I tend to own older cars. These are cheap enough that I usually keep one in each of the cars. As my kids have gone off to college I toss one in the car so when they have a light come on, I can help them trouble shoot it without having to go to a shop.

Okay. I used this on my '01 Jetta 8-10 months ago, worked fine. Several months later tried it on a friends Jetta-link error. Tried it on my '03 Silverado-link error. PLugged it back in '01 Jetta-all good. You know how men just toss directions, etc, away? Well, seems this code reader works like this: When you first use it, plug it in. Start the vehicle...once running, hit enter. SImple. Now the next time you use it on the same vehicle, plug it in, turn the key to run, no need to start the vehicle. Works fine. Now if you plug it into another vehicle, you need to do as I stated first, that is plug it in, start vehicle, then hit enter. This might help those that say it works on one car but not the other.

I am very pleased with this purchase. I used the scanner for my Honda Pilot 2007 and it provided me the code to let me know that there is an issue with the catalyst converter. I followed the instruction and it took less than a minute to get the reading.

Good. Works well and accurate. Reasonably priced I took my car to a mechanic for a chrck engine light. My car also felt like it is losing power and having a hiccup. Having 0 knowledge about csrs, i was a ble to check what the problem was. Was able to figure out how much parts would it cost and labor. I coild have saved more money doing the work myself but because I am new and that the problem appears to be bigger I didnt want to damage my car. Learned something new, and confident that i wont get ripped off at the mechanics.

I got this to just troubleshoot and get some good prices before I pay way too much at dealership or a shop. It reads the codes great and just look them up on your phone. The internet has all the sources you need to troubleshoot your car with one of these.

AWSOME!! Been trying to get my truck inspected for some time now but i had an engine check light error. Driving a 2000 S10 Chevy pickup, plugged this thing in found what was causing it.. easy fix and cleared the error with no issues what so ever. Would highly recommend this!

Any body who is using this reader, the instuctions say plug in an wait for C.A.N.OBD2. You will be waiting forever. After you plug in the unit hit enter a your ready to go. Great intructions.

This isn't a high-end OBD reader, so it doesn't have ALL of the features you can find on pricier models, but it sure does do what it's supposed to do. For the DIY guy, just needing an occasional read on a family or friend's car, this meets the need. I was pleasantly surprised that the user manual includes a list of codes & their meanings, so you don't have to look them up on the internet. Recommend.

After my purchase I got nervous some reviews said the "Reset" function Failed. My "Reset" command also registered as a "Fail" however while the CEL was "on", this isn't the first time the computer didn't have any error codes logged. Check Engine light did reset even with the "Fail" message on my car. Additionally, most error can be reset by disconnecting your battery for a period of time, please note before you do so to confirm you have your car radio security code so you don't get locked out of it. Impressed by the build quality of this low cost device, and the results of my first use. I have a very intermittent issue that throws the CEL, so going to keep this in my car to try pulling the code the instant I see it.

Paid for itself in 3 months. First error code denoted a faulty gas tank cap. Easy enough for me to replace and was able to clear code right away and pass inspection. Second time was a misfiring within the first 2000rpm. Cleared code and it hasn't come back. Saved me two trips to mechanic :)
