After using other irons, I loved that this one had a longer barrel to hold more hair (and long hair) as well as a larger area at the tip to keep you safe from burns. But that's where the good review ends.After using this for about 2 years, the clip is extremely squeaky (but I think this can be replaced). However, like a few of the reviewers say, the swivel technology of the tangle-free cord eventually causes the power connection to break and render the curling iron useless since the connection becomes very intermittent. At this point, I am just looking for a new iron that will last me longer than 1-2 years.

We have looked at alternatives, but always come back to the same make and model. They do the job well, but the rotating cord connection probably fails after 1 to 2 years. Older models lasted longer. This time I bought a spare since I knew what to expect.

After all of the rave reviews, I decided to give this one a shot. Not impressed. Heats up fairly quickly, but doesn't seem like it gets hot enough nor does it curl very well. If I had more time to spend on my hair, it could possibly be better.

Would give this curling iron only a fair rating. Holds hair unevenly, especially when first being used. Wouldn't recommend it.

I have been having some issues with this iron. First of all it is really easy to accidentally turn it off. This seems like no big deal but a warm iron will curl, but you will notice a few minutes later the curl didn't set. So you can go a long way on a warm iron before you realize you have to start over. Be sure and check after each curl that the iron is still on. Also it may be related to the on off switch issue, but I think not... the curl is not even. I have long hair and I wrap the hair rather than using the clamp. The curl is great and the top and bottom but the middle of the hair has a flat part. This does not happen every time however. This is a sign that the curling iron does not distribute heat evenly. One other issue with this iron, the clamp is TIGHT. I hope it loosens with time, but for know it feels damaging. It so tight that there is not a good glide. I am not sure I would recommend. I will use a handful more times and come back with a better review if I see any improvements.

This is a great hot curling iron, but it will only hold a lot of hair. When I try to curl thin hair, it slips out!! Even if it's LONG THIN hair, it will slip out. It is so irritating!! So I keep having to get a bunch of hair so that it will curl it. This would be perfect if it held on to thin hair.

I was happy to find this gold plated curling iron because, after 20 years, my old one finally gave out. This one works well as far as the look of the curls it makes, however, it will need some breaking in. The spring is pretty tight and it pulls my hair as I slide the iron down. Once I have curled my hair, it is difficult to get the iron to turn loose of my hair. I would say this product will be great once it has been broken in.

This is the second curling iron I bought from hot tools. the first lasted almost a year, and then one day decided to fry my hair and then die. I ordered another one because the price is right, and it was a good curling iron last go around. But, this time it doesn't seem to get as hot as the last one,and I have it turned all the way up to 400'. I have thick semi wavy hair, and it is normally easy to curl, but I have been having troubles lately curling. It's a good iron, and I would buy one again.

I love this product but I have to give it just 3 stars because of a defect that hot tools seems to have with the powercord. It turns off on it's own if the rotating cord doesn't stay in one position, which is impossible well because it's a rotating connection. And it's not just mine, my sister also has one and she is the one that actually told me it would happen. Other than that it's a really good product.

I ORDERED THIS,AND WHEN I GOT IT I DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS A JUMBO CURLING IRON.I TRIED TO USE IT,BUT MY HAIR ISN'T LONG ENOUGH I GUESS. MY HAIR IS BELOW MY SHOULDERS AND IT REALLY DIN'T CURL MY HAIR. IT SEEMED TO GET HOT.I HAD TO CUT THE BOX TO GET IT OUT.SO,NOW I GUESS I'M STUCK WITH IT.SHOULD HAVE ORDERD THE 3/4 ONE!
