I was wishing this umbrella came with some instructions, but it didn't. It seemed like a rope on it was hindering it's function, and I cut it. Immediately, I realized I should not have done that. The cord is critical to the operation of the umbrella going up and down. It comes with two long poles, so will be tall enough to give good shade.

So far it is great and provides nice shade. Nothing has broken in 5 months. The only issue is the top of the umbrella turned from a tan color to mauve :(

This umbrella is of high quality for the price. I did get it on sale! Easy to assemble, the size is perfect, it keeps a great deal of sun out of my patio window when the sun comes in the afternoons on my house. I love the fabric, it is strong, waterproof and durable against sun and rain and of course being able to tilt the umbrella, makes it even more usable to keep more sun out.

Only drawback: Umbrella material not as thick/dense as desired, so too much sunlight actually passes through it. (You can feel the rays' intensity while sitting underneath.) So we've added another layer of material -- small tarps, actually -- to the underside (between the umbrella materials and the metal ribs) that seem to work for us.
