The reason I gave it only 3 stars overall is because it has twice in the 10 days I've had it simply shut off and refused to respond to the buttons. On both occasions I had to remove the batteries for several minutes and put the same batteries back in and it appeared to 'reset' itself and work again. It does make me wonder about the overall accuracy but that being said I have no reason to think the information isn't accurate. I'm really only using this to monitor soil moisture and it seems to do that well. It also appears to reflect temperature well.

When you tilt the screen a bit, you cannot see the results, so unless it’s completely vertical, you are stuck with a product you cannot read. A bit disappointing, to be honest.

I purchased this item primarily to have a quick pH test. When I used it in my garden, in multiple places, it read 3.5 to 6.0. I used a soil test kit to verify soil that read 3.5 and the result the same as it tested months ago: 7.0. As you can see in the photo, very acidic soil would turn the sample red. So this meter is not even close to accurate! I like the other features, but I may likely return it.UPDATE: I later found out that the pH accuracy is much better when the soil moisture is NORMAL (not WET or WET+). So, I'm bumping up the rating from 2 to 3 stars. If this had been in the instructions, I would have given a 4. I can't give it a 5 because the display is difficult to read unless looking at it straight on.

I got this as a PH meter, all of the other features were extra. I just don’t think that it works very well. When testing PH it’s best to test just after watering when the soil is nice and wet. I’ve done a lot of research on this topic. The meter will give a different reading every time you stick it in the soil, and depending on how deep you stick it. It showed my soil was crazy acidic when I just don’t think thats the case. Plus the moisture meter will claim your soil is wet if there’s even a tiny bit of moisture. I don’t use this thing to know when I should water my plants, but if I did my plants would probably die. Anyway I know this might be disappointing to those who really want one of these to easily check your soil, but in my opinion it doesn’t work very well, if at all.Update: I updated the review to 3 stars since the temperature readings are accurate. I can use this as a compost thermometer. So now that I actually have a decent use for it, I’ll give it credit where it is due.
