sending a new headset to me. It took less than 24 hours for them to tell me they will send a new headset my way. I changed my rating from 1 star to 3 stars for the quick customer support. When I get the new headset and get to use it for a while I'll come back and leave another update.

Weak points prone to failure/WRONG

These headphones sound amazing, but suffer a major design flaw. I’d provide photo evidence, but plenty of other buyers already have. Take a look at the various reviews, they all say the same thing: These headphones sound amazing but they have a critical design issue. 95% of the components feature exceptional build quality, except for two plastic connectors one both the L&R sides. These connectors are weak, and prone to failure. It’s a shame, I was really excited about these headphones, but after seeing many disappointed reviews, and after my own inspection of the faulty parts, I can conclude that these headphones aren’t worth the $180 I spent. They have $200 sound quality, but the cheap plastic components meant they won’t be around long for you to enjoy how amazing they are. They do connect to an Xbox easily, and quickly, and the earcup dial audio controls are convent and functional. Hopefully Lucid Sound addresses this issue because I’d love to purchase a redesigned model with stronger construction. Edit: it is March 2023 and these headphones are still going STRONG. I love them. No sign of wear whatsoever and I use them daily.

Based on the reviews, I thought this was supposed to sound better

Granted, I'm used to playing games with a Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro headset which sounds great. But I received the LucidSound LS35X headset yesterday and, after all the reviews I'd read, was surprised at how crappy the sound quality is. Plus, there's a low, rumbly constant static in the left channel. I'm only 8 feet away from the Xbox Series X; I suppose there could be some interference happening, who knows? Life is too short to waste time trying to diagnose stuff like that which, at $150+, ought to work right out of the box.

Broken After 4 Months

I bought these to use with my Xbox One X and they were pretty good right out of the box. Paired up with the Xbox very quickly and easily. They are very very heavy and I thought they were pretty well made when I started to use them. I bought these on December 18th and the plastic piece where the ear cups pivot broke on the right side on April 12th. I was certainly hoping for more than (not quite) 4 months of use. This is not an inexpensive item, so it should be better quality than it appears to be. There is no sound adjustment other than the two separate volume controls... one for game volume and one for chat volume. These controls are large round dials, one on each of the outside of each ear cup. It's very easy to mess up your settings simply by putting on or taking off the headset. I just contacted the Lucid Sound support folks and I'm about to find out if the support is good or not. If the support is not good, I'll drop two more stars from the rating and it will be one star. For the price charged, these should last at least until the end of the warranty. UPDATE: Customer Service was courteous and easy to deal with. Shipping is via UPS Ground, so unless you live near their repair/exchange facility... it takes a looooooong time to get a replacement.

Pretty mediocre for the price

TLDR: Expectations were not met. Not worth the price. Sound drops. Does NOT work wirelessly with any device other than Xbox. Would not recommend. You would expect an almost $200 headset to blow you away, but that isn't the case. First off, I had to download a firmware update right out of the box and that is usually not a good sign. Although it performs, I often run into an issue where the audio becomes robotic and I have to turn it off and back on. My first pair also began to crack where there is plastic on the part right above the ear. Since it happened in under a year, LucidSound sent me a brand new pair via the manufacturer's warranty. Unfortunately, I still run into the same issue of the audio dropping and sounding robotic every once in a while. Also a big "gotcha" is that while they "work" on PC, they do not work wirelessly. For every device other than xbox, they will not work wirelessly, and you therefore lose most of the functionality of the headset other than mute and the volume. I feel like this headset is worth about $100, not the current price of $180.

Disconnects constantly, sound balance controls difficult...

This takes 2-3 time turning on and off to connect to Xbox. Then it will drop sound constantly during gameplay. Very short range walking away then causing reconnect issues. The voice/sound balance is difficult due to no reference point on the dial. When battery is low there is rarely a warning, it just dies. The good is quality strength hardware and comfort. Very loud and clear sound when it does work. I would not recommend these for wireless play when you need reliable sound.
