Love this cycle. Extremely quiet. Time flies when you’re using it.The only flaw is that it MUST be on carpet. It slides away otherwise. I don’t have carpet so it’s been hard to anchor the.

I bought this bike because like many of us I am sedentary all day while I work. I work from home so I don't even get the exercise of walking through a parking lot or building to get to my desk. I really needed to get in some extra exercise and this is the perfect solution. The Bike is completely silent and fits well under my desk. I am 5'4.5" and my desk is 27" high. My knees do not hit the top of the desk. I did have to remove a drawer but with the drawer in place my desk was only 25" high. I do not like to use the strap to secure my chair because I need to roll my chair at times while I work. I simply roll one of the legs of my chair over the back of the desk cycle and it holds my chair in place while I cycle. Then I can unhook my chair leg whenever I need.I do computer work but I also hand make things at my desk. I have not had a problem doing either. If you are worried about getting sweaty while you work, get a small clip on fan with a usb charger and clip it to your monitor. A small fan isn't very loud and can keep you cool while you cycle. I have only been on a low setting so far but have been able to cycle for about 5 hours of an 8 hour workday. You won't even realize you are doing it sometimes and be amazed how long you have gone. Cycling for 5 hours on a resistance of 2 will burn anywhere from 300-600 calories depending on your weight. This is about double of the calories you burn just sitting there. So if for example, you would burn 400 calories just sitting there, you will burn 800 doing the desk cycle at a slow and easy pace for 5 hours.5 hours to burn 400 calories might seem like a lot of work, but it is so easy it really is worth it. Your legs will be sore by the end of the day and you will feel so much better mentally and physically not having just sat all day long. I would absolutely recommend buying this!I think this would be great for using in the evening while watching television, talking on the phone or any other task. I would not replace all other exercise with this but if you want to burn hundreds of extra calories a day it is really worth it! I would place it under a table if I wasn't using it under my desk and pay bills, fold laundry, paint your nails. You can do all sorts of other things while you cycle and the feeling of accomplishing burning some extra calories while you accomplish other tasks is a real mood booster too!I love how the display has a long cord that you can put on the top of your desk. Make sure you look online to check your calorie burn. The one on the display is not going to be accurate but online you can enter in your weight/height/time/distance and get a more accurate calorie burn estimate. You will not regret buying this if you sit all day at work!

Originally I bought a FlexCycle. At first it was smooth and quiet but then it started making intermittent clunking sounds; going backwards always made a clunk sound. So I bought a DeskCycle and have been thrilled! I've worked it really hard forwards and backwards and it's still quiet and smooth.I was buying these for my friend who is housebound with bad knees. I was just testing it to make sure it was quiet because she lives in an apartment building. But I loved it so much that I bought one for myself! I already own a NuStep recumbent stepper which is fantastic but the desk cycle allows me to work out all through the day to keep my pre-diabetes in check.Other features I like better on the DeskCycle is the peddles are in the middle of the machine whereas on the FlexCycle my heels would hit the front support. And the display has a stand and long cord to place on my desk.TIPs: I hate using the straps to keep my office chair in place because I would absentmindedly push my chair back from my desk and take the cycle with me or my foot would get tangled in the strap. So I bought the No LIFT Bed and Furniture Stopper and it has worked great. It wasn't quite big enough for my casters. But my casters are split into two halves with a gap in the middle so I have one "arm" of the stopper in-between them and it keeps my chair in position to peddle but I can still move the chair back when needed if I lift up and push hard enough. I'm only using 1 stopper on 1 wheel and it works for me; you might need to use 2. They come in a 4-pack so you can share with someone. Here's another tip if you plan to remove the foot straps: Buy some thick adhesive felt pads and cut to size to fill the gap where the straps came out so dirt and grime doesn't get into the foot pedals. The pedals are greased and need to move smoothly, too.

