I had mine for a year. I remember that first time like yesterday. The cooling gel earpads... I mean WOW. can use these babies for hours and hours with no problem. And they saund incredible. Every time I put them on I say 'holy crap!' There are a few design quirks (the volume knobs should be a bit wider and have tactile grooves, the mute button is super easy to hit, etc.) but at least mine never had any stress cracks or bad connections. They are the reason for the 4 stars. However after a year they stopped taking a charge. And if you push on the cable for charging they turn on. I would to get mine fixed as I'm pretty sure it just requires re-soldering a contact from the USB port on the PCB, I probably just pushed it a bit too hard. But my pair is well past warranty. Update 2/21- Another year, another pair. EXACTLY the same problem. One pair is excusable but 2 is ridiculous. These are not $20 headphones that we can replace easily. At over $100 you can drop an extra $0.35 during manufacturing and secure the port proper. I had to replace these with some LS50X, that I was using on my PC. Unfortuanately they need a dongle to connect to the XBOne. They also drop connection A LOT even at a 8 foot distance with very little EMF. The 35X never did, although I see a ton of complaints about it. I hope they update the 35X to USB C and Bluetooth as well. It is the only device I have left that uses the micro-usb port. And being able to connect to my phone simultaneously would be awesome. Upgrading the 50x so as it didn't need the dongle would do the same thing, and would probably end up being cheaper to make too.

The sound quality is amazing. It has a nice, crisp surround sound. Anyone can detect where sounds are coming from which is great for FPS games. Friends even said that my voice sounded more crisp and clear with the new headset. The material was comfy, although it squeezed on my head a little much, but I'm sure that it would do that less over time. It also has fairly easy set up and only one cord that connects into your controller, so you dont have to worry about stepping on cords or getting caught on anything. however, this headset, you are supposed to be able to control game volume with the L side headphone and chat volume with the R side. in addition, the L side is supposed to be able to mute game volume while the R side mutes your own mic. In both of the headsets I received, the L side did not mute the game volume but the R side muted my mic. The L side headphone also changed volume for both the game and chat. my LS31LE headset had a similar function to these, where the L side would mute game and edit game volume where the R side would mute your mic and edit chat volume. This pair actually did that, whereas the LS35X did not do that when it was supposed to be able to. The sound quality and overall quality of the headset is great. It would be even better and would receive 5 stars if it actually did what it was designed to do. Keep in mind, I ordered one, got a replacement and still had the same problems if not more with the second.

These things sound great! Like the light in the microphone that turns red when muted. Just don't like the constant sound dropping in and out

I bought the lucid sound ls35x headphones after my 4 year old Turtle Beach 420x Stealth headphones finally bit the dust. I had read great reviews for the ls35x's and thought that they might be a good buy. Especially while on sale. When I received them i was impressed by the build quality of the headphones and the packaging. The first thing i did when i opened the box was toggle at their weight. The heavy metal build really wowed me. But. When I put the headphones on. Paired them to my xbox which was admittedly much faster than I thought. I immediately noticed the bass. Now. Coming from turtle beach headphones which have an A. Larger Sound stage due to the customizable sound presets. And B. Have in my opinion the most balanced highs and lows of any headphone I've worn. I couldn't help but recoil. Even in games where bass wasnt really present. My ears rumbled, and it really muddied gameplay. I noticed an immediate downward trend on my performance in games like Gears 5, rainbows 6 siege and Battlefield. Games that I use sounds like footsteps and gunfire in to figure out where enemies were coming from. The sounds of footsteps in R6 Siege were now non-existent and I was very frequently snuck up on in gears 5 because when a gun fight was happening around a corner. I didn't know. Because the headphones drowned the fire in bass, making it hard to tell the difference between my characters heavy footsteps and imminent death around the corner. Now I wanted to give the headphones a chance because they were VERY comfortable. So comfortable I would forget they're on. But I just couldn't shake the bass, and it isnt even adjustable! These headphones would be an 11/10, 5 star pair if the sound preset was adjustable and I could turn bass down and raise the highs. Also. A minor note but. The voice monitoring is directly linked to the game volume which is a problem because the second time i used the headphones. I thought they broke because I had turned down the game volume and couldn't figure out why I couldn't hear myself. All in all, if these headphones gave the option to change the sound preset then I would love to use them everyday. They're great in terms of build quality but in my opinion. Bad in terms of sound balance.

Note I shipped this to the UK from Amazon US. Bearing in mind my other headset is the Arctis Pro Wireless, it is a hard act to follow. Build quality & comfort I don't need to labour the point when it comes to build, LucidSound's headsets are extremely well made across their range. The LS35X is more about refinement, even over their flagship headset LS40 (soon to be replaced by the LS41). The memory foam padding is very comfortable, the hinges are more solid and the move to oval earcups beneficial. The headset is deceiving, in that they aren't especially light in the hand, but during a 4 hour gaming session I literally forgot I was wearing them. No issues with comfort whatsoever, though the suspension headband design SteelSeries employ still has the edge. Audio performance The most important aspect. I will use the Arctis Pro Wireless as a reference again because that headset has superb clarity. The LS35X is extremely close in that aspect, with well defined lows, mids and highs, which offers similar clarity. Where it arguably beats the Arctis is overall balance, because there's no obvious weakness. The LS35X are not bass heavy, as say the Astro A50, but they do produce sufficient punch and don't distort under the strain - assisted by those 50mm drivers. Overall an extremely balanced sound, with superb clarity, impactful bass and well-defined positional awareness. I used both Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos. To be honest it is difficult to distinguish between the two; both offer exceptional surround sound, with neglible differences. If anything Windows Sonic offers a wider soundstage, but both technologies provide great precision - ideal for providing ample warning during Blackout! Performance I have noted a few customers complaining about drop outs. I am using this headset in the UK (imported from Amazon US) and in 8 hours total play I've not experienced a single drop out, or malfunction of any kind. I had the headset up and working in seconds and has worked flawlessly since. However, days later... I am updating this review because I'm experiencing some interference issues. No audio dropouts as yet, but a crackling sound which when it starts doesn't stop, only to go away when I turn everything off and return to it much later. I'm still figuring out the problem, but it isn't a good sign, and a first for a wireless headset in my home. If it persists I will be returning the headset. Mic quality I have had no complaints from friends using the boom mic, which comes across as clear. Apparently I don't sound any different from when using the Arctis. I recommend placing the mic relatively close for mic monitoring feedback however, which is on the subtle side. The internal mic is merely a fall back option, so unless you want to sound like you are in a cave, the boom mic is always advisable for gaming. Features The headline feature being wireless connectivity, the rest of the feature-set is somewhat sparse. There are no alternate EQ settings, which may disappoint some, but when the signature sound is so impressive, not having access to additional modes I'll likely never use is a minor loss. The biggest feature I feel it lacks is Bluetooth, which should be a feature of any modern gaming headset. The added versatility of Bluetooth would enhance this product. Conclusion A great sounding headset with some teething issues concerning reliability. On reflection I couldn't possibly recommend this headset based on other people's experiences, and the issue I am having with sound distortion, which is very disappointing considering the long wait. If I find a fix I will amend this review, otherwise I will be sending it back. A real shame, because there's a lot to like. Hopefully there is a firmware fix, which is inexcusable given the numerous delays.
