I purchased this hot air brush because my previous brushes were discontinued by another company. I wanted a 1" ball-tipped brush and this one does the trick. I have short curly hair and it smooths out the curls just right. My only concerns are that the electrical cord is WAY too long, the swivel action is not smooth enough and twists the cord (probably because the cord is too long and heavy) and the on-off switch sticks a little. If the manufacture works out these kinks, it would get 5 stars from me. I did order a second unit as I do not know how long this one will last because I've never heard of the manufacturer.

I ordered this after receiving the Revlon volumizer dry brush. I was looking for a dry brush that would potentially put a bit of wave and movement in my hair. Let me start off my saying I am a professional hair sylist and. I know how to use these products. I know what to use in my hair to prep it to make sure my hair style stays. I am very familiar with the Hot tools brand an have had many other products that were satisfactory made by them. My first impression was "Is this fake. Is a joke? joke? The construction of this is very flimsy. Very week. I feel if it was dropped the handle would shatter. I feel it's like something I would find in the dollar store. It is not typical construction and quality of a normal Hot tools brand. I remained optimistic and tried it. It does get super hot which is a plus because it will eliminate heat damage. It was lightweight and easy to maneuver my medium length hair. You could not use this solely to dry your hair. You would need to pre dryer to 85-90% dry before use. The curl release button does help for when your hair tries to tangle. I really wish this had flexible bristles like a round brush so you could really work it to set a curl in but it doesn't so tangling is increased even with a bigger diameter. I have used it 3 times and each time the curl/wave stays for very little time. I can fit round brush my hair with a standard round brush and blow dryer and it stays all day. This doesn't even stay for 2 hours tops. I do have to say I spent time reading the reviews before I bought it and I saw tons of women saying they had gotten it tangled and stuck in their long hair and they were using the 3/4 inch. That diameter is way to small to use in longer than 4 inches of hair ( and that's pushing it) so if you choose to order you MUST order a bigger diameter for the length of hair or you most definitely will get it stuck. I ordered a 1 1/4 inch for a looser curl. I will definitely be returning because I can get a better result with lasting curl/wave with a round brush and blow dry

I have used Helen of Troy Air Brush for over 20 years. I got this one to replace my old H O T air brush. It's made of cheap plastic, doesn't get as hot either. It gets the job done. I don't understand why the air intake is at the end of handle. When you hold it, you cover it up. That's why the motor gets hot and shuts off.

I've used this styling brush for several years. I've always paid around $15-$17 for them, this is a new brand because Vidal stop making them. This one isn't the same, i have a hard time grabbing the hair with this one. I don't know if it's the bristles or what. I paid $40 for it, very disappointed

This combination dryer/styler does neither well. I bought it because the John Frieda one I wanted to buy sold out on Prime Day. As this had also good reviews and was discounted, I decided try it. I don't know what kind of hair this works for, but mine is fine, chin length, and only slightly wavy so it really should not be a challenge for any hot air brush. This doesn't put out enough air to be a good blow dryer and it doesn't generate enough heat to either curl or smooth my hair. Plus, the hard plastic widely spaced teeth just go right through my hair. If I wind my hair up around it like you'd do with a round brush and a normal blow drier, despite the release function, it tangles into my hair. To top it off, the hard plastic was uncomfortable against my scalp. Basically, it was a whole lot of work to make my hair look worse than it does if I let it air dry and it took a lot longer than a regular blow dryer does. It is way easier to use than a brush and a blow dryer, which I've never really fully gotten the hang of, so I think I'd really like a better hot air brush. But this one was a disappointing waste of money.

I can’t believe the positive reviews on this styler, it totally ruined my hair. Beware, this size must be intended for very short “pixie” length hair. My medium length hair totally tangled in the comb attachment which was impossible to remove, even after cutting off the combs. I finally cut off my hair and have and awkward short chunk of hair on the side of my head. Not good!

This new version of HT Hot Air Brush is absolutely awful. 1. No Heat/drying power 2. The bristle DO tangle in your hair 3. The RELEASE button does NOT 4. The ON/OFF and CURL RELEASE buttons are right on top of each. You will be constantly tangling your hair with the 'release' or powering off your unit. I ask Hot Tools --- why on earth did you mess with "HOT TOOLS 1079 Hot Air Brush With Retractable Bristles, Black/Purple, 1 1/4 Inches". I ask Hot Tools --- why did you mess with a great product "HOT TOOLS 1079 Hot Air Brush With Retractable Bristles, Black/Purple, 1 1/4 Inches" I ask Hot Tools --- who on earth is running your design area. Why did you change "HOT TOOLS 1079 Hot Air Brush With Retractable Bristles, Black/Purple, 1 1/4 Inches" I ask Hot Tools --- who on earth did you have be the test user. Had they ever used "HOT TOOLS 1079 Hot Air Brush With Retractable Bristles, Black/Purple, 1 1/4 Inches" Finally, I say to Hot Tools --- be like Coca Cola and go back to the original model!

This styling brush was exactly like the one I broke but different manufacturer. This brush is much lighter and does not have a non-slip grip coating like my broken one. Because I owned a styling brush exactly, except for the non-slip grip, like this one I can say this styling brush is over priced

This hot air styling brush has been my favorite all-time styler. It is perfect for my straight, fine hair; the brush is actually firm, plastic "bristles" with round tips and is key for moving through my hair. I have owned many over the years, made by different manufacturers but all exactly alike. Some lasted longer than others. Eventually, something inside the handle drops into the little fan and then immediately the tool fails to operate. In a nutshell, that's the problem with these styling hot air brushes. The one I ordered almost 1 year ago (4-17-2020) has met the fate I described. I'm pretty disgusted that $40 has literally burned up in almost a year. It's the only styling hot air brush with the plastic bristles I can find anywhere; very rare now.

This was a huge disappointment for me. I have short fine hair. This dryer took almost ten minutes to dry my hair and by that time it had gone soft and straight. Even with salon products I've used successfully for years in my hair, the results were poor. The air just didn't have enough power. With hair like mine it needs to be dried hot and fast. This hot air brush was warm and lazy. I know that sounds silly but it's the best honest way to express my experience. With so many positive reviews, I suppose my advice would be to save your box and register your drier so if you have a similar experience, you have a warranty and the original packaging that Hot Tools informed me would be required to send a drier back to them in. Good Luck!
