Third Party Review

The Ninja AG301 is ok, but the Ninja IG651 is much MUCH better (AG301 is impossible to clean)

(bottom line - the IG651 is super easy to clean, and the AG301 is a HUGE pain to clean. The difference is night and day. Enough said. AG301 is a mess and the IG651 is amazing.) I've had my Ninja Foodi IG651 for a few months now and have used it at least 40 times. I absolutely love it and use it at least 3 to 4 times per week. I'm not a gourmet chef or anything, but as a dad in his 40's who does the majority of the cooking, the IG651 has been an amazing addition and I couldn't be happier. My goal was to find something easy to use that cooks quick, and the IG651 nails both of those (zero reason to use the outdoor grill anymore ... IG651 grills just as well) I liked my Ninja foodi so much I decided to get one for both grandparents for Christmas. In hindsight I should have just paid a little extra to get them both IG651's, but I went with the AG301 because it's just them and they don't need as much cooking surface area. Huge mistake, the AG301 is horrible compared to the IG651. Oh well. I'm a little disappointed, because I did research the AG301 vs IG651 beforehand and don't recall any of the many reviews I read truly telling it like it is. Urgh. The IG651 is FAR superior than the AG301 because it's 10x easier to clean. I primarily use the Grill function. The IG651 has just one grill plate, and it's super quick and easy to pop off and rinse out in the sink, no matter what I cook on it. In contrast, the AG301 has TWO separate attachments you have to use and clean (this giant box that goes in first, then the grill plate that goes on top of it). So that's double the cleaning work right off the bat because you have to clean two plates and not one. Also, for whatever reason, both AG301 plates seem to get MUCH messier than the one IG651 plate (cooking burgers on the IG651 grill plate results in a little bit of grease that can quickly rinse off, whereas the AG301 plates came out completely covered and nasty and have to be meticulously scrubbed .. yuck) Also, the AG301 comes with this little specialized scrub brush, which must be used to scrub the plate because the plate grooves are so complicated and have all these nooks and crannies. Dude - I don't want to have to keep up with a little silly scrub brush, and I certainly don't want to spend 20 minutes meticulously scrubbing AG301 plates each use when I can just rinse off the IG651 plate in 20 seconds. Also, because the AG301 grill plate sits on top of the insert box, it's super hard to oil the plate. The oil just falls all through the holes. In contrast, oil easily applies to the IG651 and you don't waste any. Also, the AG301 seems to take longer to preheat, and the AG301 steel filter is a little harder to wiggle out as well. The only thing they're equal on is the controls. Both sets of controls are pretty similar and both easy to use. Sure the AG301 may be a little cheaper, but if you're gonna use it a lot, consider paying a little more for the IG651. If you don't you may regret it each and every time to have to clean the grill.