This under-desk exercise bike is as advertised. I've been using it in front of my recliner for about a week now, still at level one, so I have to move it when it's not in use. The only thing I think that could improve it would be a handle on top of it at its balance point. It weighs around 20+ pounds, not especially heavy, but it's a bit awkward to lift for someone my age--80. Today I will fashion a rope handle around it to make it easier to lift. Otherwise, it is a great exercise machine that I can use while watching TV. Very quiet.

Like many other reviewers, my wife and I have tried recumbent and regular exercise bikes and nothing worked well mainly because of the terrible and uncomfortable seats. The last bike we had, I cut apart to try to use just the pedal part with one of our comfortable chairs. Didn't work very well, but now there's plenty of under desk cycle machines that are designed for this. I did read tons of reviews before selecting this DeskCycle 2. After the quick assembly, I was able to do 45 minutes with the machine in our family room on a comfortable couch while watching TV. I used the 1st setting as to not 'burn-out' on the new device. I felt like I wasn't doing anything too strenuous and burned 200 calories! We both have bad knees, so this cycle is better than walking because there's no 'load bearing'. The 27" desk clearance, I believe, is for average height people. Both my wife and I are over 5'9" with long legs and needed more clearance at our computer desk. I looked for smaller computer stations to put in front of our big desk that had up to 32" knee clearance, but the reasonably priced ones were sold out. I also looked at keyboard tray extenders, but they were all under desk. So, I built an above desk keyboard tray with 2 drawer slides and wood panels. Very easy project and I was able to counterweight with screws on a post on our big desk which supports the monitor shelf. No damage or holes to the main desk, and if you were to build your own, you could come up with a way to counter balance the tray or even screw it into the main desk. The tray slides in to access the drawers or to move it out of the way. Now, we have 33" clearance and my wife has been pedaling long hours, miles, and burning tons of calories while she sits and works all day long. She lost 11 pounds the first week! Customer service has been very supportive and quickly responsive to my questions. I would add that the 8" setting on the machine can cause some small scraping on the bottom of the pedals for heavier people who naturally apply more pressure on the down motion of a pedal. Now, that we have plenty of clearance, I raised the machine up to the 9" setting. The DeskCylce 2 is quiet, portable, well built, and a perfect solution to pedaling while sitting in a comfortable chair. We love it!

I spend a lot of time on the computer. I'm a programmer so I'm on the computer all day for work, then I like to play games, so it's even more time on the computer. I can spend almost the entire day on the computer. I was looking for something I could do (exercise) while playing games or on a conference call--the desk cycle fits the bill. It has limitations in that it is pretty low to the ground and it's not a full size exercise bike, but the limitations haven't prevented it from giving me a good workout. I was very concerned with the short crank arms (the arms the pedals are connected to), but it seems fine. The motion is very smooth, and also very quiet. One of the limitations is that it's very low to the ground and compact, so there isn't much room between the pedal and the floor. To get around this I usually take off my shoes and then it's not an issue. I'm using it at home, so that's no big deal for me. I am also pretty tall ~6'2" and have ~12 size feet, so your mileage may vary. Another gripe I have is that the resistance between 2 and 3 seems pretty big, but I'm also out of shape, so I dunno. This may also vary slightly from unit to unit. As it is though, there are 8 settings and I have only used the first 3 so far. It really gives a good workout though, like my old recumbent stationary bike I used to use (which I don't have room for right now). It is actually like a compact, high quality stationary bike without the seat--great! I also tried some of the cheap ones, and I'm glad I invested the money for this one--like I said--it's really like having a proper stationary bike, I just use my office chair with a towel on it when I use the desk cycle. Overall I would say it's worth the money, although the foot clearance is a bit of an issue (so I take my shoes off), and the resistance settings are not as fine tuned as I would prefer, but I'm very happy with this thing. I can't comment on how long it will last since I've only had it a week or so, but it is sturdy, and seems built to last. I knew how to put the pedals on since I've done a lot of bike repair before, so if you've never installed a pedal, watch a video or something! Oh, also, this thing is very stable, doesn't rock at all using on the carpet.

