I like to put it underneath other blankets and turn it on ten minutes before snuggling up in bed. The room we use it in is particularly cold, and this blanket makes us forget that. The cord can be a little bulky, and the button can be easily bumped to turn the blanket on/off accidentally, so I flip the blanket upside down so that both the cord and switch are at the end of the bed, out of the way. No more accidentally pressing the button! Boy is it warm, too. It heats up nicely and doesn’t get overly hot.

My husband and I both have one. We work from home and it's great to wrap up in while sitting at the desk and then you can keep the heat down. It is just the right heaviness and size to cover you up well.
