My granddaughter received this for her birthday. I'm a competent crochet and knitting person and this is difficult for me. The yarn is not fully caught by the hook provided, the loops look nice but pull out with ease, unravelling any previous ones if you snag a loop.I would not recommend this for any age

I thought this was like latch hook. It’s frustrating to work with. The loops pull out so easily & hard to make any progress with. This is such a cute idea if there was a way to make it doing latch hook. I also received with a smashed box. Returning this item!

The media could not be loaded. This is NOT latch hook! The product description says the following: “Use the same classic latching technique as a traditional Latchkits rug to make an adorable 3D Penguin!” This is NOT latch hook!Under the description there were videos of products that are considered “similar”, which show a little girl doing a traditional latch hook rug. They are NOT similar. As you can see in the pictures, the penguin is made of a plastic form grid which you loop the yarn through to make a penguin plushie type toy. However the method of looping is nothing like latchooking. First of all, you use a very tiny crochet hook instead of a latch hook. Second, you use one long piece of yarn opposed to using a 3” yarn for each square on the grid. Third, there is no knotting involved. The amazing thing about traditional latch hook is that even a child can quickly learn the simple technique and watch as their efforts produce a beautiful rug. With this I was frustrated as I spent most of my time trying to fix problems and fight with the yarn and the (too small) crochet hook, which was actually too big for some of the squares. It basically wasn’t fun. Before we could accomplish 10 loops I promised my 10 year old son that I will get him a normal latch hook kit instead. This kit will remain unfinished.

Not easy at all. Disappointing and frustrating to say the least. The written instructions not easy to follow or fool proof.

I was excited to get this for my niece, but now it's just going to end in lots of frustration and tears! This thing is SO DIFFICULT to do! Not like latch hook at all. You have to essentially keep looping the one piece of yarn over and over and try to keep it in tact and in the holes. The hook doesn't even fit in some of them properly. Definitely do not recommend!

It looks super cute, but it isn't very easy to do. I'm used to a real latch hook, or crocheting. This was just looping it through. It's not held in place, so the loops can easily be pulled out.I would not recommend this.

Impossible to do. It's not latching or hooking into anything. Any time my daughter pulls it through (or me) it just unravels the whole row. My daughter almost cried. Total waste of money don't buy

It says 8+ but it is not intuitive for any age and is low quality yarn to work with on any project.

the way they want you to stitch this is stupid and hard for kids to do...the idea is cute but would be batter as a latch hook kit instead...you do a stitch on this and end up pulling three stitches out...not a fan of tis at all...would never buy something like this

When trying to "learn" through their instructions, it was VERY hard. The yarn is so cheap and fluffs but the time you try to get in the tiny square provided. I couldn't get through the tiny practice heart before finally giving up. The hook is a joke, does NOT hook the cheap yarn enough to get it through properly. Not worth it, ended up in my garbage
