I love this curling iron! I have shoulder length hair and normally use a straightener to get my beach waves. After seeing a beauty blogger, whose opinion I have come to trust, post about this on her website, I figured why not give it a try. I like to think of myself as curling iron challenged and can never seem to get it quite right. I always end up with spider legs no matter how many tutorials I watch. For some reason, with this one I didn't. I loved that the cord twists so it wasn't getting all wrapped up around my head and I loved that it's really long. I set it at 400 degrees as some other reviewers suggested and it worked for me. I have semi thick hair and I could probably go a little higher. I used a heat protectant on it and my curls lasted all day. I got the 1 1/4" barrel and I thought it would be too small when I saw it, but it gave me the messy relaxed beach wave I was going for. The only downside I could see about it was that it wasn't smooth when I was sliding it down my hair. The edges of the clap made it a little difficult but it didn't affect my curl in any way. It was more about the flow of curling it. I tried wrapping my hair around the barrel, but found it was a little too loose for the look I wanted. All in all, would definitely buy this again.

EXCELLENT curling iron. My hairstylist at Aveda uses this curling iron, and recommended it to achieve loose curls/beach waves. I have very fine shiny hair which is usually difficult to curl. With a bit of Kenra 25 hairspray my curls last all day! I would recommend this to anyone with healthy hair. (if your hair is brittle be sure to use a heat protectant and turn down the heat setting)

The highest setting is 430 degrees, which is the one I use for my thick hair. It heats to temperature in under five minutes, making it convenient to use during your morning routine. One drawback of this curling iron is that it does not have an automatic shut off timer, but if you are careful about shutting it off and unplugging it after use, then this shouldn’t be a problem. Curling your hair is quick and easy with this curling iron. Within minutes, you can change straight, boring hair into beautiful loose curls with volume. The curls are soft and shiny, not frizzy. I had this model years ago and it is just as good as I remember. Heats up quickly and creates fantastic volume. Yep, it's bulky and somewhat awkward to maneuver but that is to be expected with a large barrel. I have medium length hair and don't expect big, loopy spirals. On longer hair that may be feasible, but it's important to understand what this size curling iron does to shorter hair. I don't think some reviewers had realistic expectations. I'm super happy with it!

Before I got this curling iron, I used to take way too long curling my hair, essentially burning my hair. No matter how long I spent on my hair, the only lasted for about a hour. With Hot Tools, I can curl my hair quickly and expertly. The curls look amazing, and last for the entire day. I got this curler after my hair stylist recommended it to me, and it is so easy to use that I can make perfect waves on my own. My hair is about to my armpits (18") and the 1 1/4" iron makes the most perfect beach waves on me. I would highly recommend this curling iron to anyone and everyone.

I'm really glad I chose this Hot Tools Professional Curling Iron. My stylist used one, and this is the first curling iron I've owned that has temperature controlled heating, a very comfortable grip that is kind of textured, and is so balanced. The instruction manual suggests temperature ranges for different types of hair, and I have found it to be accurate. I'm not waiting forever for my hair to hold a curl -- it actually is very fast, yet I didn't have to guess what temperature to start out with and risk damage.

I was so impressed with this iron for the price! My hairdresser uses hot tools so I decided to give it a shot. I purchased the 2" iron. I like going back and forth between beachy, relaxed waves and tighter curls. You can do both! For more relaxed curls like the image, I alternate the direction of curling and start from the top of my head and work my way to the bottom of my hair. I hold for about 10-15 seconds but I have very thick hair. PLEASE do not hold that long unless you're certain of what your hair can handle. I've seen too many hair burning videos :( I was using a cheaper iron and feel that this one is not damaging my hair near as bad. Note: still use a heat spray before curling your hair! I use this iron at least 4 days a week and can still achieve different looks with it. If you're not a hair guru, check out tutorials on youtube. They even use this exact same iron. You'll also get a better understanding of curl sizes and how to make curls look different with the same iron.

It works wonders at the lowest heat. I have 2C-3A hair and my curls are a bit kinky. This helps me make them look a bit nicer. Will not speak about the strong hold of my curls for 10 days without styling product cause I know this is probably due to my coarse hair texture and not the iron itself. What gave it 5 stars for me was the plastic parts where you can hold the barrel from without burning your fingers, the twisting cord while in use and the adjustable temperature. If you have over processed hair chances are it will melt even at the lowest temperature if you use it for too long. So you ladies with the bleach and metallic salt dyes (drugstore brands) on your hair need to be extra careful. What else can I ask for? Maybe the next pro version can make coffee as well...

This is a superb curling iron. I read about it in an email from Southern Living and decided that I had to get it after the glowing reviews. I'm so glad that I did. It's a really substantial barrel - very well made. It has a small dial that you turn for the heat setting you prefer and it heats up pretty fast. My hair is very tough to curl so normally I have to crank up the heat and leave it on my hair for several minutes. I was really impressed with the nice big bouncy curl and volume that the wand produced. It held pretty well too after I sprayed some hairspray onto my hair. There is also a nice long cord and a swivel at the bottom of the wand so that the cord doesn't continually get tangled up. Really fantastic product for the price! I got the 1.25 inch barrel but I also like a smaller barrel for a tighter curl so I think I will get the smaller size too! Love this product and it was a great price on Amazon! Very happy with this purchase! :)

I love everything about this curling iron. I love that it gets a bit hotter than most others. It’s not hot enough to scorch your hair (that happened with another curling iron I have), but plenty hot to curl difficult hair. I love that the barrel (5/8”) is the perfect size for my short hair. I love that it’s well-balanced, easy to hold and use. It grasps hair easily and holds it securely without pulling. I love that it looks like it belongs in a professional beauty salon (makes me feel like a real pro myself). I also love that it stays on so that it’s ready whenever I want to use it. I can’t think of one bad thing to say about it. I’d definitely buy this again…and likely will.
