It works

Title says it, it works, it does not however connect at the speeds indicated. I tried several different ways to connect it and none would get to the listed speed.Pros:+ Small form factor+ Only sticks out a little bit+ Easy to installCons:- The installer program is located ONLY on the CDROM. Not only is it only on there it is on a small CD which some drives won't read. No big deal right? Just download it, right. It took me about 30 minutes to get it to download. First off the link on the site didnt click. I used Chrome and Firefox, neither would do anything when I clicked the link on the main page. I had to go through other pages to suss out where the link might be and I found it but it was really hard to find.- The UI for the software looks like 1995, its really old and antiquated. Not that it matters but it feels old and does not function right (see next)- Installing the driver + software (which I assumed I needed, as there are NO instructions on the box they assume you will use the CD, (who has a CD Drive anymore, really? I also have a dial up modem as well ). The software causes the device to STOP functioning. Only until I removed it all did I get it working.- Did I mention I have to use a wired connection to get the drivers?Once I got it working I did have success transferring files. See images for speeds. I also threw in a wired transfer test to see against consistancy.Overall, it's cheap gets you the internets on a device that may not be able to be wired. Above that it does not deliver.

Not suitable for use on a Mac.

I tried using this on three different Macs in our house running Sierra (10.12.6) and had identically disappointing results on all of them. The drivers I downloaded from the website came in a not-natively supported archive format, but did install fine once I grabbed SimplyRAR and unpacked them. After a reboot, a new NIC appeared in the network settings applet similar to any of several USB-to-Gigabit adapters I've used in the past, however it also uses its own WiFi taskbar program, which is where the whole thing fell apart. I'm running simultaneous dual-band 802.11C in my house, and after adding the new device MAC address, and entering the connecting info for the SSIDs into the Tenda WiFi config applet,, the connection just looped endlessly through failures. My AP has robust logging, and I saw no trace of the new device on there, but locally I saw no detail, diagnostics, or logs such as the native Apple WiFi components provide. So it's effectively useless for me. Perhaps I can scrounge up an old Windows laptop and test that, but honestly I'm in no rush to find an alternate use for a sofftware-defective product. Cannot recommend for use on a Mac, which does not inspire confidence for Windows or Linux use, either. Caveat Emptor.

Wifi-AC Dongle works, but drops connection randomly. Bad driver suspected.

When it isn't dropping, it works perfectly. I can utilize my full 120 mbps/12mbps Comcast service with low latency and jitter. However every few hours a crash occurs somewhere, either on the device's radio, its driver, or the Windows network stack that causes the device to reset. When this happens, it unmounts and remounts as if it had been unplugged. Sometimes it does this once per day, sometimes it does it multiple times within a few seconds, and sometimes it'll drop and enter a loop of resetting indefinitely or otherwise refusing to connect, forcing me to disable or unplug it and use another adapter entirely.I checked Windows Event Viewer, which first stated a crash was occurring because of a missing .dll that the installer had, but never placed in System32. So I did it myself. But now the device still fails the exact same way, and Event Viewer simply says the module in question has "stopped" and "restarted" when it does. I've tried all ports, USB 2 or USB 3, and uninstalling/re-downloading drivers from the Tenda website, with no change.Of course, any application that demands a reliable internet connection (Games, VPN, etc) are compromised or unusable as a result of this.

It does work, kinda.

I have had to use this twice, and then I bought something else because of the intrusive software and spotty connection.

Works great...when it works

Works sometimes but keeps dropping out. Tech support was nonexistent. We sent as few emails back and forth but to no avail. I'm running windows 10 and have all my drivers updated but still very unreliable.
