No good

Had it for a year before I used it but 6 weeks it just stopped. Lights on but nothing else. Costway was NO help at all since it was not under warranty but NOT EVEN TROUBLE SHOOTING!

We carefully removed the unit from its box, only to find that enough coolant had spilled in transit to coat the lower part of the machine and create a large, greasy spot in the bottom of the box. We have many appliances with coolant shipped to us over the years, so we are well-versed in keeping it upright as we removed it. This is the first one to arrive with any kind of spill, let alone such a large and noticeable one. We hoped that enough coolant remained that the unit would still work, so we installed it and let it sit another day before using it (the instructions recommend letting it sit for 3 hours, but we need it for cooling our bedroom, and weren't going to wake up in the middle of the night to turn it on). The unit never blew more than slightly cool air, despite being set at its lowest temperature, and even with the exhaust directed out the window with minimal air leaks, it wasn't enough to compensate for the added heat from operating the machine. Our bedroom wound up much, much warmer than it had been with both windows open. It was also slightly warmer than the adjacent room was on the same night, which only has a single window and which was only slightly cracked. The unit was also incredibly loud at both fan settings. The higher setting was loud enough to make you worry for your hearing; the lower setting was loud enough to make conversation difficult. It's possible that this was entirely a result of the loss of coolant, but I'm adding our data point anyway. Others are correct that the piece that is meant to go in the window is too wide for many standard windows. This would be a simple problem for the manufacturer to solve. The unit shipped directly from Costway, so we have submitted our return request and hope to hear from them soon.

It rolls well is about the only reason I can give this one star. With my first baby on the way I thought it was time to upgrade to a new cleaner upgraded AC unit for the rental I live in. This thing has been nothing but an annoyance. The water reservoir fills up constantly. Weather dependent obviously but could be days, could be hours until it stops and constantly beeps at you - at 3am the only way to stop it is to get up and empty or unplug unit. Or it can stop while you are gone for the day so you come home to a non AC house. The drain is very low off the rear of the unit so it needs to be a little higher to even get a bowl under for draining. Instructions say to lift over a drain or toilet - NOT convenient for someone on a lifting restriction. I messaged the seller and their solution was to run a hose out of the drain.... then the hose should be included with the product. And drain to? Out a window or into a bucket? Both wonderful options that make this unit now NOT portable or very nice to have with a soon to be small child in the house. None of it makes sense. The reservoir should be a bucket piece off the rear that slides out of the unit that you can go empty then slide back in. I would return but as it’s such a heavy bulky item I’m really not sure how to do so. It’s super loud even on low setting. My old window ‘clunker’ works better and is actually quieter!

The compressor never turned on. It is a glorifed, super expensive fan. Do not waste your money.

Costway should end with TOO MUCH!!! I am soooo disappointed. This unit is trash. My son is using it in his "tiny home" and it worked beautifully for about two weeks and then...it sounded like a car engine that threw it's shaft and it started shaking. He immediately turned it off and the sides of the unit were too hot to touch. A FIRE HAZARD! Don't buy unless you have money to throw away. I don't have money to waste and I'm really, really not happy with "Costway" because it did Costway TOO MUCH FOR A PIECE OF JUNK.

The water full light doesn’t work and it doesn’t shut off when full. My carpet is soaked. I’m not a moron but I bought this so.......

This was a waste of money. I just received it today and it does not cool down my room. I have had it on for 3 hours and already the tank of water was full and made an awful loud sound. I'm already starting the process to return it. I would give it no stars but that's not an option. I'm super disappointed.

Do not buy this!! It is more like a room cooler, not an air conditioner. The room will never get below 78 degrees no matter how long you run It. This is after moving it to a smaller room. I'm very upset with the amount of money I spent.

I bought the 12,000 BTU unit to certain that I could cool my living room and small attached library. The unit is supposed to cool up to 400sf. My area is 240sf. I cannot get the room temperature below 78 degrees no matter what setting I use on the unit. The drain hose that came with it doesn't fit and can'teven really be describedas a hose. It doesn't screw on the drain outlet. It is simply a large clear plastic tube like the type you would use in a fish tank. It's badly kinked in multiple places, so even if it was the proper diameter to fit in the drain, water would not flow through the tube. I had to put an ice cream bucket under the drain and empty every hour or so until I bought the correct diameter tubing at Menards. If I forgot to check it, I had water all over the wood floor. The unit is really noisy. If I could move it further away from the sitting area, it might be tolerable. But the negligible cooling effect works only if you set directly in front of the fan. I'm really frustrated by this situation. I ordered this unit so that I would have AC before the summer heat. I researched, read reviews and thought I did my due diligence. I thought I carefully selected the best unit for the best price. I was wrong. Now I will have to return this and wait for another unit from someone else.
