Very pleased with my purchase - excellent condition

OMG.... I'm thoroughly happy with this ipad. I am a 100% FAndroid. But my 2yr old granddaughter stayed with her aunt this summer. And she loves playing some of the ipad only apps on her aunties tablet. (Auntie uses her tablet for behavioral therapy games at her job as a therapist) Since she loved using hers, I thought I'd keep it going by getting an ipad she can use and me not be overly concerned that she'd break. And load it with educational games she can continue to play. First - I received the tablet a week early. Im not sure why it stated an 8 day shipping time but I got it in 2. Very happy. Second - The body of the ipad wasn't in good condition. It was in excellent condition! I had to do a lot of searching and up close looking to find imperfections. Im very happy with the condition I received it in. Third - On to the main stuff. It works! As I said, I'm an Android till i die kinda person. I don't like the Apple iOS platform - AT ALL. I have no idea why there are so many dedicated Apple users!!! (Sorry, I'm getting off my soap box) I set up my AppleID. Apple wants total control. I can download the ios update until my ID is verified in 24 hours - that's what the Apple rep stated. Speaking of which, I called to find out why I kept getting the error that I couldn't connect to the app store and to try again later (24hr AppleID thing). Again, I have no idea why so many... never mind. But I must say, the rep was very helpful with ALL of my questions (I had a few other, how do I... questions). No real wait time. English appeared to be her first language. There wasn't any awkward, repeat back what I said kinda conversation. I am extremely happy with my customer service interaction. But back to the systems operation. The ipad is a bit on the slow side. But I knew it probably would be by looking at the specs ahead of time. It's not super slow, but slower than I'm use to with my GALAXY, my desktop, laptop or even my Chromebook. But for a 2yr old, it's plenty sufficient. I added a screen protector (no bubbles - YAY). Also put it in a kid friendly foamishlike case. Fourth - The only "issue" I see that may become a problem is the charging. The cord plugs in, but not easily. It pulls out, but not easily. And it charges verrrrrrrrrry very slowly. When I turned it on right out the box (plain white box), it was at 69%. It was shipped 2 days ago and was asleep - not turned off. I did my set up, did some looking around, navigation learning, AppStore error issue, was able to load a few kid apps, personalized it a little, then turned it off. I left it plugged in last night from 12:35 am when I finally put it down to 7:15 am just before I left for work. It went from 49% to 97%. It shouldn't take close to 7 hours to charge half way. But I noticed the same comment from others as well. I'll see if that becomes a major issue. BTW- I really love the size of the screen (9.7) and it's quick any side rotation. It's squarishness makes any rotated page look exceptionally nice. There's not a lot of trying to fit a wide page on a slim rotated rectangular screen - if you get what I'm saying. All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase of this ipad! High praise to this seller (and my boo Amazon, of course). I don't foresee any, but if problems arise in the next 90 days, I'll update as my grandbaby hasn't come by to play with the tablet yet.

Best product you didn't know you needed!

Let me start out by saying, I am neither a Apple Fanboy, nor a pro-Windows person. I have a Windows phone paired with a Mac computer. So, I generally buy products based on the product rather than the company. At first, I was completely against getting an iPad, since I figured that my Mac could do anything that my phone couldn't. I broke down my favorite aspects and least favorite aspects of the iPad 2 (not software, but hardware): Favorites: 1) The weight distribution of the tablet: It doesn't seem to be too heavy, or too light (as in cheap). 2) Materials: I was leaning more toward a Android tablet, but the materials that went into those felt so cheap to me. The iPad 2 has a great aluminum feel to the back, with a glossy front. I miss the Gorilla Glass of my Samsung phones though, since I never needed a screen protector. 3) Everything just works: If you have ever had an Android phone, you understand what I mean. Occasionally, the Android OS just freezes, or crashes (at least on my previous phone). When you press the home button, there is no lag. This has more to do with the software of the iPad (iOS 5). True, it is more of a restricted OS than the Android OS, but its a sacrifice I was willing to make. 4) The prestige that comes with an iPad: This may sound shallow, but I didn't not want to have to defend my position of getting an Android tablet over an iPad. This holds its value long into the future, verses lesser known Android tablets. 5) Clean lines: A minimalistic design. Clean cut, very stylish. Least Favorite: 1) True, the iPad is very balanced, but it does get heavy when reading after awhile. If you are looking for an ereader and won't be going into the features of the iPad, then don't buy it. Buy the Kindle Fire or another device. 2) Every accessory seems to be (excluding a few of course) very expensive. If you want a good deal, you have to be willing to hunt for awhile, buy used, or pony up the extra money to buy the protective case, or screen protector, etc. 3) I still feel nervous carrying it around with me. Its a double edge sword... yes, I love the prestige that comes with the ipad, but so do the thieves. Overall, this review isn't going to make someone who doesn't want one, buy an iPad. What I must say is: if you have never used an iPad, don't hate on iPad owners. After using this for awhile, I can't understand my hesitation at first to buy one, or why I waited so long. Advice: rumors are swirling about the next iPad (claims to be iPad 3). Do your research on the rumors or wait, so that you can buy the most up to date out there.

