Some serious design flaws

I wanted to love this product as I've owned conair products in the past and theyve been good quality. Upon getting the straightener the box was nice and it caught my attention. However once I used it is where the flaws began. The first thing I noticed is there was no way to lock the straightener to keep it closed. I like being able to lock them shut for storage versus having them wide open taking up more space. I guess you could wrap the cord around it but that seems like a hassle. Secondly the hot plates come out too far and if you slide your hand up too far you will burn youself. The reason I slid my hand up is because the buttons to change temperature and turn the straightener on and off are where you hold on the front so the entire time I used this I kept changing temperature or turning it off. I tried sliding my hand up higher to avoid this but just burnt myself. This straightener is basically unusable because of the buttons! It's a bummer because it could be a decent product. The author of this review received a free sample of this product.

Not the quality you would expect

This is not at all what I would expect from a Conair product. I splurged on my last straightener from a salon but when it quit working-I decided this one would do in a pinch. I was wrong. The on/off buttons and the temperature settings are in a horrible place. I kept either turning it off or changing the temperature. I also had to turn the temperature up so high that it damaged my hair and still didn’t make it that straight. I will be returning this product.

Would not recommend

Poor quality. This product is not good for thick hair. It’s made cheaply.

Worse Flat Iron I've ever purchased

I disliked the product itself in it's entirety.

Don't buy

As everyone else has stated, the power and settings buttons are so inconveniently placed. Can't straighten or curl without accidentally turning it off or changing the temp. Also the plus and minus buttons to change temp did not always work. I will be returning.

HORRIBLE design.

This thing has a horrible design. Like many others have pointed out, the buttons are placed on the outside of the handle exaclty where you place your hands. When you press down on the handle to push the plates together, you inadvertently end up pressing the control buttons. It was impossible to use without accidentally changing the heat settings. This would have been the perfect straightener if it wasn't for this one impossible to deal with flaw. (I'm not sure how this straightener made it past the testing stage. This flawed product never should have made it onto the market). Returning it ASAP.

bad design

placement of power button and heat settings is horrible you constantly turn it off or change the heat setting because your hand is placed directly on the buttons

Dont buy this

Love the colors and was excited to get it but it did not heat up great at all and did not straighten my hair. The on and off buttons as well as adjusting the heat is also located on the handle that you have to squeeze which isn't good either.

do not buy

I thought this looked nice enough at first but along the entire plate of the straightener is a gap. so it tends to pull your hair and you have to grab big sections in order for your hair to be straight. definitely not worth $40.

Worst Flat Iron Ever!!

worst flat iron ever!! already have an infinity pro Conair from years ago that works amazingly.. decided to give mine to my daughters & buy a new one for me.. this one.. but it's trash.. and I'm using my old one again.. keeps pulling your hair and breaks it.. your hair sounds like ribbon when you curl it on edge of scissors when you pass flat iron on it.. seriously the worse ever.. normally read reviews before buying something like this and didn't.. kicking myself because they all warn you.. DONT BUY :(
