After a few weeks....

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After a few weeks of trying it, my review hasn't really changed that much. I will say that the charge lasts a really long time. I've only had to charge it once and that's with usage every other day for over 2 weeks. Simply put, it just takes too long to shave with it. I have to go over some spots several times, rotating the shaver this way and that to hit a strip that it just doesn't want to shave. I really appreciate Braun giving me the chance to try this beautiful shaver out. If only it worked as good as it looks. The flip up trimmer works great. Excellent for shaping or trimming up your mustache. I was really hoping for an all around great wet/dry shaver. I end up reaching for my razor instead.

Braun® Series 3

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was both impressed and unimpressed with this razor. First of all: the razor works while wet!!! That is a total positive. This type of razor tends to burn more so needs the ability to work wet. I have not have a closer shave in my life. Not only was the stubble again, but it felt like it had never existed. Secondly: The nature of this type of razor is to offer a really close shave, because of this there is a lot of razor burn and ingrown hairs that happen. Two days after using this razor I broke out with a terrible burning in my neck. Maybe I'm not shaving correctly, but it was painful for a couple days. All in all, I recommend this razor. For the little time in between the smooth face and the in grown hairs, I looked and felt very sharp.

Great razor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using electric razors for a while now and this is one of the better ones I have gotten to use, even though it is not a three circle BladeSystem it is a twin blade straight electric razor. Right off the bat I charged it up and started using it the next morning. I have to say the battery is great and last a long time. I have only charged it one time and I have been using it for over a week now. Overall this is a great razor I will continue to use this after I am done with my review. I would have to say a couple improvements they could do is make it flex a little more when you try to shave your neck I have missed a few spots I would have to go over it again a few times.

Good Shaver but can't beat my crazy hairs!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall this is the best electric shaver I have used. I must start of with saying my beard/hairs grow every which way. The shaver does a good job fast, but as the pictures illustrate I still can't get the close shave I want. I still start with an electric shave and follow up with a quick wet shave with a 5 blade razor. So again overall nice razor if your face allows it!

CUTSSSSSSSS

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was way excited when I way excited when I found out I was getting the Braun Series 3 for free from Braun®. I've always been a fan of Braun products. When I got the shaver it came in a nice package with the basic things the shaver, power cord, and manual. Nothing to fancy. I was actually really impressed by the color of the shaver. The construction was really nice. The plastic felt strong, not flimsy or weak. The middle part of the foil was a disappointment since it was plastic though. Overall seemed liked a solid shaver. On my first shave I decided to try it out by doing a dry shave. I was extremely disappointed by the shave. The series 3 didn't cut my hair right away. I had to go over it a few times, and it still didn't cut all my facial hair. I ended up using a different shaver to finish off that day. Second shave I decided to try a wet shave since the box says "wet and dry." I actually ended up getting a lot of cuts around my face and a lot of irritation when I used the wet shave. I was way annoyed by how much it cut me. I ended up finishing up with a safety razor. In conclusion I wouldn't recommend this shaver to a friend. It takes forever to shave since you need to go over ones face so much and a high possibility of cut and irritation. I would honestly have them save the money for a better shaver that actually give a satisfying shaver.

