Good quality overall and relatively easy assembly. Disappointed that base isn’t included, and not even mentioned in the umbrella instructions. Due to that umbrella fell over...and hit my dog with the first hint of wind. Tried support route, not helpful, so I ordered the base. With now having spend close to $700 i’d expect fit and finish to be of higher quality :( See photos

I purchased the umbrella last June and loved it. I had the umbrella up today with a 6.9 mph breeze. A gust picked the umbrella up and tossed it over my brick wall bending one of the rods in half and putting three 5 inch tears in the fabric. I'm beyond disappointed :(

These umbrellas are nice but be sure to read everything...for the price I was sure that it came as pictured...surprise, surprise...the base is not included (my fault I should have read it more closely). Cost another $225 on top of the 700 to get the base..I would have never purchased for that price but I figured it would cost a fortune to return them so I kept and bought the bases...yes, I purchased 2. It did teach me that I need to read all of the details before I purchase and not rely on the picture.

I purchased this a year ago with the in-ground base. It provides shade for our hot tub and works wonderfully in that regard. It is only open 3-5 times a week for about an hour each time. The rest of the time it is closed and wrapped in its cover. But the cover started disintegrating a few months ago and soon will be useless. The product information states it has a 3 year warranty. How do I get a new cover?

The umbrella feels sturdy and looks nice when opened. It’s definitely heavy, so I’m confident it’ll withstand wind. Add the 100kg water base and it’s nearly impossible to move. The umbrella was packaged nicely, but oddly, the umbrella had two rip holes in the canopy and a rub scar on one of the canopy arms. All in all, I’m pleased with the product, but I’ve deducted stars because, despite it being new, it has damage.

Mine is positioned on a raised deck with a railing and I have less than an inch of clearance to get this thing opened as I maneuver it around the house, railing and bar height table! I have to raise, rotate, raise some rotate some more and then finally up all of the way. If I ever have to put it down in an emergency due to a strong wind popping up I am screwed. Since the base is half on carpet and and half on composite decking, the huge plastic base filled with water does not keep it from sliding or rotating in the wind. I used a ratchet strap to secure it to the decking. The slightest breeze gets the umbrella juking and jiving. I expected it to be much more steady in a mild breeze. That said, at 12' square it is a big sail.

I just received the umbrella and went through the assembly despite the assembly instructions not being that clear. However I went to open the umbrella and it wouldn’t budge. I may be doing something wrong but that’s an issue in itself since clear instructions would prevented this. To make it worse there is no contact phone number for Purple Leaf. Very disappointing! I emailed Purple Leaf with my problem and response was quick they informed me that there was packing and ties up inside the umbrella that needed to be removed before attempting to open. Really .......this would take 2 sentences max in your instructions to let you know that you need to look up inside the umbrella and awkwardly remove the ties and packaging !!!! Would have saved much time and frustration !! I’ll give it 1 star for instructions and 3 stars overall ...it would would be 4 stars if they could focus on some little details like instructions.