iPad is my newest addiction...

So first let me say I looked and drooled over the iPad 2 for what felt like forever!!! It came to a cross roads where my husband said if you can prove to me that you need it you can get it... Well need and want are two very different things but I justified the purchase by listing all the functions and daily life the iPad would help with. I got my way and when I got my iPad was thrilled with what I had expected to be a super functioning and helpful tool. I hadn't realized just how wonderful it would be. From movies, music, books, shows, orginization, games and productivity, the iPad has made waves throughout my house. My husband has since admitted the need for more than one iPad in a single household. He is on it almost as much as me! Our 4 year old has found it to be enthralling and has provided a great outlet for learning, and entertainment! It is easy to use, even for the kiddos and has provided our family with a great helper on long trips. Some of the apps are expensive but that is okay when you are choosy with your needs. Most apps have a free version. I have gotten pretty fast on the keyboard. The iPad connects easily to available wifi and makes using the feature painless. I love my iPad! I reccomend a case immediately! With an investment such as this you can't be too careful. Usually you can find them online or in discount stores. Because the model is the same size as the previous iPad and will likely be the same as the iPad 3 screen protectors need not be outrageously priced. I have had issues finding all the books and magazines I thought there would be, however I expect in short order there will be releases. Apple is always coming out with new and innovative products, accessories and updates. Great purchase!!! I am very satisfied. I am a Android lover, and iPad almost has me convinced I need an iPhone on my next go-round!! We shall see! If you don't have an iPad, dont hesitate, get it, it is well worth the price.

After a couple of Android tablets, this is the one

I'm a developer and Android fan who also happens to have and Android phone which I love. So I was looking for the same experience in a tablet, and mostly because of Android being open and the fact that I may be able to apply custom roms, etc. After researching a lot, months ago I found the Androids tablet to be superior, or so I thought, to the iPad. Thats because I compared the hardware specs, usb support, etc. So I bought an Archos tablet first and then a GTab. But to be honest, the experience was never fluid or at least not near to what I was used in my phone. The UI is very laggy and there are too many bugs still. After a while I couldnt stand it anymore and I sold them. I think the problem is the software, Android, which is evolving and is still not ready for primetime, though I do think it will be sometime given the currnt trend. So I decided to give the iPad a try. And it was worth it. The experience of this product is amazing, everything is crisp and fluid, even with less hardware than the Android ones. There's just no way to compare the OS in this regard. The iPad offers the best experience for a tablet today. If you don't believe me go and try one for at least 30 mins. I know that Apple is closed and all of those things I also hate, but still, the experience of using this device is so amazing it outweights other purely inellectual aspects, at least for me it does. If you want a tablet that is fluid, reliable and just works, buy the iPad. Even the iPad 1 will do. If you want to play with roms and don't mind the bugs and UI freezes and basically don't mind spending time debugging usability issues, buy and Android tablet for the nice things like USB integration and openess. For now I'll stick to Android for phones and to Apple for tablets. Let's see what happens a year from now. Hope this review helps.

The best product made in the last 20 years.

When Apple and Steve jobs made the ipad 1 I felt like I did not need one since I thought it was just a big iPod touch. So I waited then all the reviews were saying its good, but it did not have a camera. The ipad 2 is the one to get. Its great to look at, its thin, light, big, comes with 2 cameras, the screen is very beautiful, the colors pop. The sound is loud. But what makes the iPad 2 great is the APPS. Any app from cooking to taking the placement test to college to great games like BAD piggies,BASTION,Sonic the hedgehog, etc the app store has it ALL. You can also put your iPhone apps on it and make them bigger to fit the screen, you lose some resolution but that's nothing. Pros. Great looking Thin Big beautiful screen Software is great APPS anything you came think of. Movies Music Face time 10 hour Battery life with wifi on. Cons 16gb is not enough, apps are using retina display making some apps and games 2gbs per one. Sound grill is in the back you need to cup your hand on it to aim the sound at you. Get credit card ready, you cant have fun on this thing without purchasing apps. When you compare the ipad 2 with ipad 3 all you get is the higher screen resolution the processor is the same and it has a 1 gig of memory on it,just a bit stronger to handle the screen, other wise there are no differences. You can do ipad 2 vs ipad 3 on youtube and see your self.Ipad 3 also comes with a 5 mp camera but has no flash. The ipad 2 cam sucks but it can record really good vid. At the end the ipad change my life and it will help and change yours. Mark my words the ipad (tablets) in the future will replace laptops in like 5 to 10 years.

