I bought this inexpensive range finder to replace another brand that I misplaced on the golf course.I was almost scared off by the negative reviews but took a chance to see if this modestly priced unit would do.At firstI found myself measuring the distance to trees behind the greens and was not happy, but I learned to use it effectively.Heres how to do it.First, twist the focus knob and zero in on the flag not the flag stick!.While focusing on the flag, hold the unit very steady, press and hold the appropriate button. The unit will vibrate when it gets a reading in the center of the screen, and when you let up on the button you will see the elevation adjusted reading at the bottom of the screen as well.Repeat as above to confirm.Remember, shoot the flag, not the flag stick, and hold it steady!

Great device for the price.I love the slope adjustment feature 147 yds to pin, plays like 129 yds.Feels a little fragile but Im not rough with my stiff. The hard shell protective case is a BIG bonus! My only criticism is the yardage when there are alot of things in the viewfinder. If you target something far away and there is something closer and in the line if sight, you may not get accurate readings.Best in clear, wide open line of sight!

Got this for estimating range to archery targets.Works much better than expected. It can be a bit sensitive when ranging a target with brush or other items that can get in the way, but you just have to take several readings to get comfortable with the distance. Its very light weight, easy to use and the batteries have lasted for several months so far.The magnification is nice, as it eliminates the need for binoculars to see my arrows if within 40 yards.

I use this for hunting and found it to be spot on despite friends saying that I needed to spend two to three times as much for a better brand. Started using it to check distance on my arrow bag and it was accurate, then when I needed it to range my deer it also was perfect and helped me seal the deal. The only con is that there is an audible click when you press the range button

Compared to my father in laws bushnell 250 range finder my ranges were only 3-5 yards off. Works great for the price. The only downfall I don’t like is the focus lens. I mean it’s cool and all but I don’t like having to focus every time I’m trying to locate a pin. But for some People I guess that’s a plus. The other thing I noticed is the laser can get easily interfered giving you a short range reading.

Nice hard travel case, wrist strap, size fits any hand, rubberized body. Has features normally seen on more expensive models. Eyepiece is a little hard to get centered over my eye lacks a rubber eyecup. Focus knob controls distance focus and crosshair focus, but when I focus for distance, the crosshairs are badly out of focus, and vice-versa. There should be a way to have the crosshairs remain in focus while turning the focus knob to get a clear view of the target. Accuracy seems good at 100-150 yds, based on prior measurements, but not tested at greater distances yet.

Could have been 5 stars, easy to operate, view finder very clear, readings are clear and easy to see and fast feedback, which is very important to myself and the golfers behind me, no wasted time for anyone. Only wished the slope distance was on top which are larger numbers and a little easier to find, since that would be the main distance for club selection. Being able to turn the slope distance off would be helpful in tournament play. That being said, its a great golf tool and very accurate. Worth the price for sure. I tried some of the cell phone distance apps, Im sure they are good but not very helpful to me if I cant see the screen in sunlight.

I was ready to hate ...

I was ready to hate this after the first one I received, in which I was totally unable to insert the battery. The company IMMEDIATELY sent me another one, like no joke, the next day. I was so surprised by this that I gave them a second chance. So, yeah, A+ for customer service! With the replacement order, I was able to load the battery, but it was NOT easy, so I think they will have to work on this. Also, the slide-on battery cap holder seems weak, and I worry that it will pop off at some point. Also needs redesign. As for the performance, you should be aware that you have to focus the eyepiece. This seems minimal, and it did really allow for superb sharpening of the target. Measurements pinged off some local street things, as I have not been able to take it out to the golf course yet, and they were down to the half-yard.The item is light, yet seems sturdy. I think this is probably worth the price, without having to go all-in on a Bushnell or similar for 200. Comes with a sturdy, zippered carrying case, wrist band holder, and cleaning cloth, which are nice little bonuses. Will add to the review when I can use it for golf.

Pretty nice for the price

Granted, this was providit gratis for review, I looked up the price compared to more mainstream brands, like you'll find on MidwayUSA, and this seems to be a good value. One caveat; the display isn't lit which is a major problem if you're using this device in low light or against a dark background. The display is black text and symbols without any kind of light. It also shuts off automatically after 20 seconds. I found that to be an inconvenience while I was interpreting the info the display gives me. Other than that, I've played around with it and discovered that it is pretty accurate. I know how long my driveway is (120 yards), how far it is to the little group of trees in my back field where I usually harvest deer during season (100 yards), how far it is to the spot where, while I was sitting in a tree stand hunting, I shot the coyote that was killing my chickens years ago (200 yards). You can switch from metric to... I guess imperial (meters vs yards). This doesn't help if you are trying to measure the velocity of an object. It's cool that it actually measures an object's speed but it would be nice if the imperial version measured in MPH, not yards per hours. You will get kM/hour in the metric setting. The picts I included are basically what comes in the box and what the charging port looks like. It's MicroUSB and will charge with any available USB power source. Comes with the cable but not a power source which is fine with me because who doesn't already have a drawer full of the stupid things. Also has a threaded mount for a tripod for range use, which is going to be mostly what I plan on using this for. You can look the item up on Walmart's website which will actually show you what the optical display looks like. No removable batteries. Once the onboard battery wears out, you're out of luck. Overall, though, I like it and would definitely recommend it for the price.
