BEARD FAMILY
This was smaller than what I expected. I think they could have provided more yarn in case there were accidents/mistakes. This is great for those learning how to do these kind of crafts.

Cute design and my 8-year old granddaughter couldn't wait to try it. It's not a 5-minute project and, with a new baby on the way, we are slowly working on it. Fun but in future will purchase 2 so she can do one on her own while I do the other. Directions are clear but more fun to do together than just to watch her do one alone. Will most likely buy the Panda when the Koala is also available so we have two to work on together.

Not quite as soft and cuddly as we were hoping. It's a bit of a bear to put together, but my 12 year old was able to figure it out easy enough. It's essentially a yarn covered dust collector

I got this to have for when my 8 year old niece visits. I thought it would be a great time for her and it is proving to be just that. And it's a great introduction to this type of crafting. Now I think most people out there know that the end result will rarely look like the end product pictured on the front of the box, but this doesn't matter too much...to her or anyone else. She found it reasonably easy to do with a little guidance. My only criticism is that the price seems just a little high for such a simple kit. This is the only reason this product loses a star though, so if price isn't a consideration for you, then consider it a five star.

My daughter wants to try something different. She loves arts and crafts, so I thought she would try this product. I ordered it, and she got so excited to build her own panda. As a beginner, it was difficult for her to complete the task. I didn't help her, but she was able to manage. It takes a lot of patience and time to build this animal craft kit, but it’s worth it after you see the beautiful result. It’s a great gift idea!

This is such a cute idea but definitely for older kids/teens than younger children.. it's not easy to get the crochet hook through the hole and pull the yarn through to loop, it was difficult for me to do and I crochet. It is a neat project and good for teaching patience.

I ordered this for my 9 year old granddaughter to do when she comes over after school. The kit is complete with everything required to make this cute bear. It is a bit challenging to complete and requires a patient child. My granddaughter works on it for maybe 15-30 minutes at a time then sets it aside for the next day. It’s not completed yet but it will be in a week or two. This is a simple but challenging kit that would be great for a patient child, not so much for a child in a hurry to complete.

It's definitely for those with patience. Its not for hugging as advertised but you can tweak the design to make it into a closable secret keeper, picture holder, jewelry box, small purse etc, etc.

This Yarnimals Panda is an entertaining kit for elementary aged students who enjoy crafting but require more fine motor skills to understand more difficult forms of needle crafts. It would make for a decent gift, especially for a birthday party where you are unsure of what the host would enjoy. However, if you intend on buying this for anyone older than age 10, I would recommend purchasing additional yarn and exploring methods of reinforcing each stitch (perhaps a slipknot stitch each loop). The provided yarn easily frays and creating a consistent loop can be frustrating, especially with the method outlined in the directions. The basic process outlined in the instructions is very simple to understand and grasp. After cutting a section of the yarn to the outlined size, you "hook" the yarn piece through the hole and continue on until the yarn runs out. This kit uses a crochet hook with an ergonomic handle; a great way to introduce younger children to holding and hooking yarn. There is a paper ruler on the directions so that if this kit is brought along on long trips, you do not need any additional tools. A practice heart latch is also included and can be placed inside of the completed animal or kept separately as a keychain.By all accounts, this is an easy craft and brings back the classic "latch rug" projects, in a unique and engaging form. Instead of just a display piece, this can be played with after creation if a more secured form of looping is utilized. The level of enjoyment really depends on the person completing this craft. If they are very interested in projects of this sort, they will be entertained for a long time by this kit. However, if the person receiving this gift is prone to frustration or has very little interest in crafting, they may opt to give up when the yarn frays or the loops begin to pull out.

I was excited to get this kit. It's relatively easy to do, comes out very cute and fluffy. I am happy with the end result. The only problem is, there isn't enough of purple yarn to finish the toy. I had to use my own white yarn, which wasn't matching in the texture-but I made it work. The instructions say to cut a piece of yarn of specific length to work with, however it's best not to cut the yarn and work off the yarn ball- that way you're not wasting yarn on tail ends. I had just enough white-but I was working off the yarn ball; and I didn't have enough purple-i followed instructions and cut the yarn, I was only short for the back of 2 ears. Had I worked off the ball I would have had enough.Overall, I am very displeased that the yarn was not enough. It's supposed to be a project for kids, so I'd expect that there is a little extra in case of a mistake or loose looping. I am still happy with the final product.I did have some trouble snapping it together. After it's snapped, the side cheek keeps popping even after slight squish, so if you're planning on letting a kid play with it-i recommend using something like glue or fabric tape to reinforce the inside of the loops and to glue or to tie together the halves of the toy.
