I use it for a federal mother and three of her babies in my backyard and they all love it.

My oldest cat is 15 and apparently has arthritis, so I wanted to get her a warm bed, but was afraid an electric one and an extension cord could be a fire hazard, so I decided to try this one. She loves it and it seems to really work! She is quite warm when I pick her up while she's lying on it. I've also put it across my legs for her to lie on, and my legs got very warm, too. I washed it last night for the first time, cold water, gentle cycle, in my front-loading washing machine, and laid it on top of a drying rack to air dry, and it's still in like-new condition. If my other two cats discover it and start hogging it I'll buy two more! I got the "regular" size in beige, which is actually a leopard print on one side with a dark brown faux-sheepskin fabric on the other. Some reviewers complained that is it noisy and scares their cats, but I don't think it's at all noisy, and my cat, who is very skittish, doesn't think so, either.

Some reviewers mentioned the crinkling noise being problematic and that made me really nervous about purchasing. My dog is 17 and is startled by noises, but it is soft enough that she can't hear it (yes, she does have some hearing problems so maybe that's why) but it also isn't enough of a noise to bother me. Due to her age, she gets cold very easily and I just wanted something extra to be around the house when I wasn't there to cover her with a blanket. :) This has been great so far. I don't know how much it actually warms her up, but she seems very happy with it as well and curls up on it for many hours a day snoozing with no shivers.

The media could not be loaded. I HAVE A SPECIAL NEEDS CAT AND I WAS HOPING THAT A SELF WARMING MAT WOULD GIVE HER COMFORT. SHE ENJOYS THE SOFT, WARM MAT AND I FEEL LIKE MY PURPOSE FOR ORDERING WAS FULFILLED.

I ordered 3 of these pads in the brown leopard print to place on an end of the couches and the loveseat. We have cats who like to lay on the furniture and occasionally they will throw up on the couch, and/or they shed. They immediately were interested in checking these out and it was a hit from the start! I like the fact that they are machine washable and that was my main interest while I was looking. They are very soft, and a dark brown fleece on the reverse side. The size is perfect and two of them will fit on the pad nicely! I bought a spare one for emergency purposes. I had previously been using purr pads - which they loved also, but they are not washable, and they shred pretty easily, leaving tufts of fiber all over the house. I think these new ones will be more durable and cost effective also.

I have adopted two ferral kitties, abandoned. I have checked local shelter, no room. So I made two straw filled ,tarp covered shelters boxes for them on my covered patio. The warming pad blankets are working great! Every morning I am greeted by two warm cats waiting for their breakfast! I would strongly recommend this product because they work well inside a straw filled box, and no electricity needed. Self warming mylar! Woo hoo!

My two cats really appreciate these attractive mats. Being heat-seekers, they almost instantly sensed the heat-reflecting quality and so didn't let the crunch put them off a good thing. My guess is that the cats who are so put off by the crunch that they won't use these mats probably aren't heat-seekers. My perpetually freezing girl-cat used to use a heated cat bed, but after her co-cat got a couple of these, she switched. She probably appreciates the even heat with no hot or cold spots. Unfortunately the sherpa fleece hangs onto cat hair, and it doesn't wash out completely when laundered. Guess if one brushed the sherpa side before laundering it might continue to look good. My girl-cat prefers the sherpa side so much that she'll claw at the mats to turn them over if I leave them with the new-looking 'company side' up. Her co-cat is happy with either side. My first complaint: These need to be available in money-saving multi-packs of a half dozen or more. Even a single cat in a small apartment would want several for various nap spots. My two cats, living in a small house, could use AT LEAST 10. (Would be practical to have enough for full laundry load.) My second complaint: These should be available in people-size too.

I have three of these. In the winter, I use them in my outdoor kitty's house, along with a safe heating pad to help him stay warm. It stays warm in there for him. My indoor kitties also like them, and I like that they are safe. I wash them in the machine and they are still warming, so I am happy.

When I came across a couple reviews of how people who ordered these for their pets, inadvertently discovered they could use these for themselves, that’s when I decided to order one for my elderly mom. She is in assisted-living and would not be able to use any electric heating pad, nor can she get up by herself to warm a microwaveable pad. She suffers from ongoing back pain and now she uses this pad every single day and she absolutely loves it! This gives off enough heat that it soothes her sore back. Obviously this is not a medical device and she also takes 1 or 2 Advil a day, but this pad definitely offers her a whole new level of comfort. I’m surprised this is not being marketed for people as well as pets. This has turned out to be a Godsend for my mom and gives me comfort knowing this really helps her.

Once he realized it warmed up he went back to it again and again. It’s not hot like an electric heating pad but definitely gets warmer under their body.
