Functional but disappointing

I had previously purchased the 15C Max model and was in love with it. I purchased it because I was staying with my aunt for an unexpectedly long visit with my two very hairy dogs. The 15C Max model saved my relationship with my aunt and I ended up leaving it with her as a thank you gift. I was so impressed with the 15C that I had planned on getting it again for my house.I got an email ad for a discount code off of the "newest and improved" model. Sucker that I am, I purchased the G30 version right when it came out. I am really sorry that I did. Even with the coupon code, it just does not seem to match the value of the 15C.Unboxing:I noticed immediately the missing features that I had liked about the 15C. There is only one peripheral brush where there used to be two. At the time I thought this was no big deal but as I have said, I have two hairy dogs that I am surprised aren't bald yet. That second brush really makes a difference in sweeping up tons of dog hair.Next, I noticed that they did not include a remote control. Again I did not think anything of it until I needed it in a room with bad wifi. The missing remote is manageable but another disappointment given the less expensive model includes it.Cleaning:I do like that the G30 cleans in a straight line versus meandering around the room. What I found disappointing was that they removed a lot of the cleaning modes that previous versions included. Specifically, the edge cleaning mode was critical in getting all of the dog hair which likes to float to the edges of the room. That is no longer an option and is noticeable when paired with the missing second periphery brush. I notice this model does not come close to picking up the hair that the 15C was able to capture. The room is left with missed sections along walls and corners. You also are not able to point this vacuum in a particular direction which is frustrating. It cleans but not with the same efficiency as previous models. I don't come back to the room to be pleasantly surprised anymore, its more like "meh, it's fine".Special Features:It talks... more of a gimmick and nuisance in my household. My dogs are very offended by it talking and voice their opinions often. In-app control only works if you have strong wifi throughout your entire house. I lost it for a day once and could not ping it because it could not connect. I think it works with Alexa but again it is more of a gimmick in my mind if you lose it to no wifi connection. I like the app but with the loss of the various cleaning modes and directional control, there is no real point to using the app other than to check the battery.Overall:It cleans and saves you from whipping out the upright vacuum but don't expect a spotless floor. Seems like they stripped out a lot of functionality to add in bells and whistles that don't improve the cleaning ability. If you have pets with lots of hair, I would avoid this model and stick with one of the less expensive models. Ultimately I am very disappointed and wish I could swap out for the 15C.

Love Hate Relationship/See UPDATEs

It is like having a 2 year old in the house. She gets into trouble all the time, getting stuck in the same place every day, even 3 and 4 times within minutes. She has a hard time finding home. You have to keep an eye on her. BUT she does do a pretty good job of keeping the floor clean (the love part). I do not understand the navigation of this thing, it will go in a straight line then stop and go in circles. Some days she cleans the whole area, others she doesn't . This unit only has one brush, which I did not notice, would suggest getting one with two.UPDATE: Wanted to comment on the customer service of this company. My vac developed problems, horrible sound and error 4 ever few minutes. I contacted the company and they asked a few questions and wanted a few pictures and then sent me a new unit, it arrived in a few days and I was furnished with a return postage paid label to return the old unit. I am VERY HAPPY. with the quick service. Now to see how Rosie2 does. Thank you Eufy. Changing my rating to reflect this great service.UPDATE #2 It has been 9 months since I received the replacement vac mentioned above. I run the vac everyday. The replacement developed a problem, the side brush has begun working only part of the time. Contacted Eufy to see what can be done, they offered some suggestions, one involving buying a new motor for this part, they won't replace the unit even though it falls within in the 12 month warranty time, claiming the replacement is only warrantied for 3 months. I am posting this update more as info for others. The machines seem to last only a short time. Eufy has been great at replacing the original machine and though I was hoping for more this go around I am not surprised at the out come this time. I will adjust the stars only because it seems that the life span of this machine is short.Update #3. It appears that this vac lasts about a year. Eufy replaced my first one and it worked fine until last month, now all kinds of things are going wrong and though I have only had it a year Eufy will not do anything about it, because they replaced the original and say the warranty for the replacement is only 90 days, so all I can report is that the life span I have experienced is about a year. I will have to get a new one because it is acting up so badly, and it will not be a Eufy product. Hope these updates help someone in your choice.