An Average Razor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When it comes to shaving, the most basic choice men face is manual or electric. Manual is great for closeness, but it is time-consuming. Electric is great for convenience, but you end up sacrificing how smooth your skin can be. An until Braun offered me a free Series 3-3040 to try (in exchange for a fair review), I thought all electric razors were of the rotary style heads. I forgot all about the foil style razor! But that's what the Braun Series 3-3040, a decent, basic electric foil razor. In order to give the Braun a fair review, I used it exclusively and put the other stuff away for a week or two. I also used it as I would any other razor, which means I didn't try out any features I wasn't likely to use again. Out of the box, it's obvious the Series 3-3040 is a mostly no frills model, though it does include a slide out trimmer, one of the best protective caps I've seen and a good grip surface along the exterior. In fact, everything that's light blue is part of the rubberized grip, which makes it difficult to drop when you have wet hands. I'm sure it also adds to the experience of shaving in the shower or other wet conditions, but that's a scenario where I still believe that water and electricity don't mix and I did not sample that feature. The protective cap does one thing that I haven't seen out of other electrics; it covers the power button. A smart feature when travelling, but the cap still pops off easily when the razor was packed in my checked luggage (note the cartridge does not, as that needs more grip to pull off). The slide up trimmer works rather easily and is also protected by a depressible button, so you don't accidentally surprise yourself mid-shave. The shaving process itself with the foil razor was really fast. In fact, it was probably the fastest I was able to shave in one go. Unfortunately, like I mentioned before, with razors you usually trade speed for smoothness. My face never felt truly freshly shaved and smooth after using the Braun Series 3-3040. And my 5-o'-clock shadow decided to report for work early, sometimes as early as Noon. This could be because of a quirk where my beard grows in from two different directions, and the change of the grain causes a beard crease down my neck, but this razor never really felt satisfying. As far as cleaning goes, the Series 3-3040 is as simple as running it under water (but the manual recommends with the razor running, which feels wrong). To finish the cleaning, pull the cartridge head off and continue rinsing. Also included in the box is dreaded and often misplaced cleaning brush. Honestly, by now I'd assume a razor would have a slot to store such a brush so it does not get lost, but I digress. Using the brush does get most of the hair out of the mechanism and the cartridge, but I found that leaving everything to dry caused even more tiny hairs to leak onto the sink and the protective cap. All in all, the Braun Series 3-3040 does shave the face, but for someone like me you might need to do it more often than normal to keep up your look. Ultimately, do you need it done smoothly or quickly?

Middle of the pack razor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was both impresses and disappointed with the Braun 3-3040 Wet and Dry Razor. I love the idea of being able to have a rechargeable razor that I can use in the shower, plus one that can be used as a standard razor on a day-to-day basis. The Braun razor did a good job of getting the course hair, but the fine hair around the chin line seemed to be left behind. That wasn't a problem for me, but I could see where it could be with men that get a heavy 5 o'clock shadow, or grow facial hair faster than I do. The Braun Series 3 30-40 Razor held a charge for an entire day, which was great since I took it along to work for those quick touch-ups before meetings at the end of the day. I will continue to use this razor on a regular day-to-day basis, unless I need that perfectly smooth feeling, than I'll have to use a manual razor to get that silky smooth feeling.

Sadly, not the product for me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I learned that I was invited to join this Bzz Campaign, I was excited; shaving is one of those necessary activities I dread, so I was really hoping this product would help curb my shaving frustration. Unfortunately, that was not the case at all. The product description stated that this razor was better at providing a close shave at the outset, thereby reducing friction, which would prove beneficial to people with sensitive skin. The first time I used this razor, I quickly learned that it was not going to be the product for me. While this razor did in fact do a great job at providing a smooth shave for maybe 25% of my face, the other 75% proved difficult and painful in an attempt to get the same smoothness. The most difficult area was my under-chin and neck area. Once I was done (i.e., once I had finally given up), I still had areas on my face where hair remained and my entire neck area was red and irritated -- that was the case even with shaving gel I had used. In all fairness, my facial hair is pretty thick and seems to grow in very odd directions, so even using a regular bladed razor causes consternation when trying to get a nice, clean shave. Taking those facts into consideration, I can't really blame this new razor for my experience; however, I DO wish I could find an electric razor that actually works on my face. In conclusion, while this razor didn't work for me, I would still recommend it to anyone whose facial hair is thinner / lighter and grows in a "normal" direction. Based on the 25% of my face where this razor worked, it did a great job and provided the type of shave that the manufacturer described.

Wrong foil & cutter compatibility listed

Ordered this shaver for my husband as his other wore out. Had 30B replacement foil & cutters from his old shaver and purchased this because it specifically listed this as being compatible (below excerpt from web page) . _____________ Highlights Compatible with Braun 30B or 32B ____________ IT IS NOT! Just received new shaver and 30B replacement foil & cutter does NOT fit. Very disappointed. Husband hasn't tried shaver yet so don't know how it will work for him. Just frustrated that he's now stuck with these foil & cutters that won't work on this new shaver as advertised.
