We received the Shusher as a gift from our baby registry and initially it was amazing! It helped to lull our son to sleep and keep him asleep on car rides, in his crib, etc. However, for as fantastic of a product as it is, it certainly was not built to hold up to the lightest bit of wear. Our first Shusher was sitting on the couch next to our photographer during our infant photo shoot and fell onto our rug and the piece that holds the batteries in place broke, rendering it unusable. We then received a second Shusher as a replacement and within an hour it also fell on the floor and broke. So we ordered a third Shusher and when the package arrived the Shusher wouldn't even turn on (and made the same tell-tale rattling sound as its two predecessors). While I know that in a perfect world the first two would've never hit the floor, however, given that this is a product meant for use with babies, one would think it would be built a bit more durably, especially for $35.

We got this because of allllllll the hype and I should’ve saved my money. I guess every baby is different but every time we turned it on, our little guy hated it! It just made him cry more. By the time he was here and we knew he hated it, it was too late to return. Might save it for the next babe and see if it’s a “miracle worker” for them... really wish I’d saved my money though.

I got this as a gift maybe a month ago? It’s been glitching for the last week or so. I see a lot of people saying they dropped theirs and it stopped working but we haven’t dropped ours. My brother got one for his baby too and theirs stopped working after about a month also. For just about $40 you’d think it would be made better.

Got this as a gift for our baby shower. We have been using this for our newborn and it works wonders. It really does. What I don’t understand is why the makers decided... oh, come time to replace the battery, let’s make it really really hard for our customers to make it happen by locking the battery with a screw... a screw that has the tiniest philips head. Brilliant! Wtf?! Case and point, baby woke up in the middle of the night, shusher’s batt needs to be replaced. My wife is trying to put our baby back to sleep. Here I am trying to unscrew it so I could change the battery. Got my screwdriver. Too big. Got a smaller screwdriver. Too small, it won’t lock into place to turn the screw. The screw they used is so small that if you use the wrong screwdriver, chances are you will damage the screw’s head and you won’t be able to unscrew it. You will need the perfect size screw driver to turn that thing around and replace the batteries successfully. Good luck. I just dont get why they engineered it this way. If they were worried the baby will accidentally open it and get to the batteries... it’s a dang baby for crying out loud! Their hands could barely grasp anything.

Someone gifted this to us and it seems like a nice concept but the 15 min setting now goes shshshshsh instead of shhhhhhhh like it should, after using it maybe 10 times. Obviously broken. Also who in the world decided to make it round and put the speaker at the bottom??? Terrible design. Doesn’t seem to work any magic. We got a sound machine for cheaper that had many sounds and baby likes the ocean waves just as well. I was shocked to see the price of this piece of junk.

Others have already commented on the 30 minute timer so i won't go there. But the round design is terrible. The only flat area is where the speaker is at. So if you set it on a surface the isn't level is going to roll and fall off something. I'm assuming this is why it also now every once in awhile gets stuck and the noise goes from a gentle shush to the shush remix firing at you.

So hoped this would work since hubby and I were having trouble keeping up the shushing it was taking to soothe our son. Got this on same day shipping and immediately set it to work. The first time I used it I had it at a medium volume, and it SEEMED to help. All three of us were sick with colds (hubby bronchitis), so trying to keep the air needed to shush while suppressing coughs was just not happening. The next time (a few hours later) my son started sobbing uncontrollably almost the instant this thing was turned on. I tried different volumes and distances from his little head. Nothing worked. I shut the thing off, and it took me a long time shushing myself to calm him back down to where he started. Not one to quit so easily nor dismiss the chance it could be unrelated, I used it again a few hours later and was met with the same result. This went on for several more uses until I decided to ship it back. On the other hand, the product itself does exactly what they claim. It provides a consistent shushing in a male voice (It didn't seem overly robotic to me.) that can run for 15 or 30 minutes at a time. It was light weight and extremely easy to operate. I cannot use this for my son, but perhaps it will work for your children.

Not going to lie this puts my baby to sleep within minutes but the second this thing shuts off she wakes up. For the life of me I don’t know why there wouldn’t be a feature to leave this on continuously opposed to shutting off within 15-30 mins. Also, the sound comes from the bottom of the unit but that is also how it’s supposed to stand up. If you stand it up, the sound is blocked. If these two issues were resolved this would be an amazing product but without that it’s just a 2 star product.

This item works great to help my baby fall asleep. However, it suffers from a whole bunch of design flaws, which if fixed, would make this a five-star product. 1. Speaker is on the bottom. This means that you can't stand it up. If you do, the speaker plays straight into the ground or table, and you can't hear the noise. So, then you need to lie the device on its side, which leads to the next problem... 2. It's round. So when you lie it on its side, it rolls around. If the surface is a slight incline (like many pack-and-plays), it won't stay in place. Really annoying. 3. The strap is on the top, opposite the speaker. So if you're cradling your baby and holding the shusher, it's not that loud because the sound is being directed down toward the ground, instead of up toward the baby. 4. Horrible controls that are difficult to use with one hand. The volume is controlled by twisting the bottom. Power is controlled by twisting the top. I have decent sized hands and I find this difficult to do with one hand. Many of us will be holding a baby in one hand, so one-handed operation should have been a consideration when they designed this device. 5. Two ways to turn it off makes it confusing to operate. You can turn the power off (turn the top to triangle mode), or you can turn the volume so low that it powers off. This makes it confusing to figure out how to turn it back on. You need to turn it back on the opposite of how you turned it off. It's so dang hard to turn the thing back on (see #4 regarding one-handed operation). When I sit there rocking my baby to sleep, listening to the shusher, I imagine redesigning this thing to fix all of its design flaws. Then I'd build it and sell a ton of them!

This is our second shusher. We have had it a little over a month. We absolutely loved our first one however it got lost, which we are very disappointed about. We purchased a second one hoping for the same amazing product and quality, however when we got this one it already had batteries in it. I believe it was used. If I am paying $35 for a product I want it to be new and to work. It needs to be worth my money. Our first one we used daily and had planned to do the same with this one. We noticed upon a arrival it was much more quiet than our previous one, we at first just thought they had changed the production of the product and made them more quiet. As time went on we noticed it cutting in and out all of the time. We took it for a trip over the weekend and the batteries died. We went to replace them and noticed immidiately the battery cover and contacts were all corroded and it no longer works at all. This was very disappointing as we use it for car rides and love the product when it works. Had we gotten a new product that worked well like our first one, it would reciveve 5 stars like our last one did. Now we can no longer use this and do not want to spend another $35 to receive another poor quality shusher.
