There’s so many tiny pebbles. There’s some good ones. It’s a nice set but I also got dancing bear collection for my older daughter and like it better because they aren’t so tiny. There’s so many tiny pebbles in this one that some just get lost and aren’t worth much. The bags that come with this one are very nice.

It was gift given to a 9 year old. The kid was so happy at seeing the gift and jumped and exclaimed this is exactly I want.

This is an over-the-top collection. Almost too many rocks and minerals, so I had to put some away before we could begin looking at them. Also, we did not find the fossilized dinosaur poop which was supposed to be in the fossil box. If it is there, it does not look anything like the picture on the guide. The guide is great by the way to cover the table and make a safe place to inspect. The magnifying glass could have been bigger and better, and I would recommend two for each kit so a parent and kid can inspect together and share their finds. We happen to have several other magnifying glasses (from Lakeshore Leaning) so we used them.

I bought this for my son for Christmas. He loves rocks and absolutely loved this kit! I was a little disappointed that there were a lot of really small rocks. I think I would have liked a few less rocks if they could be a little bigger. We also received a bunch of the same rock as well as quite a few of the polished rocks bring broken. The poster with the types of rocks is plastic which is nice, but it only has a few rocks on it and says you have to research all the others. I don't even know where to begin. My son really loved it though, and that's what matters.

The set is ok, and it’s good for studying the different types and comparing them. But half the kit is tiny chips, which makes this kit not worth the full price. I got it when there was a coupon, and for that price, I’ll still keep it. But I will not be ordering again, as originally planned. You get a small bag of polished rocks (handful), a small bag of rough unpolished rocks (a little more than a handful), and small box with the fossils (just a couple pieces), and then a large bag of tiny chips. If the kit had all small stones, it would be nice. But these chips are so so tiny, it’s hard to even hold and look at them. If you’re planning to use these to fill little bottles, then that’s about all I can think of that would make them useful. The kit comes with a magnifying glass and nice thick cloth bags to store everything in. The chart is thin plastic, somewhat like the dollar store table cloths or a playdoh mat.
