I know it's not the makers fault but the package came super beat up all the corners were dented on the board and the hinges are very wiggly. However, looking past the thing that is definitely not the makers fault. The board functions how it's supposed to.

I ordered it for my 13 years old son, who just started showing interest in chess. It is good for the money, traditional set, just wish the figures are a little heavier

I purchased this for my 15 year old son for Xmas. I loved the fact that everything fits inside the board. The board is crafted nicelyThe reason I’m giving it a 4 is I would have really liked the pieces to have just a little more weight on them. The fact that the company will replace any pieces you lose is incredible. Plus they added 2 additional queens as backups. I gave it a 5 stars for customer service.

I just received this chess set in the mail a couple hours ago, and after a few hours of going through some openings and messing about with it, I'm satisfied with my purchase. The price point is pretty good for this set with what you get. You get the all the pieces, folding board, and the board doubles as a piece holder with little elastic straps to keep them in place. When closed, the board is held shut by two golden clasps which makes for some nice contrast. No pieces were broken and the box was in good shape on arrival. Makes for a nice introductory chess set, I would recommend it for anyone looking to get into the game. With that being said, compared to some of my other sets, this one feels pretty cheaply made. The pieces aren't perfectly symmetrical which could bug some people. The board itself feels like it was rushed off an assembly line; the bottom that touches the table top is not smooth (I fear this would scratch many surfaces). The straps inside the box are okay but I wouldn't be surprised if they broke within the first couple weeks of extensive use and I wouldn't know how to go about replacing this while keeping it looking neat. But again, for the price point, you really can't expect to have a perfect board that will last forever.

The board itself is of quite moderate quality, however the pieces…ehhh. The pieces are alright but there are some symmetry issues along with one of my pieces was improperly made in terms of its base. The little magnet inside the base wasn’t installed appropriately and now I have one piece that won’t quite sit correctly and is now cocked at an incredibly noticeable angle. Aside from that, I have no complaints, latches work well, pieces fit snuggly into place, just the one piece needs fixing.
