Had it for a month and the clamp sticks open. I have to manually close it. No auto shut off. I almost burned my house down. Other than that- good stuff

I always use hot tools irons at work. First time buying it from Amazon. It works great BUT the wire is different than the ones I usually buy from the beauty supply store. The wire is a few inches shorter and it keeps twisting/tangling. Which is very annoying when you’re working on a client.

The curling iron’s cord continuously gets tangled up because the bottom part that connects to the cord does not easily rotate. It is cheaply made, unlike other Hot Tools products I have purchased from beauty supply stores. I have to unravel the cord between every other curl which adds a significant amount of time to doing my hair.

I’ve been using hot tools for over 10 years. My old curling iron crapped out on me and I desperately wanted to replace. I guess I forgot to read the reviews before I purchased because all of the reviews are accurate. This iron does NOT curl...like at all. Even on the highest setting, which I’ve never had to use before, I get a barely there curl. Whatever little I manage to get, my hair is straight within the hour. This is not worth your time or money. I’ll be returning for sure.

I have bought a lot of Hot Tools curling irons over the years, but this one, after 5 months, started burning my hair! The temperature wouldn’t regulate and it singed my hair which came off in broken pieces! I could smell my hair burning!

Mostly, I liked how my hair didn't stick to this curling iron. High rating all across the board but it broke after only using it for about 1/2 year. the clamp broke off on the barrel of the iron making it useless.

Bought this curling iron in July 2020, and now in April 2021 it is not working. Had a similar issue with a different size of this brand. Come to find out this is the cheap version and not the professional version that I had in the past that worked wonderfully well. I did not use this hard so quite upset it has died, again, so soon.

Immediately I noticed that the spring was not very good. I should have been tipped off, when the first thing that fell out of the box when I opened it, was a re-order form for new springs! Within the first couple of months, I found myself frequently having to manually close the spring/clamp, so it would hold my hair. By month 4 or 5-- I was having to manually closed it EVERY TIME. Not going to bother to order a new spring. Just not going to ever buy this model again! I've used $20 curling irons that last years! I gave a 2-star rating because, at least for as long as the spring lasted, it curled pretty good.

A gift for yourself does not get hot enough

I used to have the Hot Tools ceramic curling iron. It was my FAVORITE and worked so well. It broke so I got this as a replacement. It heats up pretty fast but it just doesn’t make my curls as nice as before. My curls used to last all day, I’d be lucky if it lasted 2 hrs with this curling iron. I am on the hunt for a better one now!