Not worth the headache...

I've been a huge fan of Anker products for many years, but they have lost some credibility with this product. When we first set it up things worked great. Then one day it got stuck under the couch. We run it daily and for the first couple months it would only happen once a week. Not a big deal... come home, pull it out, and hit resume. Fast forward a couple more months and I've just about had it with this "upgrade" model with Dynamic Navigation 2.0. The stupid piece of junk gets stuck under the couch EVERY SINGLE DAY, and sometimes multiple times during the same cycle. Anker needs to put some basic intelligence into their navigation software and the device needs to "remember" troublesome areas.

Not the smartest robot in the room

It is slim and very attractive. It does well enough cleaning dog hair and dirt off of a hardwood floor. It's floor mapping is decent and the app is cute but not super useful.I am trying to use it to manage dog hair and dust in my bedroom which has no carpets and snap down bamboo flooring. The floors are darker than average and i am told that dark floors can be a problem, but visuals always suggest issues are with dark brown or black flooring. Mine has texture and color variations intended to emulate walnut which I feel is not uncommon.Nine out of Ten time I run this machine it manages to run over it's own home base and push it well askew of the wall. Then it can't find it's own home to recharge. If you set the lost device on the charger it will often not recognize it and not charge. When I looked up ways to improve the performance there were helpful suggestions like put the base on a SIX FOOT SPACE OF OPEN WALL???? How many people have that? And if their home is that large and organized... do they really want a vacuum ruining their lines? I did find a space under a large bureau that was nearly that wide and it did not help at all. When activated it would back up a couple of inches and then turn while still partly on the base, once gain dislodging it.Similarly, when I place it 6 feet away from it's home base and tell it to go charge it gets lost or runs over the base, dislodging it.My last vacuum was a Roomba I bought more than a decade ago and it did this job well. Granted this thing is a lot cheaper, but still very disappointed. Nevertheless I will keep it for now and see if i cant tweak it into performing better... thinking about sticking that base to the ground with some command strips and see how that goes.Good Luck!

Update: Vaccum got stuck again and now won't go to a whole section of my house.

I purchased this because my other vacuum died and I wanted to try a different brand.Update: The vacuum is now no longer cleaning a side of my house, but it has cleaned the kitchen about 6 times. The fact that the remote on the app can't be used during cleaning mode and that it goes back to the same spot no matter where you move it has made it unusable if it stops clean cleaning an area. I would send back if I was still in the return window. Had this for 60 days. My other vacuum was a Deebot and lasted 4 years. Ugh.Pros:-It cleans very well. We have two short-hair dogs and hardwood. Every day it is full of hair and dust.-Some robots roam around randomly (like our last vacuum) This robot goes back and forth getting nearly everything.-It gets the job done.-The mapping tool is nice to see where it’s been or if it has missed an area. (It will continue on its path if interrupted.)Cons:- It is loud compared to my last one.-It gets stuck everywhere and it drives me nuts. It gets stuck under the tv consoles, under a wine cart, under the couch and even under the fridge! This is a pretty big flaw because these spaces are so tight and not easy for the vacuum to try to get into. The sensors should stop the vacuum from going under when it senses resistance. I mean it rams into it 3 or 4 times, shoves itself 2-3 inches in and it’s wheel gets stuck. I have to barricade all of those spaces which is very inconvenient. My old vacuum never got stuck in any of those spots.- It has long brushes on the bottom which probably do a great job of cleaning, but it gets caught on the edge of my rug in the living room. The rug is thick and lays flat on the floor (doesn’t have wrinkles, rolling or anything that would cause that)- The lack of a remote is a bad choice. Since it gets stuck everywhere, it needs something more than the manual remote in the settings on the app. It’s a pain to lift my entire couch to get to the vacuum.Summary: if it didn’t clean so well, I would send it back. I can’t have it running when I’m not home because I don’t know when it will get stuck. Fortunately, I work from home so I can free it when it does. The cleaning is the most important part to me, but the other issues might not work for everyone.

Big Eufy Fan, but this robot is stupidly disabled to not clean a large floor, why?!

