It's pretty okay. My kid had fun with it, but I wouldn't buy another one.

Missing several pieces that were advertised. 3 special pieces were not there at all and 2 of the fossil pieces were missing. The gems were nice but missing the coolest parts.

There wasnt any of the ones I expected to be in there. No geodes like it said in the description, no desert rose flower or pyrite. ALOT of beads :(

I was hoping for rocks that were at least about the size of a gumball - these were all tiny little chips and pebbles. Way too small to really get a look at them.

It’s nice but found a sharp object lodged in one of the rocks. My kids could’ve easily hurt themselves on.

I wanted to give a better rating. I love Rocks. Half of the box. I liked the rocks. Some were raw. The other half tumbled rocks. I liked the fossils. Here is where. I get upset. The other side is rock chips. There is no big rocks. It's a treasure hunt with no rocks. There is no way. To identify on the poster. The rock chips. This should have sold as rocks in a bag. Not advertises a treasure hunt or activity kit. This is not for kids. I love rocks. I won't buy this kit again. I'm keeping the kit for decoration purposes. Plus I don't want to deal with shipping back. Beverly

11/2/21 Update: I'm downgrading this review from a 3 star to a 2 star. It WAS fun for 1 day/session. Now my kids don't even want most of them as most are gravel size. Giving/throwing them away. I've never bought a rock/gemstone set before. My kids and I enjoyed this one. My only complaint is many were so teeny that it wasn't even worth sorting them, you could barely handle them, like large grains of sand - almost that bad. Might look good sprinkled over a shelf but don't be thinking they are all like 'specimens'. I think the kit could be improved if they changed it and gave you 40-50 of the larger sized ones, instead of 250 with many teeny ones. Overall it was fun. I'd probably buy another set in time, this one bigger gems. We did identify most. Some I couldn't tell. Some were not listed. Not so helpful. Had a few nice fossils, including 1/2 an ammonite shell and sharks teeth. Overall good fun.

The kids and I have a good time with this, but it's nearly impossible to tell what some of the rocks and minerals or even the fossils are, because they look nothing like the pictures. Then there's mystery rocks and minerals that we have no clue what they are. That could be a good learning opportunity but without pictures to match them to, we can't learn. Some of the stones are minuscule and tough to clean up. Some have found a home in the vaccum cleaner already due to this.

Based on other reviews I knew these were tiny but I didn't realize 95% of it was going to be pebbles. I wouldn't recommend this as an educational product because the pebbles make this activity nothing more than guesswork. It's better to get large pieces from a local mineral shop so you know what you're getting... Also mine was full of this red gravel that looks like it came right out of my driveway :\ it might be red jasper but there's just so much of it and images of it online don't look like this. Found a piece of rubber in the bag, too.

We were all expecting larger, colorful and more stones as shown in picture. Very surprising when the bag was opened and small stones and way less. Definitely not impressed.
