I Feel Sorry For Grampa

If Grampa had to rely on this thing to pull weeds, I feel sorry for him. First off, it is proudly made in China. It is metal, but it is cast iron. It hasn't broken yet, but it's spring and the ground is still soft. The handle is laminated bamboo. The forks on the puller work on a small weed. All it does for big weeds is tear them apart piece by piece. Once you get a weed and some soil in the forks it is a problem getting stuff to come off. As you try to push the claw into the center of the weed, the weed leaves tend to push the claws together preventing you from getting it over the plant. So, you have to balance on one foot and use your other foot to hold the claws apart as you try to center it on the weed - what a pain. bought this to replace a Fiskars 4 claw weed puller that broke -- plastic cracked, but until it broke it would work rings around the Grampa's Puller.

Broke within one year

This worked OK, but it flexed at the joint in the handle put there just for shipping. The metal pivot point broke after less than a year of use. I then purchased the Fiskars 339950-1002 4-Claw Weeder, 39 Inch and it is durable, working great and a little more ergonomic for pulling a lot of weeds it is much better.

Not goood in flower beds

The weed puller is awkward to use in a flower bed due to the need to tilt the weedpuller. The "clamp" on the end only closed in enough to hold about 1/2 the weeds I tried it on; the clamp that pulls the weeds out slipped on the other half and left the weed in the ground. To make the tool get a grip on the weed, I had to twist the tool which meant that the lever sticking out the side knocked down surrounding plants. In summary, the tool was not effective in pulling up the weeds and was difficult to use when the weeds are surrounded by plant you want to keep. I did try it on weeds in the lawn and it did do better there but still ended up pulling a lot of weeds by hand. Finally, they charged almost $10 in shipping charges for the return. Not appreciated on Amazon purchases! Part of the reason for taking a chance on buying from Amazon without physically seeing the product, is that it can be easily returned..... NOT

Not what I expected

This works okay for a weed in VERY SOFT DAMP soil. We have rocky soil in the mountains and doesn't work at all.

Entire tool head held together by a single screw

The tool itself is a little short, I would have liked it to be about a foot longer. The main issue is the entire head of the tool (The part you are buying it for) is held together by a single screw. By the time I finished the backyard the tool head was loose and needed to be manually repaired. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this product based off of price and how long it will last.

Cheap wooden handle - Disappointing!!

Grandpa would never use a 4-part laminated handle to make a sturdy garden tool! The metal part appears well made, and the tool does work as advertised, but why did they go cheap on the handle? Here you have another piece of S___ "Made in China." My suggestion: Buy only the metal working head for a lot less than the $42 I paid for this product. Then put a REAL AMERICAN handle on it - instead of four pieces of garbage glued together. Grandpas heirs should be ashamed of themselves. Make this product in the USA and use only high quality materials!

Tines are not long enough

Very well made-doesn’t work so well for Florida weeds. Tines are too short for most weeds. But I can use it well even with arthritic shoulders and knees.

Grampa Weeder can’t get weed out

This weeded simply doesn’t work although the Idea is not bad. However the design is really foolish. First the weeds must be in the center with absolutely no obstruction around. Then you have to stick it in hard on the ground and turn really hard. Next, pray it just might get the weed out. You can hurt your wrist if not very careful . Seriously when people design these gadgets, do they REALLY test it themselves and think it THROUGH to make sure they do the intended jobs before mass production for sale online or stores to waste thousands or millions people’s time & money and all the transportation shipments that affect our environment??!!

This product doesn't work well on my weeds.

The teeth are much too short to be effective.