Most innovative Tablet out there

Pros: The iPad 2 is by the best selling tablet out there. Comparing to other tablets the ipad 2 is far more efficient and worth every penny. You have a front facing webcam to chat with all your facetime buddies and if you have an application you can even chat with android users as well! The touch screen is both elegant and accurate to the exact point of your finger. Also with the new A5 dual-core 1Gz processor this will surpass any applications. However im telling you all the pros about the product and I'm not one of those all out apple fan boys I believe every device out there has a purpose but some are more worthwhile for your money. Cons: Despite all the good looks and great hardware and software the device is fragile and you must buy a case for it or its prone to scratches unlike most android device they have a much more durable glass one known as gorilla glass. Also the camera isnt even barely a megapixel the quality of the images are horrible and you have a vga front facing camera. Overall: this is a great buy because the amount of application offered from apple's App Store benefits you more than Androids app store. I have to admit apple's app store has a higher quality of apps and a lot better utilities and such. I use this alot for school so its the perfect tablet to use a researching tool and typing up notes and organizing my work.

My Pad

I can't find anything wrong with Ipad2. I don't even know why anyone would want Ipad 3 or 4. If your eyes aren't what they once were then don't make the mistake of getting a smaller tablet. This one is perfect. Not heavy. Not thick. Best Apps you can find. I hardly ever use a computer anymore. Now idiots writing virus programs for Windows operating systems doesn't matter. My Kindle Fire books load into this via a terrific App and I can read them with comfort. I can watch movies on it although I rarely do since TV technology lets me do that on a 55 inch screen. But you "can" send video from the Ipad via an "air video" capability and view it on the big TV. World Camera Apps let you see the world live on mounted video cameras. Watch it snow up north while basking in 70 degree warmth in the south. Cool. Push a button and see the total of all your investments and bank accounts. any time. That's the MINT App. Just save up and get the thing. Great technology. Gotta love it. I use it every day.

excellent hardware and service

I bought the iPad for my wife. If you're not a Mac user, it might be a little difficult to get used to, at first, as it was for her. However, it's well worth the learning effort. After an initial slow, but fun orientation and adjustment period, she loves it. It's fun, attractive, and pretty funciontal. I found it was not good for doing my homework asssignments and heavy duty work, because of its small size and onscreen keyboard (not effecctive if you really know how to type). However, once we added a bluetooth keyboard, I thought that it really could be a good "only" computer for anyone but a hard core document writer. I certainly would consider it for myself, as a travel and meeting device, but I'm still not giving up the big comfortable screen on my desk in the office. One more important note. Customer service is superb to any I've used anywhere in my life. Representatives are friendly, responsive, well-educated and just good folks. Thanks, Mac.

Very pleased!

Better than expected! I bought this item used for roughly $172 with tax. The item was "acceptable," but it's near perfect! Nothing is wrong with the iPad's inner workings. The screen is completely free of scratches. There's only one tiny dent in upper left hand corner. However I expected worse so I'm very pleased! And I couldn't care less as long as it works. Seriously, there is no reason to buy this item new. You can get a terrific price here on Amazon. Get a brand new Air if you need it to be new. I will add that this iPad2 is running iOS 8 very well (if anyone happened to be worried). I am somebody who doesn't need a fancy camera or screen on a tablet. If you agree, do like I did and get a good deal by buying used!

Previously skeptic user, now convinced

What's there to say? I'm an Apple user, so buying this one (at the price it was offered) was never a problem... although, I must admit that I used to think that the iPad was the dumbest, most useless invention ever. In fact, I bought it so that my son would leave me alone, and to give him a device to watch videos stored in its small drive. Now... I am the one using it (a lot!) to watch Amazon and YouTube videos mostly. There are some apps for him in it that I may delete as he gets older, but, as of right now, considering, I think it's a good purchase.
