It is touted as dual band, but…

The router is advertised as dual band, and it automatically chooses 2.4 or 5.0 MHz based on what works best. This does not work for us. We have 3 smart devices that only work with 2.4, and they simply don’t connect.

Ours is working well so far.

The setup is pretty straightforward for this router. Using the app makes it user friendly. The range so far is acceptable but nothing special when compared to my previous D Link routers in the past. I might even say the signal strength does not extend quite as far as my older router which is no longer available. But so far, this router handles the internet traffic much faster and doesn’t get bogged down. I have a device rich environment and so far, this router is handling the traffic like a champ.

Great router for home use

Great router for home use, I would like to see some more advanced features and functions but it gets the job done for the basics, gaming, vpn, etc.

Solid router with a terrible UI.

Whoever designed the firmware interface needs to take a step back and re-evaluate what the user needs. This is the most dumbed down interface I have ever seen. Why can't I control which channel I use? Why are the DHCP settings so basic?Decent speeds and seems to be a solid router.

Short distance at high speed

I have tried a number of devices with this router. Compared to other routers i have had in the past, the distance I could get before my data throughput dropped off was not impressive. It works fine when close to router.

Good Router -- Terrible included accessories.

The included ethernet cable that they recommend you use to connect your modem to this router is TERRIBLE.~DO NOT~ use the included ethernet cable when setting up this router. Get a different one from a reputable seller for a more stable Wifi setup.I had seen some reviews from people saying that this router would drop constantly and require regular resets to function properly. Initially, I found the speeds of this router to be excellent, but I too became frustrated with the Wifi dropping -- sometimes in the middle of a zoom meeting!!Each time the Wifi dropped I would check my modem and see that my internet was still working fine, it was an issue with the router. As I was troubleshooting the issue I swapped the manufacturer provided ethernet cable with a different one I've had laying around.Lo and behold, I have not had any dropped wifi issues since making this change!Minus two stars from the product for including a terrible cable that makes their otherwise good product borderline unusable.

Not as good as the hype

The range is inferior to my 5 year old router and is only able to span a 50' radius. Through 2 4" stud walls. I purchased this with hopes of throttling my smart TV to 100MBPS, but it doesn't allow for specific thresholds, but rather priority of devices. Even if the other devices aren't consuming data at higher rates, it cuts it lower than the intended speed and causes the TV to drop to 480P.Would not recommend over my 5 year old TP-Link router.

Big let down

I had high expectations of this router as I have always liked d-link's past products because they allowed me to tailor tons of different settings. Unfortunately d-link has epically failed with this one. The product description sounded great but in all actuality it could not even compete in signal strength nor distance as my older ac d-link router. On top of that the ability to adjust settings, functions, and features has been nerfed and stripped from the settings menus. I have played with wifi repeaters that have many more functions and adjustments then this router. We returned it do to lack of performance.

Didn't last long

My D-Link EXO|AX AX5400 was fine for about a year and a half and then it stopped working. It cannot see the internet connection from the cable modem suddenly. All hardware was up to date on firmware updates. I'm outside of the manufacturer's warranty and didn't happen to buy the Asurion insurance policy I'm out a router. I just ordered a new router of a different brand. Very unhappy to have spent $123 for a router that lasted 1.5 years.

Worked fine, until it didn't.

Speeds and coverage were good, the GUI is pretty user friendly. However... After about 6 months it just stopped detecting any internet in from the modem, and to technical support costs $25 per CALL after the 90 day 'free tech support' window. I've never heard of a company not offering full aftercare for their products up to the date that they stop support entirely. Would not buy again.