Robovacs have been cleaning my house for about 5 years, I am a big fan of their simple but sophistocated design, owner-replaceable parts and availability in their online store at REALLY fair prices. Kudos Eufy! But, I moved into a much larger house, and bought this more advanced mapping robot to ensure it thoroughly cleaned my main hardwood level. I love the mapping function, which works extremely well, and phone app to monitor square footage and where it has and has not cleaned. I love the fact that when the battery is low, it remembers the map it learned, recharges itself, and then returns to pickup where it left off, fantastic!Unfortunately, despite this otherwise being a phenomenal product, I am extremely unhappy that it does not clean my entire floor. The kitchen is once again covered in crumbs, along with my garage entryway. Why? Because Eufy engineers neutered this wonderful robot. If your floor is too large, after the second pass, it will forget everything and go to sleep for the day, ignoring areas it knows full well it skipped. Due to it's new methodical scan pattern, every day it ignores the same unfinished portion of my house, so the dirt piles up.This is RIDICULOUS, I'm an engineer, so I know full well that there is a single line of code in the robot that says something like "number_of_passes=2", defining this behaviour. If they would only change that to "number_of_passes=3", my floor would be cleaned, just like that. Or even better, put this control in the App. I have complained to customer support and made this suggestion, but 6 months later nothing is changed, despite the fact that they could fix this in 5 minutes. Is this incompetency? Is this stupidity? Or, is this some malicious attempt to hold full performance hostage, so they can sell it to us later in an "upgraded" product?! Who knows, but I'm very unhappy with what should otherwise be an excellent little robot. Anker, please get your act together on this.

10 month update

I've owned this unit for about ten months, here's what my experience has been. Background, this is my first robotic vacuum.. I only have hardwood floors so no comment on carpet cleaning. I don't have a big house. I empty the trash container and clean the brush after each usage.Cleaning; It cleans dust OK, when it picks it up and keeps it. I find clumps of dust all over my house after a cleaning. Having to clean up after the roboic cleaner defeats the purpose of cleaning with a robotic cleaner. Hair makes a mess of this unit. Hair gets caught in the brush and is extremely difficult to remove. You end up buying more brushes than you want as continually cleaning the brush of hair is time consuing and therefore defeats the purpose of using a robotic cleaner. The sweeping brush is poorly constructed and only lasts a few cleanings before it needs to be replaced as it's a mess and won't clean properly.I have to rearrange furniture before I use the cleaner. The robot isn't yet, "Smart". Several times I've found it in an unobstructed corner just spinning around before it stops and says it's obstructed. Add a corner table and it will stay in one spot for 5-6 minutes continually running into the wall or legs of the table. When it goes behind my sofa sometimes it's a five or six minute trip behind a six foot sofa. It runs into the sofa, then into the wall and continues to bang against both for way too long before it finds a way out. A table with chairs, I've given up on that working and I just put the chairs on the table out of the way.Overall I would describe my unit's cleaning ability as weak. The app with this unit could use some tweaking. The majority of time the app doesn't tell you if there is a problem. If you pick the unit up the app will tell you it's been picked up. Other times when the unit stops, or gets a cord caught in the sweeper or gets stuck in the corner my app doesn't indicate there is a problem. More than once I've had to wander around looking for my eufy without a clue where it is or why it isn't working.Emptying the unit of trash isn't difficult but cleaning the brushes, as I've stated earlier is difficult. The unit wipes down easily with a microfiber cloth. Changing out parts isn't difficult either.Approximately five times the unit has stopped cleaning within 1/2 hour of starting saying the battery needs charging even though it hasn't been used for a few days. It has probably happened more often but the app doesn't tell me the battery is weak or needed charging it just says it outloud and goes home. It has failed to dock itself twice. Now it's making some loud noise and I'm not sure what it is since I just cleaned it again and there is nothing impeading it's movement.I believe robotic vaccumns have great potential, but this model isn't one of those. I realize this isn't a top of the line model but it's performance is weak and it's ability to avoid furniture even thought it's cleaned after each usage is unacceptable. I've had enough of Eufy and will be looking for a different cleaner.