This was super easy to assemble—took maybe 10 minutes. I made sure to follow the instructions as well as reviewers who said you MUST follow the “getting used to this bike” guidelines of starting with a week at Level 1 resistance followed by a week at Level 2, because I really did have to get used to how low to the ground the pedals are and form the habit of how I angle my feet while pedaling. I started out knocking my heels against the floor or the back bar, depending on the shoes I was wearing. And though it says someone 5’ 9” shouldn’t hit their knees under a 28” desk, that’s exactly me and I do, so I’m currently having to be seated farther back from my desk than is ergonomically ideal, and the solution is going to be getting an adjustable height desk, which was previously just a want but now has become a need. Also my current chair doesn’t adjust high enough so that my knees are able to extend to the recommended degree, so I’ve ordered a taller chair. And if you also need to replace your chair for the same reason, make sure to get one with a fabric seat because sweaty thighs on a leather/vinyl seat means moist pants. Ew. Just sayin’.Finally, the pedals are a bit shorter than a road bike, so if you’re used to a certain rhythm from riding in the wild, this takes some getting used to, but I am definitely able to get my heart rate up and feel a little less slothlike on the days when I’m stuck in the office for 8 hours solid. As other reviewers noted, it is super quiet. When the A/C in our building is running (which isn’t very loud at all), it’s impossible to hear the bike on resistance lever 3 or 4.Overall this has been a really great purchase. And now a couple of other folks in the office are looking to get one, too.

As a fat old grandma who's a computer applications teacher & webmaster, I spend a lot of time sitting in front of a desk both at work (school) and at home. I struggle with swollen ankles, especially in the summer. Although walking outdoors would be ideal, I also don't "do" high heat & humidity, so the walking rarely happens. Bought this to help get some light cardio AND to keep the circulation in my legs & ankles going. I am THRILLED with it!! It was a piece of cake to put together. It has a display that can be put right on the under-desk bike, as shown in the pic, or there's an extension cord & separate little stand to put the display on your desktop. The display shows your speed, how long you've been pedaling, how many calories you've burned, and the distance you've gone. There's a tension dial to enable easy, leisurely pedaling, which is all I need right now, just to keep my legs moving, but you can 'ramp it up' by setting the tension higher if you really want more of a workout. I've only had it set up for a little over a week, but have clocked 15-16 miles a day on it EVERY day! I'm only using the level 2 tension setting right now, because I just need to keep my legs moving, but as I get stronger, I'll dial it up to 3, etc to start to build some knee strength. Completely NON-STRESS to your joints while using this!!! If I could give this 10 stars, I would! **I read the one star comments some people left, and have this to add: you might want to measure the height of your desk. mine is 28.5" high. On a carpeted floor, wearing standard tennis shoes (bare feet is fine, but I have bad arches), I have no problem with my knees hitting the desk- there's probably an inch clearance. Also, you HAVE to point your toes downward like they suggest in the directions, or you'll push yourself away from the bike on your desk chair with wheels. If you sit up straight, put a lumbar pillow behind you, and point toes downward, that problem is minimized a great deal. I can't say a single negative thing about this. Not only are my ankles noticeably less swollen, but the additional activity & calories burned are spurring my ketogenic diet into warp speed! Since I'm already parked in front of my desk so much (ok, it's not all work - there's Facebook, Ebay, Etsy, Amazon, Solitaire, Mahjong, Jigsaw puzzles...what can I say LOL) this is my new best friend! I can't really keyboard well - I'm a bit 'bouncy' while I'm pedaling, but when I'm just browsing or doing a puzzle, I can 'kick back' and pedal away the whole time. (I pull a drawer out, set a large book on the open drawer, and move my mouse closer as I'm sitting back further to pedal. hope this helps - I think it's absolutely wonderful!! Check your desk height before you buy! (PS this is the link they give to more accurately estimate your calorie expenditure: [...] )
