I think the product is great! But the storage of the machine and the bags is awkward, even annoying!

This is pretty good for anyone living in a small space and needs counter space or someone who does not have a large family. Its perfect for portioning off larger quantities of meat so it saves you money on your grocery trip. I knocked one star off because it is super loud and not as big as I would hope for a larger family such as mine. I got this for when my family needs to freeze meat, and it works pretty well! The instructions don't say this, but make sure to wait for the button to stop glowing before you mess with it further---it is not finished until then! Set up is easy too: just plug it in and it's ready to go. My main complaint is that the instructions weren't the most informative, but I also have never used a foodsaver before so I could just be stupid. For us this was the perfect time to try this with an abundance of vegetables & some fruits from our garden to freeze for winter. There is a slight learnig curve in using this, we had to be make sure it was lined up correctly before sealing. We were also carefull not to fill the bags too much & when doing so it did produce what looked like a tight seal. The handheld seemed a little stiff but after more use it seemed easier to use. Hopefully this will prevent any freezer burn which is the main objective along with the convenience of having all of our garden produce stay fresher and taste better, lasting well into next year. First use the unit would not vacuum or seal, kept timing out. Tried everything including YouTube suggestions, very frustrating. Returned for replacement. The second unit works flawlessly. I want this to store food in freezer, homemade pizza and meats now!

It’s a great machine, but the directions are lacking. There’s no detail, just very basic information. And there’s nothing on the Foodsaver website that will help you.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This FoodSaver vacuum sealing system included a great container that you can set to either marinate mode or vacuum/store mode. You use the FoodSaver to vacuum out the air. Nice addition to the regular FoodSaver. The unit itself came with an ample supply of sealing bags and the instructions were easy to follow. When you are cooking for only 1 or 2 people, it is nice to make a normal recipe-size portion and then just seal and freeze the rest to eat another day. This is a great way to accomplish that.

Plus, it helped me better organize my refrigerator by reducing the amount of Tupperware containers I used to have taking up space. I vacuum seal raw meat and fruit when I get it and it greatly increases the amount of time I had to eat it, I hate when food goes bad before I have the chance to eat it, and am especially anxious about storing meat. It also has a handheld vacuum that works on zipper bags and Tupperware. Plus, a cutter to size the bags based on the food so there is less waste. It sits well on my counter and has a nice silver finishing, so it looks premium. I’m glad I got this!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This FoodSaver is easy enough to use. I experimented with sealing different things. One was a ice bag for therapeutic purposes. Worked like a champ. I sealed precooked salmon burgers to put in the freezer. And, I sealed a bag of cereal. All pretty easy. There is one design flaw I have to mention. You have to push down extra hard on right hand corner to make the safety interlock make connection. I will get a lot of use from my FoodSavor VS3182.
