Stairs need to be modified to fit

I put it together and took it apart several times but the pieces just didn’t fit right. I just did the best I could because my dogs only want to sit on the top anyway and I used my own dog stairs instead of the tiny ones it came with. I used them to fill in spaces I needed to screw together instead where there were gaps. I’ve put together lots of things before but this just didn’t fit together right.
